Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
To get "Cosmopolitan" from Mosuko" was a real hazard. Moscato wine (welcome to europe, guys !!) it's more sensed. It's the other way around, really: "Moscato" is quite the stretch. I mean, it's "mosuko", not "mosuka"... It's also possible that Herez come...

Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
I've never heard anyone abbreviate "cosmopolitan" into "cosmo" but if its common in Japan I suppose that would make sense. Just to be clear, my problem was mainly with the Youtube video linked above (as well as some other posts elsewhere). I think your theory for that particular...

Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
Hmm... Still seems like a stretch, being a rearrangement of an abbreviation and all but maybe. A fairly common abbreviation, even in Japan. And of course, rearrangements like that are common place in Dragon Ball (like "Iwan"/"wine" and "Kitera"/"tequila", in ...

Re: The New Gods of the Universe Survival Arc Discussion Thread
Quick post because I personally disagree with some of the theories I see here and there regarding the pun names: 1st Universe: "Iwan", probably from "wine" 2nd Universe: "Heresu", probably from "Helles" 3rd Universe: "Mosuko", probably from "cos...

Re: Why Mr. Steve Simmons left Japanese honorifics?
Are these same people going to watch the shows in Japanese? It certainly doesn't look like it, when you consider the claims that damn near "all anime fans prefer dubs." If someone is willing to watch a show subtitled, that means they're open to learning new things. Just because you watch ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
All humanoid characters were given 5 digits because they would have to pay a fine to show characters with less on TV. Due to Japan's history, they don't like to show anything that could be related to yubitsume, the act of cutting off a finger to pay for a crime (usually associated with the Yakuza)....

Re: Official levels from Jump. Finally Cell's and Buu's saga
if all that bought Weekly and V-Jump never noticed it, it's unlikely that the page is real... On top of everything Herms said already (and that should be more than enough), there isn't a single furigana on that page, and you can bet there would be, in an official Dragon Ball-related article by the ...

Re: Ooishi Doing V-Jump Manga
IMHO his sealife theme, shark fin and all, means that it probably could be taken from caviar (キャビア Kyabia) plus the kaiju-name suffix -(j)ira. Suffix that comes from "kujira" / "whale". My first guess was "caterpillar" (so the two bad guys would have bug-based name pun...

Re: Puar's accurate name translation "Pooal"?
Well, unless Toriyama wrote it as "Pooal", then I don't really think of it as automatically 100% official. Heck, aren't there even names he wrote out that we don't think of as automatically 100% official? The "Kulilin" hat on Namek comes to mind. Well, when he's not consistent...

Re: Mutaito - Title or Name?
"Mu Taito" and "Muten Rôshi" both sound like art-names to me... I thought that Tortue Géniale was the French translation of Kame-sennin rather than Muten Roushi . It is. Why "Géniale", you'd have to ask them though (and I wouldn't expect a very satisfying reply anyway, ...

Re: Dragon Ball databook ideas
Updated Daizenshû, with a clearer separation between "the universe of the manga" (and by that, you know I actually kinda mean "canonical info") and the rest (animation, goods, games, and yes, even the live action movie).

Re: Who beat Freeza on Earth in Future Trunks' timeline?
What Olivier's saying is that the difference in time experienced/aging process happens at any difference in speed. A person in a fast moving train is "aging less" than a person standing at the station it's going past. It's just ridiculously small. Yup, you'd need to go at at least one ten...

if your unfamiliar with that logic then I can see how you could misunderstand.. The theory has a lot of popularity behind it, Einstein has a popular saying and there are many popular saying about it. Re: Who beat Freeza on Earth in Future Trunks' timeline?
There's no such thing as time. It's a popular POV in the scientific community. Never heard? I don't think it's quite as simple as you make it sound, really... I don't think near light speed was neccessary for that to be possible... We would have to display probably 10-20x the speed that we possess ...

Re: Who beat Freeza on Earth in Future Trunks' timeline?
time isn't real in all reality.. ? this is just the same thing as a guy going in a ship with massive g forces or whatnot... If you travel at certains speeds time moves slower for you than for others, and I'm talking aging process wise as well... Which is where the whole point of flying real fast ou...

Re: Who beat Freeza on Earth in Future Trunks' timeline?
Isn't that time travel logic wrong though? Because if you go back in time and kill your father or something, then you wouldn't even exist in the first place. You shouldn't even exist, grow up and be able to go back in time if your father's death before your birth has happened already. That's genera...

Re: What happened to the Z Fighters in Cell's Timeline?
It's a little stretchish , but if the blueprints for the shutdown remotes were different to the blueprints for the androids themselves, they might have found them in the remains of the main lab and never found the secret lab. In which case, Trunks would know where Gero's lab was, but he wouldn't kn...

Re: What happened to the Z Fighters in Cell's Timeline?
"But how would Piccolo even know what Mecha-Freeza and Cold looked like?", you might ask... Sonar imagery, of course! He has huge bat ears! That, or Trunks gave everybody a colorful recounting of the fight while they were waiting for Gokû: "and then he was like "WHERE DID HE GO?!...
