Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
It seems the revival gave him the opportunity to retcon/recontextualize things that interviews couldn't. Like "Goku gives 0 fucks about his friends, only fighting, nothing else", yet he almost got himself killed by Tambourine due to his friend, friend who also prompted the SS transformatio...

Re: Is Super on its way out?
Nah, the manga has at least 2 more years left, and one could assume Toei won't let the last few stories Toriyama was involved in fade away without being animated. I'd say it'll run for half a decade more.

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"
I wonder if those that ask for non-political commitment from authors and whatnot are aware that their own request is a bold political statement on itself. You are asking them to subscribe to the status quo, to keep quiet, to limit their expressions, thus continuing with the current political agenda/...

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"
I think I get DBIreland's point, if you don't read that interview, you'd never know Freeza was based off land sharks. So it definitely influenced his Freeza's portrayal, you can't dispute that, but there isn't much of that on the pages to back it up. Toriyama didn't do much with it, Freeza's goal on...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Yeah, I never heard anything from the people that matter about going beyond EoZ. In fact, based on them coming up with 10 fucking arcs between Buu and EoZ, more than Z ever had, half of them after the anime ended, cramming 5 arcs together in such a short amount of time that was supposed to be a peri...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I was just watching Piccolo's scene after Geets blows himself up vs Buu, he says he is now fighting for others and this deserves his respect. By now Piccolo respects everybody I guess, but did Yamcha or Chaozu ever do something to earn Piccolo's respect, like Vegeta did? I assume he respected Tenshi...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
I'm not sure Toei will now diverge from Toriyama's stories. Probably, out of respect they'll keep it as it is, with minor tweaks or filler scenes, like Moro's rampage, the one eons ago and prior to his arrival on Earth, were his magical powers could stretch its legs. Also the perfect chance to explo...

Re: By Super, Bulma has become corrupt like any early series villain
I disagree. Bulma is vain and selfish but not even close to be a soft villain. She collects the DBs just in case, and when nothing happens, she uses them for selfish wishes due to her own insecurities. She is not building empires or destroying wildlife, she just gets rid of her wrinkles, and does so...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
Not sure if this is the right thread, but I've been dying to see more Toriyama interviews. I just realised I didn't even know his voice until his passing, or his mannerisms, not until I watched a 1983, Dr Slump-oriented interview. Not counting the written ones, available on the main site, I wonder i...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Well, Golden Freeza isn't a particularly inspired idea to begin with, but I would argue that it works better with him than Cooler since it better plays to Freeza's character: It makes sense that a petty and vain person like him would want his new form to be gold. Plus there's the implication that h...

Re: Justin Chatwin apologizes for Dragonball Evolution
Nothing to apologize for, really. I wouldn't expect him, or anybody, to be fucking Marlon Brando and take the movie to wherever they felt like, he was actually ok, all things considered. But the sentiment is appreciated.
At least he has more decency than the director.

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
I don't think I want to see more Goku stories, not anymore. I'm willing to let Goku go, this goes for the entire main cast. I hope there are some stories about them ready to be told (like Daima), written somewhere that will come to life soon enough, but I'd prefer Goku's journey, which was already o...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread
Recently, Beerus said something about Goku surpassing him. While not an actual Chekhov's gun, it could be hinting towards something like it. I was expecting that to happen in a Toriyama movie where UI would debut, but now I don't even know, and honestly, not sure if I care. Probably, out of respect ...

Let's hope all the hiatus, retellings and little silly filler arcs, were used to prepare new material in advance.

I ...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 3/4/24!)
The SS transformation kicked me out faster than camping in CS. I was so invested in Goku's silly journey until bam... blond hair, and then I automatically signed off. That fucker came out of nowhere. Even if they were trying to link this with the finale, I'd rather see Goku Jr. show SS for the first...

Re: The All-Purpose "Versus" Thread
Let's have a little fun. Let us assume that Gero's drones have been working much earlier and more efficiently that they create a new version of Cell based on 5 fighters from each arc. Who is the strongest opponent each version of Cell can defeat? Assume the version of Cell is already Perfect. 1. Ce...

I'm a sucker for the twin GoDs of U6 and 7. Also Irico and Jaco. They all crack me up like only Kid Goku and Kid Krilin knew how.
I like Jiren, I love Broly, and I wanted to like Granola, but I'm not sure how I feel about him now. Hit was cool, too.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 102 - Official Discussion Thread
Funny thing is in the super manga Gohan already had a rage boost moment against Moro, and it amounted to nothing. And it was in response to Goku being in extreme mortal danger!: https://i.imgur.com/Y8vM5Vl.png https://i.imgur.com/eVhO7LB.png (Gohan Beast haters rise up) I actually like the form, I ...
