Re: General question about the full colors

I wouldn't know, but I'd imagine another artist drew them in. Says a lot that I never noticed and didn't even think about it when I read Raditz to Frieza in English (thanks ViZ).

Re: Vic Mignogna

There's a MediEvil remake? I loved those games. MediEvil 2 was brutal, but in a (mostly) fair way that made it really enjoyable. Yeah! The PS4 MediEvil is REALLY good, it has AAA graphics but is a VERY authentic remake, pretty much 1:1 with a few modern concessions thrown in like Right Stick camera...

Re: Would some decisions by Akira Toriyama in their original draft be beneficial to Dragon Ball Super?

I think the Trunks bit could have worked if the power he got was inherited. In the Saiyan arc, Gohan was able to deal substantial damage to Vegeta by the end (albeit with a Spirit Bomb and Oozaru boost), and in the case of the Spirit Bomb he, along with Krillin, had borrowed it from Goku. Something ...

Re: Why hasn't Funi released the 2018 remastered movies yet?

GT was perfectly well liked in Japan, Latin America, France, and pretty much everywhere else that isn't the USA or Australia. But Japanese fans saw Dragon Ball as being well past its prime by the late Boo arc, which was about ten years into the run at that point, and basically all checked out. I fe...

Re: Would some decisions by Akira Toriyama in their original draft be beneficial to Dragon Ball Super?

On Robo's story draft idea... Under the assumption you're fixing all the prequels at once, you kinda have to keep the love story in AotC because it becomes incredibly crucial to the machinations in RotS. For me the problem there is that the execution and details of it all don't work at all, and the ...

Re: Why hasn't Funi released the 2018 remastered movies yet?

I think Toei are going to do another movie next, and have put the show on the back-burner for a little while for one reason or another. Am I just making this up, but was it because they saw the rather tepid reactions to Super's story and animation and decided to pull it aside so they could work on ...

I'm currently a contract walkthorough writer for IGN; I've done guides Spyro Reignited, Astro Bot, CTR: Nitro-Fueled and MediEvil (the first and last ones work with both the originals and the remakes). Before that I was a Junior Animator for Weta Digital; I worked on Alvin 4: The Road Chip, The BFG,...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I recall Assassin's Creed: Odyssey had a sidequest that explored this subject actually, but you'd preferably not have the relationship at all (no, not in the game as a media product, I meant in-universe).

Basically any home release where FUNi themselves remastered the film. Basically everything but the Dragon Boxes.
You could lump both Kais and everything Super in there as well. The Green Tint Broly is Toei's error of course.

Re: Was the Level remastering REALLY too expensive, though? Almost certainly not.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this, but I'm thoroughly convinced that this was ready to go in 4:3 before the Blu-ray season sets came out and they cropped it to 16:9 despite what fans voted for in the survey about DBZ Blu-rays. They're just selling the season sets to us again in a specia...

I can't imagine that we will see a full recast until the original comic is adapted into animation from scratch.
At this rate, the original cast will only be 100% replaced when they're all dead or retired.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

If you're really so sure it's dust, try grabbing a screenshot from the Dragon Box and/or the DVD singles. Personally, I don't have either on hand, so I can't really check. I'd also kinda like to see the show animated in context of the scene it's in since I can't tell where it's from. Is there even ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I agree Dragon Ball’s fandom isn’t so bad in itself. Other bad behaviour that you listed aside, IMO the DBZ fandom could be much, MUCH more willing to open up and accept the original version of the show, and that OG Dragon Ball and the manga exist. That's some critical research failure and reality ...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

UGH, okay I know, I know, another double-post. I can't leave well enough alone, and I decided to go back in and revise a bunch of the logos that were too small, including the Tankobon re-issues, Zenkai Battle Royale, the movie poster logo for Evolution, and more. I also added the logo for Dragon Bal...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

Few notes on the Dragon ball Super section 1. The Dragon Ball Super Logo that you have used is not official. It is a fan-render. 2. The main Dragon Ball Super Logo, the one with the Kanji on it, has a gradient variation similar to BoG and RF, and a fully-2D version like the Z Anime Logo. 3. The log...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

Okay, sorry for the double-post but I need a bit of assistance. In the 2016 Forbes interview with Kazuhiko Torishima, he says the following: The new anime producer also was very smart and said that if we had a new title, in that Dragon Ball would finish and we'd start a new show, then that meant the...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

Dope! Do you have a date on when that first poster was put out? As what I added in the last post suggests, it must have been designed in the earliest stage of the production, so my guess is late 1988. I've also noticed that the color scheme of Goku's dougi looked like that of the original DB, which...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

Here's the earliest usage of the horizontal DBZ logo. It's a poster made to advertise DBZ as the new series. This horizontal logo is often referred to as "later" or "modern" one, but it's actually one of the varieties that did exist from the beginning. https://i.imgur.com/Whfnf3dm.jpg Dope! Do you ...

Re: It's actually amazing that DBZ was successful on Japanese TV

I think TOEI had to have realized this because for the rest of the series the pacing is solid IMO (except for a few instances in the Buu arc). I believe so. When I did the "manga vs anime" line graph, I included gaps for when the manga or anime took the week off, and what I noticed is that after Fr...

Re: Manga Logo Catalogue

Correct. I was mixed up. It was 2012-2013 plus a pair of one-offs in 2014. Cool! I put the logo in 2010 (when the games started) and added a note about Victory Mission. Also HEY GUESS WHAT, I updated the gallery AGAIN! Now I've gone through and added all of the unique video game logos, which should...
