Re: Writing 101 w/ Tomb, Lesson 1: Plot Holes and Retcons

Thanks to everyone who has read and taken the time to leave a message! Let's get cracking: I read through it all and I'm waiting for the next lesson. Hopefully, one day, you will tackle the need to create a power scale for ourselves, so that we can keep things organized in our head, and how it shoul...

Writing 101 w/ Tomb, Lesson 1: Plot Holes and Retcons

Hello, Kanzenshuu viewers! I've been a part of this community for a while now, and I must say, I've had loads of fun discussing and debating things over in the Super board. One thing that I've noticed quite a bit, however, is a lack of understanding of key narrative components in writing from some p...

Re: Super Episode 129 (4 March 2018)

Things I Liked: -The last 5 minutes were spectacular, no denying that. -The commentary from Whis (more on the others later) was insightful and nice. -The second half of the episode looked great. -The overall narrative was well-done. Things I'm Mixed On: -Vegeta's speech was interesting, but I felt ...

Re: Rate the Tournament of Power Episodes, Part 3: Episodes 119-128

Appreciate every one of you that took the time out to post your thoughts! It's always a blast to read through everyone's collected opinions and comparing and contrasting them. It really gives me a sense of how varied and interesting our community (or maybe I just read too heavily into things, I dunn...

Rate the Tournament of Power Episodes, Part 3: Episodes 119-128

I debated whether or not to post this now or when the show wraps up in a month or two. I decided on doing it now as I'm sure many people will be posting topics on the arc's ending, the tournament as a whole, the series as a whole, etc. once that rolls around. Best to start this before it just feels ...

Re: A Super Serious Power Ranking for the Tournament of Power

I don't what's more impressive, you remembering all these names or putting them in an order and giving each one a description. Either way good job. I didn't remember all these names; I listed in asterisks the point where I had to start using the wiki. Uh, I mean, yeah! I've just got an amazi...

A Super Serious Power Ranking for the Tournament of Power

Only the most serious of posters should read on. This is definitely not a joke. Here we go: 1.) Dr. Rota (Clearly the strongest, but he never got to unveil his ultimate technique) 2.) Goku (No idea who this is; I think he's from that game, "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West") 3.) Vegeta (A ph...

Re: Super Episode 127 (11 February 2018)

Things I Liked: -17 continuing to try and think 2 steps ahead is enjoyable. -The fighting was alright; nothing amazing, but entertaining at least. -There was good character direction for 17, in my opinion. -The last 4 or 5 minutes was very well done. Things I'm Mixed On: -I actually only have one e...

Re: Super Episode 126 (4 February 2018)

You clearly haven't been reading my posts I also heavily criticized this episode for its flaws. I've said again and again how I understand how divisive it is. I simply loved it too. Not everything is as extreme left vs extreme right as you probably are. Maybe it's you who can't accept the positive ...

Re: Super Episode 126 (4 February 2018)

Man, Kanzenshuu has high expectations for a kids show that exists only to sell merchandise. Yes. We deserve only the best. /s Whenever I find myself being critical of the show, I just remember: there's nothing wrong with wanting it to be better; and it is what it is. As long as I'm able to deal wit...

Asura wrote:The biggest takeaway here is the person who wrote this episode was also responsible for Episode 119.
I didn't know this before I typed my review, but this makes a lot more sense as to why this episode didn't deliver for me on the writing front.

Re: Super Episode 126 (4 February 2018)

Things I Liked: -The action in the second half of the episode was quite good. -Toppo's degradation into thinking of nothing but survival was cool, albeit short-lived. -Vegeta had some pretty good character writing/moments. -Jiren finally got another badass moment, sixteen episodes later. Things I'm...

Re: Super Episode 125 (28 January 2018)

Things I Liked: -Great storyboarding and writing (mostly, anyway) in this episode. -The action flowed nicely and kept me thoroughly entertained. -Good showings for both 17 and Toppo in this episode. -GoD Toppo is awesome. -Freeza getting brutalized gave me DBZ flashbacks, and I loved it. Things I'm...

Re: Super Episode 124 (21 January 2018)

It was a nod to that episode. In episode 104, they complained they couldn't keep up with the fight and Daishinkan updated Godpad with a slow motion option. This time not even that option allowed them to watch the fight, meaning Dyspo has faster than before. Ah, I see. Must've missed that then. Than...

Re: Super Episode 124 (21 January 2018)

Things I Liked: -Gohan and Freeza's strategy was very interesting. -Emphasis on strategy while still keeping power levels in mind was appreciated by me personally. -The writing in general was solid this episode. -I liked Dyspo's showing; I figured he was Universe 11's #3 for a reason, and he didn't...

Re: Do you think Dragonball Super Anime is well written?

This is a difficult question to answer as it is very broad, something I believe our mod was alluding to. As such, the short answer is "it depends." To go into more detail though, there are instances of great writing in the show. The opening of the Future Trunks Arc was done brilliantly, cr...

Re: How would you feel if the erased universes/fighters are NOT brought back?

It depends on how they handled it. If it ends up being like the FT arc, where the writers present us with a dark ending in concept, yet everyone on U7 is just all smiles for some reason, with no regard for the TRILLIONS of lives that were just lost, then yeah I would have a major problem with that....

Re: Super Episode 120 (17 December 2017)

Things I Liked: -Very good action, mainly in the first half of the episode. -17 and 18 are basically the MVPs of the tournament in my eyes. -Loving the actual teamwork with Universe 7; shame it took so many episodes to get to this point. -Gohan got a good showing, a nice turnaround compared to earl...

Re: Goku's Stamina In Battle: A Deeper Look At Self Improvement

I'm sure it's been brought up in other conversations and bits of context, but I don't see it mentioned here yet, and I'd like to throw it in. Why isn't anyone here bringing up the idea of the "runner's high"? I sort of alluded to this point when I brought up the Caulifla/Kale point, but I...

Re: Super Episode 119 (10 December 2017)

Things I Liked: -Seeing all the members of Universe 7 fighting in one episode was actually really cool. -It (sometimes) felt like there was actually camaraderie with Universe 7 (Piccolo saving Gohan and assisting 18, Goku saving 17, etc.) -The ideas for the Universe 4 fighters were pretty cool. -Ve...
