Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"

I don't think anything's changed or that willingness to train is related to race. Saiyans have a love for fighting but not necessarily for training; the former is universal/almost universal, the latter is probably as individualized for Saiyans as it is for humans. A lot of Saiyans from the old days ...

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"

Art and politics go together like peanut butter and jelly. Anyone who has study art history (like myself) would know this. A lot of people only see on what is on the surface level and not anything else. Like these examples https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/419/592/211.png I don't thi...

Re: By Super, Bulma has become corrupt like any early series villain

she just gets rid of her wrinkles, and does so in a way that not even her friends will notice the DBs were used. Somehow she manages to have them available for whenever they need them. Does she make the same wish every year? That actually doesn't make much sense since if you wish for your youth to ...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

So I'm hearing now that he was sick for a year before he eventually died? Was that an unrelated illness? Or is it just not even true at all? Because hematomas to my knowledge are not really like a chronic illness. Hematomas aren't a chronic illness, in this case the hematoma was seemingly caused by...

His health was likely fine, the condition he died from is usually caused by injuries.

Re: Did Trunks' maternal grandparents (Bulma's parents) die in EOZ?

You're talking about a series where many of the characters who were once regulars like Oolong, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, etc only make fleeting and easily missable cameos (which I thought was a nice development from what the manga had done already, fazing everyone out to make the past feel more distant). ...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball would have worked better if Goku died on Namek?

I never get the appeal of Goku dying on Namek? I've never really found it that poignant or moving either. Julie's idea about Goku undergoing a permanent change after the first SSJ transformation is honestly a lot more interesting. As for the Buu arc, nah, best to revive him there as well. I like th...

I was neutral to Daima after the first trailer but I'm interested after this latest one. That's some damn good choreography, and I like the coloring and overall atmosphere.

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

That's interesting about the Asgard arc, I haven't ever seen any Saint Seiya (minus the first episode; I watched the first episode from various anime for every year 1961+ a few years ago to get a feel for the history of anime, the trends of each decade and the development of the medium. I did the sa...

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

Dragon Ball is a show that is just not working in a usual 26/52 episode seasons/year. It needs to go continously like Naruto/Boruto or One Piece, the lore, the "epicness" can't be contained into seasons.. There's only a little problem with that: DB Fans hate "filler" (or non-Tor...

Re: Why didn't GT have any insert songs (that aren't the opening)?

Insert songs had already become rare long before GT. Did the Buu Saga have any? They were pretty common up through and including the 22nd Budokai, then became much more infrequent. From Goku vs. Jackie Chun through Yamcha vs. Tenshinhan I don't think the series ever went more than 20 or so episodes ...

Re: Inclusivity towards women in Dragon Ball?

I think Karen is probably an overused term. It's an archetype that exists and there's obviously plenty of situations where the term is valid, but I've seen too many cases where internet people dogpile on a woman and excessively demonize her over relatively mild and forgivable cases of losing emotion...

Then I was wrong. He sounded extremely sick.
Yeah, he definitely sounded disturbingly weak by the time of Super. I'm not that good at judging Japanese acting sometimes but it was immediately evident even to me.

Re: One Piece Remake, fans are so lucky...

What the fuck does capitalism have to do with Dragon Ball? capitalism is why dragon ball super was greenlit only three months before it aired, and fucked over one of Toei Animation's best directors from the very beginning. hell, capitalism is why a producer (pretty sure it was Hayashida) blamed vet...

Voice actors that is something I don't complain. I don't have any problem with Nozawa and Horikawa. I hope their health stays great and can continue being voice actors. As for health declining in their 30s, I can safely say that isn't true at all. Yeah, I mean... I get that aging is highly variable...

Re: When will Nozawa and Horikawa be replaced?

Congratulations, you're in an oddly decent place. Not everyone is so lucky! A lot of people in their thirties do, in fact, have a noticeable change in their health and stamina compared to their twenties. A lot of people in their sixties and seventies do, in fact, have different voices—especially wh...

Re: When will Nozawa and Horikawa be replaced?

You know, people say they their performances are so compromised, as if they're so much harder to listen to than in the original run. And I find that to be greatly exaggerated. I'm not familiar with their performances specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if people exaggerate the severity of the...

They wont be replaced until they literally cant voice act anymore. Not until YOU decide you stopped liking their performances. I didnt want to be mean but these threads are constant and in poor taste. I agree. And why does Kanzenshuu bring up Horikawa so much? At least with Nozawa there's a legitim...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

An anime being 20 episodes is pretty much entirely unheard of. Almost all anime nowadays are either 12-13 episodes, or 24-26 (with the occasional show that's 10, usually in such small amounts per year that you could count them on one hand). It's probably 26.
