Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

Wow, first, I'm amazed this thread is still going. I posted this in February 2012 and it'll be 10 years next month. I want to say that this thread was meant to give people the ability to color correct the Dragon Box (or whatever anime) themselves using free tools. There was so much fighting back the...

Did anyone buy Dragon Box / Level Sets from "stayfly1989" on eBay?

Hi guys, It's been a while, and my life has been absolutely crazy. I'm sorry if this is inappropriate; I'm sure Mike'll smack me if it is, but I'm really not sure where to ask this and I figured it might be worth reaching out here since the community for these rare, expensive discs is pretty small.....

Re: Missing/Rare DB/Z/GT NEP's/Promos/Videos.etc

This is more dub related, but on the Rock the Dragon release, which version of Tree of Might did they use? It's the Ian Corlett version I'm pretty sure, but they used the movie edit, right? Because when that originally aired on Saturday mornings as separate episodes, it had its own next episode prev...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular

Hey, I haven't had a lot of time to post over here as of recent times, however, I think it's great this thread is still going and people are exploring new methods and ideas. The information in the first post is pretty outdated, and unfortunately I do not have time to completely redo this thread. Als...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

It's just a really bizarre way of tackling the mandates, and while it's true that additional standards beyond the Harding test vary from channel to channel, there's no indication that Toonami had any sort of excessive rules on top of what's legally required. I think this is disingenuous? I mean, br...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

One thing I noticed about the dub is they used 'Battle Power' vs. 'Power Level.' I haven't kept up with the dub; is this a recent change in style?

Re: Did the Pioneer staff just redraw Goku and Vegeta for one of their DVD releases?

It's whatever art they were given, cleaned up. The Pioneer discs feels like they exhausted every piece of art they got. That Dragonball DVD may have sourced the cover from screenshots but they were all redrawn and look fine. Sometimes you don't get tons of art for shows. For our Lupin series 2 cover...

Re: Has Dragon Ball been remastered to HD or not?

NTSC Digibetas are 720x486... "more resolution in pal" is kind of a misnomer when you convert something from NTSC to PAL. Usually it's scaled a bit to compensate. This is an upscale, but a pretty good one. If it's official or not, I don't know, but what gives it away are these shots: https...

Re: fake blue bricks?

A lot of things are getting bootlegged now. True Tears hasn't even hit street date and apparently our set has already been bootlegged. So has that HUGE Ghibli set that Disney put out a while back. I expect to see our Fist of the North Star set pop up bootlegged soon. That's just how it is, it seems....

Re: All-purpose Dragon Ball sale/trade thread.

I'm selling my Dragon Box collection, and a bunch of other things, since the property tax in my area went up really high and I need to pay it off before the end of the month. Appreciate any look people can take.

Re: Current state of the Toonami Asia English dub?

Actually, the reason(s) for the Ocean DBZ dubs was not because of Canadian broadcasting standards, the Saban episodes were produced by Funimation and aired in pretty much every English-speaking country and the Westwood portion, as far as know was made because of Cartoon Network UK, YTV, whatever Du...

Re: What do you guys think of fan "remasters"?

Honestly, this thread would be more interesting and have a place to go if Enigmo talked about what his actual methods were vs. just posting his screenshots. At this point it's just went around in circles about 3 or 4 times with people arguing about sharpening, etc. If I had time I'd update my guide ...

Re: What do you guys think of fan "remasters"?

There's nothing wrong with doing fan remasters. You're learning a skill. You can then apply it to real work later on. People on this forum know how much I toyed with the Dragon Box footage 3 or 4 years back and I learned a lot in that process. Neat to look over your pics! I will say, though: -The li...

Re: What if Discotek/sentai filmworks released Z on bluray?

In addition to what Tyro showed, I too had my share of issues albeit they were minor. On the Dr. Slump Movies set the picture quality sometimes would show how badly pixelated it was and why didn't Discotek use DVD9s instead? I believe that's how the video was handed to us; it should be identical to...

Re: What if Discotek/sentai filmworks released Z on bluray?

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED. Let's see. -It would probably take a year or two from announcement because holy crap this is a lot of episodes to take care of. -I'd probably try to color correct the Dragon Box footage to various results. Or get frustrated and give up. -We would take Mike up on his kind offer ...

Re: Emon's new DVD re-release of Dr. Slump in Spain

I know the head of Discotek would like to do an English version of it, but the sales vs. expenses on doing the subs are quite tricky. Though the movie set did better than expected, I think.

I think the most any foreign release has gotten to is perhaps the 70s? :( As far as I know, it's only been released completely on DVD in Japan?

Re: FUNi changed the title card text for the BDs?

I think the current ones look fine. The old one was a freeware Star Trek font, and I always thought it looked out of place. http://www.fontspace.com/allen-r-walden/final-frontier The idea of 'you made it, don't change it', I understand that. But the thing is; Those old titles were done in SD. For HD...
