Re: The Prejudice Against Digital Animation 2:The evolution.

It seems like with digital animation, there’s a lot of potential for laziness due to potential shortcuts involved. However, if it isn’t used as a crutch and as much love is put into it as necessary, it can look as good or better than traditional, in my view. A lot of what I saw in early Super animat...

Y-yeah, “minimodding” as we (used to? I’m old) call it has always gotten my goat. There’s moderators here for a reason... you’re not one of them. You’ve been here like a week. Chill out. That said, are there any actual updates on this situation? I see a lot of fake news and clickbait YouTube s...

Re: "Call Me Kakarot" Scene Explained! | Dragon Ball Super: Broly

"My name is Son Goku, and also... Kakarot" - That is the real line in the original japanese. No "Call me Kakarot" thing is there. Pretty much this. FUNimation still can’t help themselves by embellishing perfectly serviceable dialogue. Given that, there’s really nothing to read into it in the meta.

Re: Vic Mignogna

I despise the alt-right. Every single member of the alt-right should be permanently banned for good. They, and their ideology, should also be silenced as their Alex Jones crazy conspiracy theories about Elite Satanic secret societies and all of that nonsense is dangerous to today's global society. ...

Re: Has there ever been an English va that captured Masako Nozawak's performance as Son Goku?

In short? I don't think so, no. It isn't necessarily dub-hate, either... because I'm inclined to think no one in any language could touch her. It does make me nervous, once she is unable to continue voicing the character, who might take her place. I've more or less taken on board that the true, unad...

Re: "SDBH: World Mission" Official Discussion Thread

I've been playing for about an hour. So far, so good--better than I was expecting, if I'm being honest. I have a question which is probably dumb, simple, and I may have even missed it in the tutorials--what is the significance of where you place your character/card on the field? There's a lot of spa...

Re: Could a Xenoverse 3 in the works?

I hoped so but with new 2 features and a lite version just released I don't have hope anymore. If anything, that lends credence to the idea that a third game is in the works. Clearly the game is still profitable if they're continuing to support it nearly three years (had to check, but it's actually...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Does anyone know who will replace Mignogna as Broly's English voice? Whoever does it may have some serious shoes to fill IMO. I have to disagree vehemently . His speaking voice is a bit generic and the man can't scream. Compare his scream to Bin Shimada's and it's kind of pathetic; it sounds thin a...

Re: The whys about Japanese Adult Goku's Voice

If people can't tell the difference between child Goku and adult Goku then they've not actually listened to Nozawa's performance(s). Considering how many hardcore dub fans refer to Nozawa’s Adult Goku as Granny Goku despite the fact that Nozawa as Goku doesn’t sound the least bit like a grandmother...

Re: Bruce Faulconer returning to compose the score for DBS?

What's missing from your premise (aside from a number of question marks to denote that said statements are, indeed, questions) is the reason . There's always a series of negotiations and legal jargon behind everything, and when a perfectly serviceable soundtrack exists with zero licensing issues for...

Re: Ranking the sagas of Dragonball

There's too many arcs throughout the meta-series so I'll just give my top five: 1. Buu (was my introduction to the series and has so many great moments) 2. Cell 3. Goku Black 4. 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai 5. Saiyan Freeza arc doesn't make the cut due to length, anime-wise at least... and GT has been re...

Re: Dragon Ball more popular than Sonic and Mario

In the West at least, I'd say Mario has a generational advantage. Although Dragon Ball and Mario are around the same age, Dragon Ball didn't cement itself into Western culture until the past fifteen years or so. A lot of people in their 50's down have Mario in their consciousness, Dragon Ball is mor...

Let's say you use the word 'onomatopoeia', and then two posts later I state, "onematopoeia is a terrible word and people who use it are completely autistic sociopaths. Switching to decaf might work wonders. You just can't help yourself in throwing out needlessly snipey comments, can you? While we're at it, you come across as a wholesale pretentious know-it-all. Learn that. I wasn't talking to you, or even about your post specifically: I was talking about the term...

words (sorry, I’m on mobile) First of all, I’m not sure why you’re conflating removing emotionality from the situation with not having emotions at all. Of course I empathize and feel poorly for victims of assault. In fact, in my above post I expressed as such in saying that if I knew someone was vi...

Re: Lack of females characters in Dragon Ball

To be fair, the series dates back to 1984, where even in the West, things that would now be construed as blatant sexual assault and predatory behavior would be met with either disbelief of the victims or a "oh, you!" kind of response... and of course, Japan has different standards altogether. Not to...

Re: Should they stop making English version of the songs for the international audience?

There isn't much point in translating them to begin with. Usually the lyrics are nonsensical or just downright bad. Just listen to the Tournament of Power arc opening's English adaptation. Absolutely dreadful. Does it really hurt non-Japanese speakers' ears to hear the original untranslated version?

Re: Is Dragon Ball Your Favorite Anime Ever?

I'm actually not into anime at all. I mostly watch live action series such as Game of Thrones, Shameless, Ozark, Always Sunny, etc. Dragon Ball is the only animated series I watch aside from, I dunno, South Park on occasion. I don't even really see it as "anime" per se, it's just an amazing franchis...

Re: Vic Mignogna

It seems he’s still being invited to cons and speaking in front of.. puzzlingly dedicated fans. I just don’t understand the fandom (freaking out, crying, etc... really?) around someone who does dub work. To each their own, I suppose. Anyway, hopefully if he’s allowed to continue work in the industry...
