Re: Dragon Ball Z 2015 Film

Very exciting news! If the one image we have is anything to go by, I expect that this film will be set after the Cell arc at least, because Goku is a Super Saiyan, and appears to be using Instant Transmission. I also think due to the fact that this appears to be releasing roughly when the Kai Buu Ar...

Re: Dragon Ball Kai--What Went Wrong?

Steering clear of the very tempting "fucking everything" response, I feel that although there are many, many problems with Kai, the root lies in the fact that it wasn't re-animated. However, here is each reason Kai failed for me personally: 1. It didn't start at the beginning The concept o...

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods

If this is true, I think we can safely assume that Dragon Box-era FUNimation are dead, and that they now only treat DBZ as a nostalgia cash cow. I really don't want it to be true, but this poster looks surprisingly real. Time will tell, I suppose. I don't even care all that much for the dub, I'll mo...

Re: Any hope for Dragon Boxes in the UK?

We're likely never going to get the Dragon Boxes due to Toei not wanting to give out the footage. However, I feel like it would make business sense for Manga UK to do it, if it were ever possible. It wouldn't surprise me if people in the UK who bought Orange Bricks were willing to double dip. And, t...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

My copy showed up today. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BmqBG2PIUAAyXCq.jpg Haven't watched it yet. I don't really mind the packaging that much. Considering it only holds four discs rather than like 6, I prefer it to the UK Orange Brick packaging. The discs looking like Dragon Radars was also a nice to...

Re: Will you buy the Majin Boo arc when it's released on BD/

Welp, this is just the icing on the cake for me. I am absolutely finished with Kai. I'm glad I never bothered to start buying it. It's a shame really. If Kai had been a full remake, and Yamamoto was able to score the entire series, from start to finish, we would have had the definitive version of th...

Re: Should Norihito Sumitomo go back and re-score Kai?

After hearing some of his work, I've pretty much lost interest in Kai. If he did go back and re-score the rest at the very least we would have a consistent, albeit bland soundtrack. But at this point Kai is just such a clusterfuck to me. If an American fan bought the first printing of each Kai part,...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

Oh no! They've caught on to the 'banana bricks' name! They seemed to take it the wrong way, but I tried to explain to them that it's not really a negative label.

Viz English Jaco Graphic Novel Confirmed!

Not sure if this needs its own thread, but here we go anyway:

http://shonenjump.viz.com/node/2013

Viz has just confirmed that they will release a print edition of Jaco in January 2015, which makes this seem like a very early announcement. That's nearly a year away!

Re: Buu Saga Kai

So, we know that there's going to be a new composer for this arc. How likely is it that he'll go back and do the rest of Kai too? Because if he does, and it's a good score, AND FUNimation manage to re-release it somehow, I'll finally pick up Kai.

Dragon Ball Movie 1

So, if I'm correct, I've found that there is currently no way to own the first Dragon Ball movie with it's original Japanese title card. By the looks of things, the first uncut release was in 2010, and it has that white bar thing that FUNimation likes putting on their movies. Am I correct? If so, I'...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

Amazon have all five of these sets listed for pre-order. Looks like Manga want to get these all released by the end of the year. The episode count doesn't match the Blue Bricks though, guess it's the Madman discs repackaged. I hope MangaUK drop the 'digitally remastered' banner at the top since thi...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

In what way are the Madman sets better? I don't know anything about them. And why wouldn't these just be the blue bricks when so far we've had the orange and green bricks? The notion that they might be the Madman sets comes from the fact that Manga UK used Madman's footage for Z and GT, and Madman ...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

If these are the Madman discs in Blue Brick packaging, I will be picking them up. If they're just the Blue Bricks, well then I'll probably end up importing from Madman. However, with differences in terms of disc count and such, it seems fairly likely that they will use FUNimation's master. That is, ...

Re: What are the chances for a new series?

I don't see the point on remaking the series since we already have Kai. Maybe in the future, we could have a remake with better animation but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Yeah, I agree that if it were to happen, it wouldn't be for a while. I just felt like they missed a trick with Kai in ...

Re: What are the chances for a new series?

I'd basically like to see Kai done right. If they could reanimate Dragon Ball from scratch, from the very beginning to the end of the Buu arc, maybe even with a few alterations here and there in order to make the plot flow better and make things seem more planned out, i.e. perhaps Dr. Gero could be ...

Re: Start with Z or the Beginning

In this day and age there is literally no reason to not start at the beginning when it comes to Dragon Ball. Like many people have said, while you're at it, you may as well jump onto Naruto starting at Shippuden, or One Piece starting at the New World arc. The last thing we need is more people assum...

Re: Manga UK picks up Dragon Ball

Can someone tell me what the quality of the Madman release is like? The thing that puts me off about the blue bricks is that slight zooming-in, so if the Madman release doesn't have that, and these bricks somehow use the Madman masters then maybe I'll pick them up.
