Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

I'm all here for the baseball mini-game. If it's half as fun as the one in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, then we are set my friends. Just got done watching another copy of the Vegeta free-roam gameplay, this time with English text (still undubbed just yet sounds like though), and ther...

Re: The Dragon Ball Novelization Project

Thanks Koitsukai! I hope the rest of it meets your expectations as well. Admittedly, the one part I'm dreading writing the most is the Dr. Slump crossover during the Red Ribbon Army arc. Arale in written form is going to prove...interesting. Agreed, as interesting as seeing Grandpa Gohan's final mom...

Re: The Dragon Ball Novelization Project

Prologue: The Death of Gohan Staring out at the moon shining brightly in the sky outside his bedroom window, the elderly man lamented at the thought that his beloved grandson might never be able to witness such a sight. He sighed, telling himself that letting his mind cloud over with such morose th...

The Dragon Ball Novelization Project

This is something that has, in a way, been a long time coming. At the same time though, it's something I kind of decided to do on the spur of the moment, which seems like a pretty Toriyama way of going about things (though I balk hard at even jokingly comparing myself to him, because yeah, no – I'm ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

So, now that we know we are getting the entirety of DBZ, and the release date being in 4 months, do you guys think we might even get more arcs? like BoG? RoF? they were titled DBZ, so it would fall under the Z category thus making it into the game. Do you think they might be saving some surprise fo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Actually getting to see more of the populated areas with Vegeta makes me all the more excited for this game. Holy crap, I'm going to have a ton of fun just flying and running around.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Huh, I think that's the first mention there's been of a season pass or additional music or anything. Hopefully those get detailed for the PS4 soon too.

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

It also confirms that the Bonyu training thing is just early access, it's something you can do in the game period. The sub-quest seems to be pre-order only though. There's also a collector's edition that looks kinda neat, but eh, I'm fine with the standard one. Do we know for sure yet if the January...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

I'm actually fine with the minimally designed cover, it's just that the art itself is kinda generic. As far as the pre-order stuff goes, glad I've already ordered so I'll get all of it, but huh. Is...an extra mode and a story in the middle of a game something that's usually included in pre-order DLC...

Re: Vic Mignogna

To clarify: it made it onto a local affiliate, not the network. Still big though. My apologies if that came off as misrepresenting that, I didn't realize. I've been unable to watch the video myself (it's like NBC doesn't wanna load for me), so I had to rely on the Twitter user that I found that fro...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Remember how the Dallas Morning News reporting on this was considered a pretty big step up in terms of coverage, considering that prior to that it was only being talked about on anime/video game/"nerd" sites? Well, it's officially hit the really big news spectrum now folks. Sharon Grigsby (who wrote...

Re: How was FUNimation able to afford all that licensed band music back in the day?

All of the songs are still there for the Double Features, but much like with the season set Funi seemed to be using an older audio edit for then because while Movie 8 is exactly the same, the mixing and placement is slightly different in the others. Especially movie 5, which is butchered. The timin...

Re: What parts of the franchise evoke nostalgia for you?

Somehow I wasn't even thinking of the music when I made my answer, gah. That's possibly because I have less answers for that one. Sure, I've listened to a ton of DB music, even counting the original Japanese score back when I was purely a dub following fan. Most of it though, no matter how good it i...

Re: How was FUNimation able to afford all that licensed band music back in the day?

Has anyone ever asked any of the bands exactly how their music ended up in the films, come to think of it? There's no guarantee that they'd remember I suppose, but there's always the possibility. Actually, if I remember right, aren't some of the songs no longer in the dub scores as of any re-release...

Re: How was FUNimation able to afford all that licensed band music back in the day?

The Digimon Movie had a licensed band music at the time too and that came out like a year or two before Funimation's dubs of DBZ Movie 4 and 5. That one I'd almost consider it's own case of using licensed music though, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the film is a combination of three different f...

Re: What parts of the franchise evoke nostalgia for you?

First off, I send you my condolences for your brother. :( Might not mean much coming from a random guy on the internet, but I know how hard it is to lose someone you love. To answer your question, there are a good couple of points in the franchise that I usually feel pretty nostalgic when I watch th...

Re: How was FUNimation able to afford all that licensed band music back in the day?

I actually enjoyed the use of the music, but for me it was mostly because that's what introduced me to that sort of music and as such I have nostalgia for it. I haven't watched the movies with that score in place in years, but I can still see the exact scenes in my head whenever I listen to Disturbe...

Re: Was there any backlash to the pedophilia (Mai & Trunks) plot point in DBS?

I remember it being pretty split online , but don't really think there was any real backlash. It does make me wonder how it would be received if GT Goku (as a child) was drawn to be given Chi-Chi a kiss or if that version of Goku found some little girl on a distant planet that he started hitting on...

Weren't these guys going on and on about how all of these accusations and evidence had to be substantiated in court before they would believe them? Now they have been, and they still don't believe them. SMH. I gave up on them really sticking to that one as soon as we had the picture of Vic "demonst...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I'm not going to lie - reading the ANN article and it's comments, the Dallas News article, this thread's new posts since this morning, and Twitter? It's all giving me life after a long day at work. I mean...someone said it already, but I have to agree. We knew Vic's lawyer was awful at what he was d...
