Re: 15th Anniversary of the Kenji Yamamoto controversy.
That's pretty interesting. I'm still suspicious of it though, given that BPU was in the show, unless somehow every single person responsible for making a DBZ song compilation just totally missed it.
It's a track that was used in-series 9 months after its CD release rather than being made with ...

Re: 15th Anniversary of the Kenji Yamamoto controversy.
Battle Point Unlimited was kept off compilations despite being in the fucking show unlike a lot of the lame image songs.

Re: The Faulconer score but in a Kikuchi way, remade by me
This was actually on point, although I understand why the beginning portion is all that could really make it in (for now).
That part actually wasn't even intentional haha; with the Kikuchi score, damn near everything is in F-minor so when I lowered the faulconer song to that pitch it just wound ...

Re: Hans Zimmer and a Dragon Ball live-action movie
That made me think that, in retrospect, Kenji Yamamoto took that Hollywood approach to the point of plagiarizing soundtracks from Hollywood films such as Avatar and Terminator: Salvation.
The guy actually told on himself on that one too:

Re: Hans Zimmer and a Dragon Ball live-action movie
The composers post-Kikuchi keep going for this sort of Hollywood-esque sound, so I'd say there's definitely a desire to make Dragon Ball appeal to some weird take on 'leigitimate music scoring' or whatever the fuck. Either way, I've largely thought that the scores from Sumitomo and all of the ...

Re: Hans Zimmer and a Dragon Ball live-action movie
But yeah, the decision to hire Zimmer just feels really "Trying to look legitimate" which just comes across as a major turn-off. Japanese film and television have gained their popularity around the world without trying silly nonsense like that. This is a big reason why I've also been turned off by ...

Well I'll be... they actually got the guy himself into this franchise. Guess they were really desperate to break the curse.
(And the arranger is Tom Lucas, haven't heard of that one.)

Re: Toei Animation Europe's Dragon Ball strategies - could this mean morer dubs and a better situation between AB and To
It's utterly ridiculous that one of the most important and influential anime EVER exists, cannot warrant a proper higher quality release.
If the original source (FILM) exists, use that master for Blu-ray.
This picture is from Toei vault with Dragon Ball GT films; seriously, IT'S RIGHT THERE ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
It's really bad synth shit that sounds right out of an 80s cyberpunk movie or something & it plays WAY too much to the point where it's distracting from the scenes.
Or alternatively, some 90's shovelware video game soundtrack derivative of those 80's cyberpunk movie scores (which themselves are ...

You’re probably never gonna hear a fan of that score praises the fax machine breaking down noises that makes up 20-60 percent of the American soundtrack in a given episode or the “Hey you stupid child! The characters said a joke! Here’s some silly music because you’re stupid and we need you to know ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
I've said this many times in the past, but that right there has always been one of my main problems with Funi's Z dub.
In additional to replacing Kikuchi's score, that replacement score rarely ever shuts up (the only times I can think of is when Vegeta dies in the Namek arc and a brief moment ...

Franchise management throwing guaranteed wins away like the characters do
So basically, I'm sure we're all familiar with how, for different reasons, a few notable protagonist characters (or deuteragonist depending on the point in time) go out of their way to reject the easiest paths to victory when they're on top, whether that's pride, carelessness, or w/e else.
It's ...

Re: I'm genuinely tired of the endless wars in the DB fandom.
It sort of tends to happen when you have what's effectively an empire of a series on your hands.
And of course, most of its fans aren't anywhere near close to graduating from this low level of discourse, as there are blind spots aplenty.
It also happens that when you want to find a new angle to ...

Re: Is there any point in collecting the Dragon Boxes in 2022?
Which kind of sucks and frustrating, since those are the most important and influential era for anime; at least for my generation.
Modern anime like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, etc. owes a lot to those series.
Respect the past, embrace the future.
An anime that is important Dragon Ball should ...

Typical Toei.
Yes, so any time you see an anime TV series from the 20th Century (at least the 80's-90's period) getting a sensible, high quality release, chances are you won't see Toei on the list of studios these belong to.
The only exception to this I can think of is Slam Dunk or so ...

We are far more likely to see Crunchymation do another steelbook release or Collector’s Edition of Z than see Toei do a physical media release.
And the chances of even that are getting lower and lower, Sony's got its own new series to shill (completely unrelated to DB of course), and it's only a ...
