Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Using the original instrumentals is dependent on Toei providing them with such. More precisely, it's a matter for record labels such as Nippon Columbia and ZAIN RECORDS to handle, since they're the ones with the phonographic copyrights to any such instrumentals. Like anything else related to the mu...

Re: Faithful English covers of DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs
Should the DBZ openings, endings, and insert songs (plus extended versions for commercial releases) receive official accurate English covers with the original instrumentals retained (from dubbing companies, not the original Japanese music artists as "Engrish" versions of Japanese songs so...

Re: unpopular opinion: kenji yammoto should have never got fired
The basic impression I’m getting is that that entertainment industries in Japan seem to have rather skewed priorities (from a Western perspective) when it comes to what is considered an unforgivable/fireable offense. If an artist has abhorrent views or commits a serious sex crime, it will often be ...

Re: How did Grandpa Gohan survived Goku's Great Ape form for first time?
I always assumed Goku's first transformation happened when he was still just a baby , and so even as a Great Ape he was still relatively weak enough for Gohan the experienced martial artist to subdue at the time. For the old setting yes, that could have worked. Had Goku was picked up by normal huma...

I feel like you've spread the word enough King. Our Lord and Savior Goku died for our sins. In his name we pray "Ossu Ora Goku!"

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
After rewatching the first Teaser Trailer, I'm inclined to believe that the story takes place between the end of the Buu saga and Battle of Gods. According to the trailers, the Kaioshin and Kibito aren't fused in Daima, so it can't happen before Battle of Gods. I don't see why they'd make it after ...

Gods forbid if they ever saw episode 5 of Dragon Ball, or its thematic remake in GT.WittyUsername wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 3:49 pm If that animation with Goku and the others in dresses had been done today, especially by a Western company, there would’ve been a bunch of outrage from Internet grifters.

Version 1 https://youtu.be/mUXe8vqdvx4?si=WKtHSDjsD31vSH9R Holy shit, I skipped all the EDs when I watched the sub, I had no idea this version existed. Yamcha makes kind of a cute girl??? Honestly being able to see the correct OP and EDs and the NEP was the highlight of watching the Dragon Box vers...

Re: Losing interest in Dragon Ball
There's plenty to talk about aside from current in-universe stuff. Conversations about whose stronger than who inevitably become tiresome because we can only make educated guesses on these things. For anyone that explores the behind-the-scenes stuff like various international dubs, broadcasts, even...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
At the very least, for quality control reasons, they should have done a complete redub of the Ginyu, Frieza, and Garlic Jr sagas. Use the old 1999 scripts as a base to save money if they want but get rid of the more cringe dialog and fix the most egregious errors and have the entire cast completely...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
I've said it before, but if they were going to redub DBZ with more faithful scripts, they would've done it 20 years ago when they were polishing up the dub for the Ultimate Uncut releases, as well as rerecorded the first 67 episodes with the Texas cast & when they were remixing the English dub ...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
I don't really think it matters. Who is a new dub going to be for? No new fans are going to sit through 444 episodes of an English dub of three thirty-plus year old cartoons. If they're going to sit through that many episodes, they will in all likelihood be interested in the work from a historical ...

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
"It's absurd to expect a redub simply because one dislikes a poorly adapted version. Wanting a redub and expecting a redub are two different thing. I doubt Majin Buu ever expects Dragon Ball to get a redub. . Be grateful that a redub was undertaken, allowing access to the unedited version. One...

Tbf the 2nd ending in the first season kind of sucked imo. No big loss Those are fighting words. It's way better than the first one. I don't even like the first one that much  Now, I will fight you if you insist Princess Moon is better than Maiden's Policy, Watashi-tachi ni Naritakute, and Ras...

Re: Funimation Release Doesn't Include DB OP2 & END 2-4
Minor pedantic correction. The Funimation release does have the second ending. They don't have the first ending The two endings are nearly identical but the second ending is updated to include Kuririn and Lunch and omits some scenes in its place like a cross dressing scene between Bulma and the boy...

Tbf the 2nd ending in the first season kind of sucked imo. No big loss The 2nd ending in SuperS was fun though. I would put up with Princess Moon if we didn't lose Otome no Policy, Tuxedo Mirage, Watashitachi ni Naritakute, Rashiku Ikimasho, Sailor Star Song and Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto, and many of t...

Sailor Moon was the same, we never got any alternate endings other than the very first one.

Re: Would a complete DBZ English redub be necessary?
] "Shottily edited"? Not really. Though I can see that for the first batch of episodes, as they cut out certain connecting frames that were in the original Z, the editing got better over time as Q-Tec found their groove with doing it. Although, I wish Toei had cut more of the filler out o...
