Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I wasn’t really saying that Daima “is” a remake to GT. You’re right that that’s probably not the intention, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a comparison made by people producing the anime. It certainly will be one by the people who are watching it. I absolutely do think the absence of Whis a...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
The silliness of "My Dragon Ball Era is better than YOUR Dragon Ball Era" is honestly besides the point. How good Daima is or isn't is going to be unrelated to any previous series, and is something that can be determined both on its own merits and the merits of as a work of art in general...

I feel like that video all but proves that people just chose to forget how shitty Super looked even during the supposed "better years."sangofe wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 2:46 pm Great video with information about Daima: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvSOO2w ... llyNotMark

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Super has consistent and logical writing. Pretty much everything that happens in Super has a given reason. There are no "inexplicable plot holes" from Super. Even if a development seems completely random or sudden, the story provides some kind of reasoning for it. Also, Yes, it is an impo...

Re: Frieze's role more obvious than it seems
I mean...Freeza had the coldest pull up in DragonBall history--it's not surprising that people still talk about Black Freeza.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
With Super...I don't really get the impression that Toriyama was on the front lines ensuring that Toei "respected" Dragon Ball. Like the exploitation of Dragon Ball was already happening from the get-go, and Toriyama was okaying a number of suspect shit anyways, in addition to the things h...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 103 - Official Discussion Thread
Just to add from myself Toyotaro's post on Threads regarding Toriyama and Goku, I'm not sure what he was referring to although I can guess. "I wonder if Mr. Toriyama didn't like the trend of Goku being made into a saint...". https://www.threads.net/@toyotaro_vjump/post/C4xeqvSRxw-/ I mean...

Re: Is Super on its way out?
Well, part of the reason why this idea of ending it at 28th Tournament is superior, is because that is the original ending Toriyama planned for the story. Super is supposed to be part of Toriyama's original story. It is not a sequel, it is not a continuation of the original story; it is retroactive...

Re: Is Super on its way out?
Like I always say: Super will never go past EoZ, and I most certainly don't want Super to recontextualize EoZ to fit in any of its bullshit. As far as I'm concerned, EoZ is fine the way it is. "Updating" EoZ feels like a slap in the face to Z's legacy, and it will absolutely be worse for i...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 103 - Official Discussion Thread
It's a bit of a 'whatever' chapter, but I felt like the ending silent montage was done well and captured a good mood. Gokuu forgetting who Pan is is such a bad and pointless moment, it doesn't really do or say anything and isn't even funny. Hopefully everyone on Toyo-tarou's team gets to rest for a...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 103 - Official Discussion Thread
Hard not to associate that chapter title with recent events and the relationship between Toriyama and Toyotarou. I'm looking forward to seeing if this chapter will include some kind of tribute. nothing major. Just a note by the english language team that they are deeply sorry about Toriyama's passi...

Re: Is Super on its way out?
Not to dump on anyone who enjoys the manga, but to be honest it feels like the manga has outlived its purpose. The manga seems more like it's a curiosity to most people that I've interacted with online and people I know personally haven't even read more than a couple chapters if at all. That's actu...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Weirdly enough, The thing about the half breed saiyans not having the will to improve and push themselves like their full blooded fathers always kind of rubbed me the wrong way, at least when you incorporate the context of the original DB. When Goku went through his adventures as a kid, he contende...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I also don't see why some people need blood and gore to enjoy a Dragon Ball series. TBF: I think the censoring robs some of the fights of their intensity. Like, I’ve always hated how every recreation of the “Full Nelson!” sacrifice censors Piccolo’s attack going through Goku. And I do think it does...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Dragon Ball has no canon and never did. It's more of a western concept. Just enjoy what you enjoy regardless of what anyone thinks. This is the correct answer. Especially when Toriyama has been forthcoming that he pretty made a lot of Dragon Ball up on the go. Attempting to apply a "Marvel lev...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
So... this is it?... My friend Toyble actually OWNS Dragon Ball now?! This is very sad news. Happy Toyble can officially add his designs for Xicor and SS5, but still... very very sad. The answer is..it's Toei. It's always been Toei. I don't think Toriyama's passing will effect Super or Daima all th...

Sandland's glowup seems to be so random and sudden. Like I guess it's a good time to be a creator with a handfull of stories, because good lord or these companies desperate for content.
