Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread
Goku has been training his whole life and he's still weaker than Freeza. Both times they fought Goku only won because of a miracle (A legendary transformation nobody had seen in 1,000 years and then Freeza's own hubris). Hot take, but I actually think Goku isn't gifted and has average potential for...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I wasn’t really saying that Daima “is” a remake to GT. You’re right that that’s probably not the intention, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a comparison made by people producing the anime. It certainly will be one by the people who are watching it. I absolutely do think the absence of Whis ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread
Not that this needs explaining, but "gas left in the tank" is so vague it can mean anywhere from 20% to 90% stamina remaining. Goku asked a general question that was answered in the affirmative, and there's not a single thing implying that Gohan was particularly exhausted. It was a pretty...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
As far as I can see, there is no evidence that Daima doesn't fall within the Super timeline. The absence of Beerus and Whis isn't evidence. Regardless, Daima is still a product of the Revival/Modern era, therefore it will share story beats with Super. I don't see this series having anything in commo...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
What I find very interesting is the people who don't want Super to exist (a very selfish position), but are simultaneously fine with GT existing. How is it even possible? How is it possible to hate Super with such passion, but don't hate GT in the same way? It's not like GT's writing, art/animation,...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Just re-read MUI Goku vs Moro. In terms of narrative substance it's easily one of the worst fights in the history of the franchise. Goku acts so insanely, blindingly stupid it actually hurts to read, he spends 20 pages not killing Moro... for no real reason at all and almost threw the whole fight a...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Oh boy do I hope that Daima won't have any terrible asspulls like pretty much everything about Super Perfect Cell. Hopefully Daima aligns more with Super than Z in terms of writing. Hopefully, it aligns more with the original (or the Pre-Saiyan sagas for manga purists) in terms of writing. Both wer...

This thread is a good reminder to never judge a book by Page 5.

Re: The Original Movie 14.
By that logic, wouldn't the Future Trunks Saga be a trainwreck because it's "edgy, dark and melodramatic"? Well, No, because everyone makes fun of Zamasu and his shtick (whimsical) and everyone went to party after the Multiverse was erased (whimsical). Actually, Toei was surprisingly tame...

Re: The Original Movie 14.
The original script sounds like the Cell arc (edgy, dark, melodramatic) with some GT sprinkled in (edgy new form that is trying way too hard to look cool).
Terrible and boring.
I am so glad that the movie was reworked to align more closely with the original whimsical and funny roots of Dragon Ball.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
The franchise was already being milked in the 1990s with the yearly Toei movies which are a just reskin of "Goku fights strong guy, Goku gets mad and activates transformation, Goku kills strong guy". True, 13 movies within the run time of the Z series (as well as certain other areas) is u...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread
There's pretty much nothing any Saiyan can do if Beerus decides to use Hakai on them.
What is Broly going to do if Beerus decides to use Hakai on him? Tank it? It's not happening.
No one has ever tanked Hakai besides Anime Golden Frieza, which was the usual Toei wanking for the Villains.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
He probably wanted to make those because the Editors told him that Dragon Ball was too popular to end at Namek saga. So how is it any different from Super? The very quote you posted above shows us that Toriyama ultimately chose not to leave Dragon Ball. I must say this: Despite our seemingly heated...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
It's not that I'm opposed to new DB content, I like BoG (movie version) and Super Hero. While I do enjoy both of these as well for the most part and think they're the only revival material strong enough to justify the revival's existence at all, my core position has always been "We never neede...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
How is Super milking the franchise? The Anime lasted 3 years and ended in 2018. Since then, we've only had two movies. Two movies in 6 years is really not a lot when you consider that DBZ was getting a new movie every year. We went almost 4 years (Broly movie-Super Hero movie) without any new anima...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Its just never shown to be that way in the past, where Goku can get impaled and then actually get a power up because of Adrenaline. When Vegeta broke Gokus legs in saiyan arc, his legs were just broken. It didn’t matter how much Goku wanted to save his friends or how much he loved his family, Gokus...
