Re: Did you know the original English Gohan was in a Friday the 13th movie?

I'll agree with Jason Takes Manhattan being wthe weakest entry. Love the song at the end though. I've known about this for a while, it's pretty cool. Someone recently pointed out to me that Ted Cole (Yamcha in the Ocean dub) was a background character in Scary Movie . Wow! That's even more mindblowi...

Did you know the original English Gohan was in a Friday the 13th movie?

So I just rewatched the 8th Friday the 13th, Jason Takes Manhattan, and it competely slipped me that Gohan is in the film! https://64.media.tumblr.com/34b8dbb730b04815a9e4f5bcb23e8ccf/tumblr_pomuvhPPkk1x5540co1_540.gif Saffron Henderson, who was an Ocean voice actor for Gohan, loses to a guitar in t...

Re: Is anyone annoyed that the revival happened?

It's more the fandom that tries to use Super to pretend GT no longer matters or exists, rather than the franchise creators. Toei et al clearly have no qualms about acknowledging GT or making use of its elements... just look how prominent of a role Super Saiyan 4 still has in Heroes, even being give...

Re: Did Dragon Ball air in the UK in the 90s?

I hate to be that guy, but it was actually 6th March 2000 . Don't recall anything before that though. I think some Urusei Yatsura episodes might have aired on BBC. Digimon was on ITV yeah and Fox Kids, as well as Pokemon on Sky One. However I don't recall Dragon Ball Z on anything other than Cartoon...

Re: Parts of Dragon Ball that you avoid showing to children as a parent or caretaker

If I had children I would avoid showing them anything Dragon Ball related. If they want to watch it in their spare time that is on them, but I'm not going to go out of my way to make them watch 500 episodes of a TV Show. Would rather have them do something that would benefit them like learning how t...

2008. That's when we got the OVA, Kai, Evolution, even Raging Blast 2 with the remake of a previous film, so on.

Sort of unrelated, but do you think that Nam and Uub are both from the same region/have the same nationality?
Seems like it.

Uub seems like Nam, Gohan and Piccolo thrown into a blender.

Super Buu is creepy as fuck. He reminds me of a slasher movie villain.

Re: At its core, why is Dragon Ball so loved?

It's so easy "Just don't engage" but when it's thrown in your face at every opportunity how's a dude not gonna comment at some point even if it's just a simple as "Sir this is a Wendy's." As they say, read the room. This reminds me of when I went to an Irish pub in Las Vegas: Couple sits down Barma...

Re: When DBZ aired in the UK

It replaced DBZ after the Cell Saga I think. Not after CNX. Remember being so mad. Got into a fight with a kid at school over it.

Quite funny talking about the broadcast history of a show can make someone feel so nostalgic...

Anyone remember Cubix? That showed replaced DBZ for a while and I hated it for that reason alone.

Re: Dragon Ball Z’s popularity in the West

I really think those changes are superficial in the grand scheme of things - what drew a lot of fans in wasn't necessarily the more Westernized themes, but how different it was from anything else that was airing in that demographic and the level of violence. I know at least that's what stood out to...

Didn't realise you got around to reading the sreies. Did you check out any of the TV shows? https://twitter.com/cipher_db/status/1277193814264786944?s=21 Might be some other errant threads and updates under that hashtag as well. A couple on the colorized volumes, in particular. Reactions to spot-ch...
