Re: Favorite characters?
Not to put words in Silva's mouth but I'm pretty sure they don't mean they're a 1 to 1 with Roshi. Even the worst weirdos aren't as bad as Roshi. Remember how he shrunk himself so he could sit in the toilet and watch Bulma pee?

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
At this point, I’m sure Salagir is basically writing a troll fic. As all fanfiction should be. That's a said reading experience you have suffered through if you hate all fan fiction. It was a joke. I've read lots of great fanfiction. But you gotta admit that nothing beats a good troll fic.

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
It's not arbitrary. Raditz and any other fighter would need to be strong just to exist in Freeza's army, other wise you'd just be assigned to some nothing posting, or worse, be assigned to Freeza's personal vessels and probably get randomly killed due to Freeza's whim. Had Goku ran with his own kin...

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
I actually do NOT accept that Raditz's strength is "arbitrary". He was a Saiyan soldier working under Freeza (alongside Nappa and Vegeta), it was pretty much his job to be a strong enough fighter. However, even if we were to assume it was arbitrary, it does not mean it does not make sense...

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
It does: genetics, which is about as realistic as you can get. Bodybuilders, power-lifters, fighters and strongmen don't really have a better knowledge of anatomy, dieting and exercise than a good coach or sports scientist, yet they're the ones competing and breaking records because of their inhere...

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
...how does that not make sense? On what logical basis did you conclude that because Goku and Piccolo could "manipulate their ki" (even though raditz used his own ki blasts???), they should have been stronger than Raditz? Because that means they understand fighting on a level that Raditz ...

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
What was up with the Zamasu arc and conjuring massively powerful weapons out of nowhere?? Black and his scythe was another thing that made me just go "what even are the rules here???" I realize saying this makes me that guy but there were never any rules. Raditz being "stronger"...

Re: Goku ranked Numero Uno idiot hero
If it's the point of Gon it's done rather poorly being in Chimera Ant the author attempts to give him a particular moment near the end there where he has to self reflect, nearly dies, then it's all smashed to pieces once he wakes up and doesn't even acknowledge Kite and is happy go lucky smiling li...

Re: Goku ranked Numero Uno idiot hero
Gon does not understand people at the very most basic of levels. Sure Goku is an idiot in Super but that's also them making him more and more selfish. Gon literally doesn't understand or even acknowledge basic things. He has no actual reflection on his actions he'll simply next chapter be the same ...

Re: How can people claim that Z had worse powerscaling/powerjumps than Super?
You can make the argument. From its very first power up Dragon Ball has played it fast and loose with scaling, whereas Super has emphasized that skill and experience can close some power gaps. That's a completely alien concept to Dragon Ball proper where experience doesn't mean anything. Not entire...

Re: Can Dragon Ball Work In Live-Action?
The kind of CGI you all have in mind is prohibitively expensive. The MCU can do it because those films reliably make stupid amounts of money. They can afford the $100 million dollar price tag that kind of spectacle comes with. Best case scenario (stars aligning level of good luck) for Dragon Ball wo...

Re: Can Dragon Ball Work In Live-Action?
I think it could work, but it would need to be heavily CG based. If I were making an origin Goku movie I'd actually make kid Goku full CG and have actors play Bulma, Roshi and Yamcha. That'd be a nightmare to actually do and probably wouldn't look too convincing. Just hire a decent kid actor. They'...

Re: Can Dragon Ball Work In Live-Action?
I'd argue that the original DB is the only one that comes close to being able to be recreated in live-action. If only because it's clearly reverent of old school chinese martial arts film. A movie that veers to the wuxia stuff would work. But then again, there are plenty of Journey to the west adap...

Re: Which is the character that you don't like
I've made my peace with all the characters in the original manga run. I may be frustrated with where the story took them but ultimately they all have enough redeeming qualities that I can't actually dislike them. Outside the manga is a different story. Case in point. I hate Tarble. Everything about ...

Re: Audience "Stand-In" characters (Cole Young) and Narrative Liberties with Live Action Dragon Ball
An audience stand-in isn't about relatability. At least not usually. Their outsider status is usually there so that things about the setting can be explained to the audience without breaking immersion. Why are these characters talking about things they should already know? Because Joe Schmuckatelli ...

I vaguely remember some quote from the internet (the most reliable resource) that said something about 1/7 NSDAP members being closet gays or some shit (Ernst Rohm was one of them) But of course, let's keep the subject in line with the topic Gays, lesbians, and other assorted queers being coded as ...

Re: What is the most ORIGINAL Dragon Ball arc?
Saiyan Arc : More because of how it stands out when compared to the rest of Dragon Ball. The characters are all very well developed, the villain is beaten by being worn down (instead of just one big overwhelming move), Goku actually humbles himself and begs for his son's life, literally everything ...
