Yes it was. And because it happened in filler the anime ignored that to follow the manga

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
But for some reason Justin is hated on and yet Mutato was missed cast but nobody says a word. The film's casting was such a minor issue compared to the story/plot. Goku- Main character also Hollywood has a big problem with overrepresenting white male leads even in stories that don't call for it. Me...

Re: Justin Chatwin apologizes for Dragonball Evolution
Dragon Ball Evolution is only talked about with anime fans or bad movie buffs. The movie flopped on its original release and was quickly forgotten by most movie goers. Even the 2010 Last Airbender movie is remember more from the casual audience than DBE. Do bad movie buffs even care about Dragon Ba...

Re: The Original Movie 14.
I've always felt that the only thing that seemed better in the original outline was the backdrop being 18 and Krillin's wedding. Everything else seemed pretty lame. Toei already did the plague of evil spreading twice in their original Dragon Ball content, revealing the Saiyans were possessed by this...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
If there's ever going to be another attempt of live action adaptation (which will most likely won't happen for a VERY long time if not ever), casting of Goku's ethnicity shouldn't matter, especially for movie made outside of Japan, particularly America. I NEVER understood why people were so upset w...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
It's not that I'm opposed to new DB content, I like BoG (movie version) and Super Hero. While I do enjoy both of these as well for the most part and think they're the only revival material strong enough to justify the revival's existence at all, my core position has always been "We never neede...

Re: Did the editor veto of 17 and 18 being the arc villains keep her alive
I think it depends on when Toriyama decided 18 would be the Future Mrs.Krillin. After he decided 17 and 18 wouldn't be the big bad anymore? Before? Pilaf (if he counts), Piccolo (through reincarnation), and Vegeta all survived their stint as big bad so there's a precedent. We could of had a parallel...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Another example would be goku magically knowing how to read minds in the namek arc. Way back in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai arc it was established disciplined martial artist can read minds as seen with Roshi reading Nam's. I don't see an issue with Goku doing the same. Chi pretty much amounts to &qu...

He came to earth assuming Goku already conquered the earth and wiped out the human race, of course he assumed Goku had access to the space pod he came in.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
You know, considering that Z movies 1 and 2 were still using the OP re-arrangement motif of the original Dragon Ball series (even though it can't be used in the Z series proper) as well as their general vibe, I wonder if the Toei staff was essentially just stalling so they could rehash the Saiyan p...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Sadly, it feels like there really isn't much hype for it anymore. Hardly anyone talks about it, let alone speculates about the plot. Only because we don't have any news in general since a long while, which hopefully should be changing soon. Tease a potential Goku + Shin Potara Fusion and you get al...

Nope. Like all their shows they removed the opening in favor of their own custom opening which was just random clips of the show with generic ambient music

Re: Dragon Ball influences in Western products
The similarity between the aforementioned Simpsons episode and the scene in Dragon Ball Z ends at the bullet being thrown back. I highly doubt the writers and storyboard artist at The Simpsons got it from DBZ. The scenes and execution are completely different. https://youtu.be/YWDUEVL0PMI?si=8hRDTw...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Z unquestionably lost its way when Toei began spamming (mostly) formulaic rehash movies twice a year (to say nothing of the Hit Song Collections) and then directing all score composition towards that (where it worked much better than in the series). Had the effect of, again, rehashes of moments in ...

. Did we need 4 movies featuring him? That I'm not sure about Especially since Z movie 10 could have easily replaced him with evil volcano god and Z movie 11 could have replaced him with doomsday monster of science. Like Venom he became a victim of his own popularity and showed up more than he need...
