Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Fucking hell, man. My father passed away a little over a month ago and this almost hit me just as hard. Rest In Peace, your work changed more lives than you can count My Dad died a year ago and he was a huge fan of Dragon Ball too. He was in his 80s but he loved it as much as me and watching the se...

What the hell? This must have been a sudden thing. RIP Toriyama. Really didn't expect to lose the main man himself so soon. :(

Are we really gonna keep up the "cast is so old" threads?

Re: Are you done with Dragon Ball?

I still love and watch Dragon Ball. One day I will read the whole manga. It's just I don't spend much time here lately because a lot of things have happened in life and I've been busy elsewhere, but I did spend a bit of money on the crummy Walmart Blu-rays of Z so I could watch the dub in a better w...

I am beyond tired of all of this AI stuff. Not to mention the implications in terms of art. I'm not one who's excited for these things really taking off in the future.

Re: Funimation's 30th anniversary collectible home video release

This is a pretty big misconception that people have. Raditz's actually is supposed to have blue hair the majority amount of time(when they're highlights on his hair). We can see this in the cels https://i.imgur.com/m2YKGAa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TMLesTD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/p2JybSN.jpg https://...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/31/22!)

JSYK, Lance, I believe it was in press briefings that said GT takes place 10 years after the end of Z. I've watched the whole dub & I don't remember them stating it anywhere in the dub either. I just watched the entire dub with a friend and I definitely know it never said anything about 10 year...

Yes. that's where Paikuhan swearing up a storm in movie 12 and Vegeta saying "fuck you, you destroyed my house!" in movie 13 came from.

Re: Where did the "GT takes place 10 years later" myth start?

Pan is noticeably taller than Goku who I assume was wished back to his 11 year old body, with her being probably as tall as Goku was at 15. Saiyans apparently age slowly and get a huge growth spurt nearing adulthood so I can see people assuming the same with Pan and Bra. https://i.imgur.com/MFzefoY....

Rager, even compared to the Japanese recasts is still the closest to capturing that deep, burly gutteral Mr. Satan voice that Gouri had in my opinion.

Re: Do you like Dragon Ball GT?

Also, they don't have film masters for the original Dragon Ball or GT, so they probably wouldn't do a Blu-ray release right now anyway (well, they could do an SD Blu-ray, but I don't think they would).

Re: Rurouni Kenshin case - Would you stop supporting DB?

I would hate Toriyama and I'd never support the official releases any more (and with figures I'd go exclusively Demoniacal Fit or stuff instead of Figuarts because I'm sure Toriyama gets some amount of money from merch), but life is so short and problems numerous that I couldn't just give up one of ...

Re: Thoughts on the DBS Super Hero Soundtrack?

Very unremarkable. I don't remember a single track from the soundtrack and I've seen the film twice. Same. It sounds extremely generic Hollywood superhero-esque, which I guess fits with the theme of the movie, but is the weakest Dragon Ball score so far in my opinion. I really want Sumitomo to retu...

Re: so uhh Sony threw away funimations dragon ball film

This isn't anything to do with Sony or CrunchyRoll. These prints were discarded in 2008/2009, shortly after Funimation produced their remasters for the double feature Blu-rays. This particular reel came from Allied Vaughn who are company that provide reel scanning . It's likely Funimation used thei...

So, am I to hope they have everything scanned at a higher resolution for future remasters, or is this basically proof that the new Crunchyroll will basically never put out a decent release of Dragon Ball Z?

Re: Super Hero is proof it's time for a live-action DB movie franchise

The visual style of Dragon Ball is one of the things I love most about it.

Don't care to see it join this trend of remaking all popular animation into live action. But I mean of course I wouldn't have to watch it, so it ultimately wouldn't affect me I suppose.

Re: Chris Sabat on King Kai's English and Japanese voice

Between Sabat and Schemmel, the latter always seemed to have more reverence and respect for the Japanese side of Dragon Ball. He admits he does things his own way, but he always showed them the utmost respect and was super excited to meet Nozawa. I won't ever forget that con where he was with the Ja...

I wish he had trained AND went to school. Reaching his full potential, while balancing saving the world with school and eventually work/his fatherly duties. Like Spider-man and other heroes. Yeah, I always felt it would be very interesting for Gohan to have a character arc like Parker did in Raimi'...

Re: "Zenkai" - 全開 or 全快? (Also, questions on origins of the term in Western fandom)

Zenkai as a term in the fandom was never a thing I latched onto. I always thought "near death power-up" or VegettoEX's example to describe it sounded so much cooler. Not everything needs to have a proper noun or title. I'm not complaining or saying they shouldn't, but I have always noticed...
