Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray
The broadcast audio is straight up lifted from the group of fans on that synced the BA to the DBOX and released it on the internet. It has the exact same fixes and corrections that they did themselves.

Re: Rebuilding the Dragon Ball Z Character Color Design Sheets for Color Correction
Also Edit: Can someone create a thread similar to the Color Correcting one? I got disappointed when I came back to the site and saw it locked. Our group will make a thread here once we complete one of our color-corrected series releases since it'll be more useful than comparing 50 different variati...

Re: Fan group scanning/remastering of multi-generational film prints previously owned by FUNimation
Not sure if this counts as piracy or not since it's only part of the movie and it's literally the only way to see it like this, but the full reel was uploaded to the Internet Archive. It's quite something.

Re: Dragon Ball on American TV - A Concise History
Funimation aired their test dub of OG Dragon Ball where Goku was named "Zero" in August 1995 at a 1pm timeslot on KtZZ. I have never heard of the test dub actually airing. Do you have a source for this? Cartoon Network aired the three episode version of Tree of Might on 29 January 1999 at...

Re: AB Video to release OG Dragon Ball on Blu-Ray
Funimation didn't get anything except op 1 and Ed 4 They got the 2nd ed. The 4th ed was used for the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai to reflect the characters were adults now. i so crunchy roll and Sony would only have what they did They can get different masters. They would have to because the digibetas th...

Re: Time Frame On a Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT HD Remaster
I fear that you could be right about this. I just cannot fathom in my mind how all of these anime classics, and even cult classics have received the proper HD treatment, and the #1 money making anime franchise in the world has to sit there and be subject to this bad level of treatment. You just sai...

Re: Time Frame On a Dragon Ball/DBZ/DBGT HD Remaster
DBZ has already been "remastered", in Japan it's called Kai, in America it was "remastered" for the FUNi BDs. Both of these came from new film scans. Regardless of how shitty they are, people bought and are still buying the FUNi BDs so there is no incentive to release any other k...

Re: Goku is disabled
Goku is just a country hick who didn't interact with the "real" world for most of his child life. That, combined with his natural laid-back nature, pretty much explains his entire personality. There is nothing more to it than that since I doubt Toriyama was thinking more than "haha fu...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular
Look at the green tint around the lines of her hair and eyes, also her skin is generally kind of blotchy with green spots in the raw DBOX, all of which are a product of chromatic abberation, which is removed in our version.

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular
Not quite sure I understand your response. There's nothing wrong with sharing, for example, specific tricks you use, things to look out for that someone fresh to the trade might not know to look for, and/or even specific strings within your AVIsynth scripting. I didn't do the work myself, someone e...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular
Has anyone been able to fix some other things besides color correcting? Like dot crawl, edge enhancement, chroma correcting, etc.? I think the most qualified here is Ikaos and his team. Most of that stuff is done with avisynth Short answer is yes, although I can't really get into specifics on this ...

Re: Differences Between the Subtitle Translations
Out of curiosity, I wanted to see the differences between the Japanese-to-English subtitle translations from the fansub groups and the official releases. FANSUB GROUPS Original Dialogue : 何者だ? 貴 様 この俺 様に用でもあるのか? (Nanimonoda? Kisama kono oresama ni yōde mo aru no ka?) a-S (Anime-Supreme) https://i.p...

Re: Isn’t It In Toei’s/Funimation’s Legal Right to Use The Original Broadcast Audio on Future Releases?
Toei also censored middle fingers in recent Blu-Ray releases of Movies, so yeah..unless it's competent company like Discotek, i wouldn't trust Toei/Funimation for decent release of DB/DBZ/DBGT. I don’t care what anyone says I would like a company like discotek to have the rights because I can’t sta...

Considering if Super is any indication of the quality of what a "midquel" is...
No. I don't think I will. I don't trust any of the current creatives, including Toriyama himself, of being able to craft any type of coherent and engaging story with these characters anymore.

Re: did Yamamoto's plagiarism contribute to the dbz = rock music mentality?
I mean, I'm pretty sure many English speakers associate DBZ with rock music due to the rock music (or rock-like music) used as the replacement score in DBZ. The "Next time on Dragon Ball Z..." electric guitar riff likely being the most iconic. It's nice to reminisce about some fan videos,...
