Re: Because Toei did not do a bluray of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z until today and they will do at some point?

508 episodes? Plus three double-length TV specials? I don't think Toei will do it. Hell, even their crappy standard-def Dragon Box "remastered" release isn't what most TV stations air for Z, and people in Japan still happily watch the raw, unremastered, cheap, quick, tape transfers Fuji did of their...

Re: Vic Mignogna

So, apparently Vic Stan’s think that the case is going well? Just something I noticed in an unfortunate conversation with someone who supported Vic but was not particularly engaged with the issue. I guess it means their narrative, even though false, is actually duping people into buying their nonse...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

I'm sorry you feel that way, Robo4900. Not once in your post did you ever thank me for the uploads I made. Maybe you should adjust your thinking and maybe you'll get somewhere like I have with other people who collect audio. In any case, here's episode 31 with the intro, commercials, and neps witho...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

To be completely honest, I’ve lost the will to continue uploading on Nyaa. I didn’t do it for the attention. Nobody held a gun to my head. It was a way to give back to the fans. Last October, I received a box of Betamax/Hi8 tapes containing audio from the DBZ Fuji broadcast, and then another box in...

Re: Dragon Ball Dragon Box have redubbed part

In the final chapter, it use the almost the same as dbox one so the dbox is the redub Hard to say either way in that regard; it's likely that, either way, any record of the broadcast line is either gone from Toei's archives, or at least beyond the scope of the base-level quick glance Toei likely em...

Re: Dragon Ball Dragon Box have redubbed part

as ALL releases except the BA have the redubbed line, it's the reddubed sub Yes, I know. I was just curious to compare what the optical line was in comparison to the literal translation of the broadcast line. But note that we don't know which line was the "redub". It's possible the line was origina...

Re: A question to those who saw the Saban dub long after the fact

The Pioneer movies already set a precedent for faithful scripts and the Japanese music intact (two of which played on Toonami even) but no they decided an uncut dub with even more childish dialog than the heavily censored Saban approved version and electronic technorock music blaring everything out...

Re: Dragon Ball Dragon Box have redubbed part

I make it: Itsu made sonna mittomonai kakoishiteiru tsumori da! Only part I can't work out is "kakoishiteiru", or it could be "ka koishiteiru". " itsu made sonna mittomonai kakko o shiteiru tsumori da! hayaku saisei shiro! " Translated extremely literally, it's "How long are you planning to stay in...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

I can imagine some prefer the Dragon Box audio due to nostalgia akin to how some people prefer an old record with cracks and hisses on it. To make some audio to video analogies: The cracks and hisses are more like grain, dbox audio is more like overblown highlights IMO. Dbox audio has a lot of miss...

Re: What canon or non-canon character(s) would you like to see return in the next installment of Dragon Ball?

Paikuhan. (Pikkon, for dub-fans) The dude never really was gone into properly originally. Just kind of was a one-off who had a minor role in one of the movies too. Bring him back, and do a fun little arc where Goku meets up with some of his training buddies in the afterlife. Maybe do some weird vill...

Re: Dragon Ball Dragon Box have redubbed part

One thing I wonder is whether the broadcast version is the redub, but that was only pressed to the master tape at a very late stage in production, leaving the optical track stuck being the original, incorrect, pre-redub line. ... I'm curious, anyone know what exactly the two different lines mean? Th...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

[...] Your embeds are broken. The most common reasoning I've seen, is that the low quality audio fits with the aesthetic of Drragon Ball and makes it feel like an old martial arts film, or something like that. Yeah. Pure nonsense, if you ask me. Same kind of reasoning people give for why the Ocean ...

Re: A question to those who saw the Saban dub long after the fact

Meh. The UUE was probably the best work Funimation did with Z pre-Kai. That is an exceptionally low bar. Even if they did rely on recycling the 1996 scripts as much as possible. Dialog wise it’s not nearly as trash as episode 68-194. Fair point. I will note that better =/= good, however I do agree ...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

Wow, it seems Toei really is a backwards as hell company because you would think that they'd be pleased and moved to tears about fans going through such labor of love efforts as this to get the show with the level of crystal clear sound quality it was broadcast with. But no, apparently they don't c...

Re: Is anyone still hoping for an international Blu-Ray release of TOEI's movie masters?

Certainly... as long as they give us the footage as it looked in the streaming version and not the over-filtered, slightly censored version Toei released on BD. That really was one of the most aggravating instances of them screwing us over; Release a version with excellent video but poor audio on s...

Re: A question to those who saw the Saban dub long after the fact

If i'm going to be watching those particular arcs with FUNi's cast then Kai is my preferred go to form of the series as far as that goes given how far superior it is script and voice wise. Absolutely. Unlike UUE, which was just a crappy half-measure, Funi's dub of Kai actually does do a proper redu...

Re: A question to those who saw the Saban dub long after the fact

I still consider the Saban dub superior to Funi's redub; both are inaccurate and censored, so in my view, you might as well go for the version with the better performances, that wasn't hastily thrown-together years after the fact in an utterly failed attempt to add extra consistency... Which ends up...

Re: Dragon Box Audio Vs. Broadcast Audio — How is there even an argument?

The only thing I have against the broadcast audio is if you're listening to it with headphones, there's this annoying buzzing sound that sort of hums in the background sometimes (often) when characters talk. Filtering can cut it back by quite a lot, and if we can get superior sources(As we have don...
