Re: Original Dragon Box quality (480p) Vs Upscaled quality (720p, 1080p, 1440p)

The quality is not improved by upscaling. A YouTube upload in 480p would be compressed more, therefore look worse, but that's down to YouTube. YouTube's idiocy aside, the upscale gives no benefit at all.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I think the backlash from several months ago contributed a good deal to that, as the 30th set is more or less the Season BD's albeit this time not cropped to fake widescreen. They only just barely managed to get to the miminum pre order range at best during that window of time. So needless to say i...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Well, I mean, it's a very limited run, so if you wanted to go all 2005 Funimation marketing spin you could easily argue that they barely managed to sell over 4,000 copies. The limit was nearly double what they actually sold. As far as Dragon Ball releases are concerned, the sets sold abysmally. And...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

The Shit Bricks, as I've taken to calling them, should go down in history as one of the poorest-selling releases of the franchise. Well, I mean, it's a very limited run, so if you wanted to go all 2005 Funimation marketing spin you could easily argue that they barely managed to sell over 4,000 copi...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Guys, I know this set is being produced already, but get the word out anyway -- don't let people make an ill-informed poor choice, make it known how awful this release is. The Shit Bricks, as I've taken to calling them, should go down in history as one of the poorest-selling releases of the franchise.

Re: Is there a general consensus on what the worst movie is?

Honestly, I thought Z 10 and 11 were quite fun, though 10 is quite dull in its second half. For me, the real stinkers are Z 3, 4, 5, and 7. Especially 4. I myself used to consider Movie 11 to be the worst, but nowadays, I find myself thinking that Movie 10 is the worst, at least as far as the Broly...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

companies like AB Groups/Mediawan Thematics don't make it easy when they haven't made an effort to make their dubs legally available for a full 15 years. Worth noting: AB Groupe never produced the dubs, they merely distributed them in Europe, and provided the video masters for DB, GT, and the last ...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

Threads like this just goes to show why the Canadian dubs should get a home release. All this petty bickering would cease as everyone who wants a decent quality remaster would buy it in a heartbeat. Granted it would likely go out of print and fetch ridiculous prices like Rock the Dragon, but at the...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

I could deal with that low quality, but the fact that three DB episodes (71, 95, and 124) are completely missing from the Internet kind of sucks. It's like a part of history being gone. Well there's that, and most of the last ~40-50 episodes of OG DB have a weird skipping issue that makes the music...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

Y'all are just saying vague nonsense words. Who's doing what, why should anyone care, is someone just parading as someone else, and what needs to be done about it if anything like seriously does this have anything at all to do with us? Please just cut through and get to the point so we can remove t...

Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

From what I've seen, which you've kind of shown to be true now, you're only interested in gloating about having stuff no one else has. You say a handful of people who've contributed have been allowed into your inner circle, and good for them... So you like to gloat and you're an elistist. I'm attem...

If your not interested then there is no need to spread negative attention or discredit me, as you are insulting those who have been generous enough to help with my project. Re: Any Canadians that have YTV recordings of the Blue Water dub?

What is the point of collecting the YTV rips of the Blue Water dub? It was originally edited and mastered in PAL, so Toonami UK got younger-generation masters without the ghosting caused by PAL to NTSC conversion. Is there a difference in audio quality? Well, the rumor is that the YTV airings are l...

Re: Vic Mignogna

So do you think DBS Broly will have a different VA in FighterZ now? Looking forward to it, as I didn't like Magnagna's take on him. It felt lazy and unispired, especially recently. If Funi didn't already have his lines recorded, I can see them doing two things: Using a sound-a-like for the job like...

I would be interested in helping you out with this if you had any intentions to do more with your material than just brag about having it. Re: "Happy" 20th Anniversary of FUNimation's DBZ Season 3 Dub!

"Season 3" was a perfect embodiment of everything that has ever been wrong with Dragon Ball's treatment in the west. The cast that everyone had grown to love, thrown aside for convenience and penny pinching over paying people for voice-destroying screams, the music and voices replaced with cheap, ru...

Re: Dub Changes That Don't Bother You...that much

Anyway, regarding the lip flaps being a possible reason for 8000 becoming 9000 is interesting. Maybe. At least it's not arbitrary. Pretty sure that's just a piece of baseless speculation that's become a well-spread rumour. Brian Drummond suggested it a few times in interviews, I think that's where ...
