Re: Is Dragon Ball Z Funimation's Worst English Dub?

Drummond is more of the arrogant high-ranking warrior (never got the Saturday morning cartoon villain vibe). Sabat's Vegeta is a growth of that but with a bigger swelled head, almost like an amateurish shakespearean actor if you will. He did make big strides even in the orange brick re-dub but his ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Thought it was ok. Bardock is in line with ''toriyama bardock''. The one thing I did not like was Bardock not knowing how pregnancy works. Goku's like that because he's stunted from living alone (and up to a certain point, thats a tretch too)

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

I caved and bought these: I was reading the English manga and came across these: Now, I'm pretty sure that it's not "Turtle House" and Vegeta doesn't call Goku "Goku." So now they're just making obvious changes (unless I'm wrong... but I'll find out!). So, decided I want the original... just like m...

Re: Is Dragon Ball Z Funimation's Worst English Dub?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y47pPCPtVM (Yes, this is sourced from the 4 movie pack version with that horrible frame issue. Ugh!!!) Did they dub this using the mic found on webcams in the late 90s?! Wooow, I never saw this dub but man. Did this ever not get re-dubbed? This is more jarring than th...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release

I got the rental disc version if DB and Z for around 150 each they came with no cases but all arrived in great shape (minus a disc or two with light scratches but still play 100%) threw em in custom cases and was all set. Very pleased overall Thanks a lot for mentioning this! I managed to find a li...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release

I won't lie...I've been seriously considering pulling the trigger on these. I understand some Spanish, so I could probably reasonably follow the subtitles, and I'd like to own a version of Dragon Ball with all the OP/ED credits (as of now I own the Blue Bricks). I also really dig the packaging. But...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release

Here is a werid one for Dragon Ball (excuse the offsync these were screen recorded via VLC) Episode 31 appears to have a pan in the FUNi single and not the Dragon Box (presumably because of cropping) https://i.postimg.cc/sDGsj12b/ezgif-2-29eee53816d7.gif AND YET , the Funimation single shows more f...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release

I can't tell if these (and the Z set) are worth getting... On one hand, I own a lot of Dragon Ball (including the Dragon Box). On the other, I'm a crazy collector who seems to need everything. But I'm curbing my addiction for this because it's not really from Toei or Funimation, I guess. I think si...

Re: FUNimation and Dragon Boxes

Yeah, I don't think Funimation ever planned on re-releasing GT. It seems they just put out the green bricks so there could be a release on store shelves with their dub and both musical scores and call it a day. Selecta Vision will also probably release a perfectly fine GT Blu-Ray after they're done...

FUNimation and Dragon Boxes

I was looking at the scans of the FUNi's Dragon Box discs and noticed that the copywrite information mentions both Dragon Ball Z and GT as well (but not Dragon Ball for some reason). This is purly theoretical, but I wonder if they licened both Z and GT Dragon Boxes' (and movies) with a plan on relea...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release

I think they tried to clean it up as details are missing in some areas that are known to have that blur. Infact, it seems like that blur affects more than just the Dragon box [...] The Singles appears to be effetced too (it's just darker so it's masked better) You can see the outline from the frame...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release

It seems Selecta Vision didn't use the really awful motion blur DNR filter Toei used. Sadly, they used their own awful DNR filter. You really can't win, it seems. I think they tried to clean it up as details are missing in some areas that are known to have that blur. Infact, it seems like that blur...

Harmony Gold Dragon Ball DVD (Fanmade)

I made a DVD containing the Harmony Gold dub with the Dragon Box video quality. I don't plan on sharing this DVD, but it's on my first DVDs I've made from scratch (I've made covers and am slowly getting into DVD art and DVD building) and thought I share with you the general layout and such The menu ...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray

It's a scene with a lot of movement, so my guess is the DVD compression is whats causing those details to dissapear, and that on the uncompressed files they are there. The Dragon Box does look close to the the uncompressed files (atleast Z) but there still some level of compression

Made a case and disc art for those who use Dragon Radar to add subtitles to their bonus discs and wish to present them alongside the FUNi Dragon Box (as they were missing said discs) https://i.postimg.cc/N9h5RNXZ/DB-01.png https://i.postimg.cc/r0SzjSCs/DB-02.png https://i.postimg.cc/y3sxbkvP/DB-03.p...

Re: Comparison shots from every single DBZ release

It's been a while, but there's a new release on the horizon from Selecta Visión. Looking through the thread regarding the release brought up a series of 16 images that this Spanish source claims is uncompressed 1080p footage linking to the Selecta Visión website. The statement run through google tr...

Re: Selecta Visión Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray

I almost wonder if there is some AI guessing in this upscale? Looking at this rock, both on the Dragon Box and Level Set show this shading as fully colored where as the selecta vision Blu-ray shows it as lines? Since it's a Dragon Box upscale, as far as we know, I don't see how it could provide deta...
