Re: How the Marketing of DBZ in the U.S Has Affected the Sho

I think overall, the show got successful on the back of the show itself. I think what Funi's treatment did probably help with was attracting people who wouldn't normally be attracted to a cartoon. As superficial as it may be, the dub and score just made it cone across as different kind of show, more...

The new footage looks pretty good compared to what we've seen before, mostly because the action looks a bit better. Hopefully the fights are choreographed well, and the CG doesn't look too low-budget.I'm far beyond the point of hoping for a faithful Live-Action Dragonball film, because I'm of the op...

The series is finally getting into Z territory, I'm interested in seeing Jeff's reactions to the huge shift in tone at this point in the series.

Eh, what can you do? They know business, it got them this far. I'm going to guess that they had lots of fans squealing and hollering at that. I'm not going to lie and say I never found the meme humorous, but this is the internet fad after all, so I don't think they will be able to get much more good...

I really didn't expect to like this, It was really exciting. The makers really seem like they are into it, and the video looks great. Its actually genuinely funny at times, and the voice acting is top notch.

I'll keep watching.

That was interesting. Since I don't understand a lick of Japanese, I'm just going to have to guess that Trunks is preventing Goku from creating a time paradox. That's kind of awesome and weird at the same time, since I don't remember Trunks ever worrying about paradoxes. In fact, I don't remember th...

I was checking my university's bookstore today, and they finally had some DB volumes in stock. I decided to pick up the last DBZ volume, but I felt a bit hesitant at first. I thought to myself, "I know the clerk, would it be wierd to come up to her with a DBZ manga?" After thinking about i...

"The Balls are Inert" Video still manages to make me chuckle quite a bit. His "Terry Yum Goon" video is pretty funny; I've never seen it. Yeah, "Terry Yum Goong" is his best, but that's just because I have a pretty hefty man crush on both Terry Bogard and Tony Ja...

Ah, those Toonami promos really bring back the memories, definitely the best action block ever. I was really sad when I heard CN was cutting it from the weekday afternoon time slot, I really think that Naruto and (especially) One Piece would have worked much better at that time. As far as "best...

I'll try to keep my head from exploding just long enough to make this post.

Easily the best news of the year, finally we are getting some new Dragonball content that isn't a video game. I'm so excited.

Gintaman! (Dragonball OP parody)

In the 100th episode of the anime Gintama, they featured this fake Shonen anime called Gintaman and the opening for it had...interesting references to Dragonball. The DB stuff kicks in about halfway through the thing, but the whole video is just this huge over-the-top Shonen parody. Just a weird thi...

"They should've had a woman who could keep up except the one that did." http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k85/Rocketdude1987/Emotes/emot-psyduck.gif Yeah, my wording was terrible. I was trying to comment on how in this huge epic series, there was only really one female who wasn't useless ...

There would either be more pandering to the fans' desire to see Goku be the winner of every fight, or they would have followed the "Gohan is the new hero" path and make him the hero for the end of the series.

That was awesome, sometimes I need to read something like that about something I really like, mostly to keep my grounded. I was thinking about the "Boys > Girls" point before I read part II, it definitely would have been interesting to see a female hero/villian that can seriously keep up w...

Its from Ultimate Battle 22, right? According to Kanzentai's Japanese commercials page , it's from the commercial for Shin Budou-den for the Saturn (you have to scroll about 2/3rds of the way down the page to find it). Cool, I knew it was some PS1/Saturn era game, but for some reason UB 22 just pop...

That looks very nice. While I'm not big on collectible card games, I may get one pack just for the fun of it. It definitely would remind me of the years I spent obsessing over Pokemon cards.

It probably would have been early last year for me. I got back into the series hard last summer. Since then I've been putting songs and podcasts into my mp3 player, those would probably cause me to have some Dragonball thoughts.
