Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]

I’ve actually recently started work on my own edit of the series using the SoM CC. Not all of my cuts are quite as smooth as Milkman’s, I’ve been a little more ambitious about cutting more filler though. All of my episodes are shorter than the equivalent Milkman ones so far. Just finished editing G...

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]

Does anyone have a list of the dub fixes in DB Recut? I'm really interested in looking them up but I don't want to compare to the OG scene by scene I found a few by looking for what I thought were some of the most problematic dubisms. Goku and Chichi's childhood conversation about marriage is now a...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Recut (Japanese version) Finished

I just watched the first episode and am impressed so far. Maybe it's the Level sets footage, the Kikuchi score, the slower pace within scenes, or all of the above, but it feels higher quality than Kai. It seemed like the audio cut weirdly before the eye-catch and the cut to credits, like it was a sp...

Re: [Project Shelved] Dragon Ball Z Kai: Kikuchi Restored [An Ultimate International Edition Project] [Open Source]

Sorry you're unable to work on this anymore, I was very impressed with the episodes you completed and it would have been wonderful to see you go on, but it's understandable as it's such a huge project. A recut version of DBZ with the original score - and the Kai dub no less - is something that does ...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I just got done watching the finale commentary. Your show means so much to me, as much as Dragon Ball itself which has been a huge part of my life. I watched the first episodes of DBZA in secondary school, laughing at the dumb jokes with my friends. I watched the last episodes with my wife, crying a...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)

This looks great! Dragon Ball is best for me when it's silly, fun and full of adventure, and this looks like a really high-effort project. The thing is, I get the impression Toriyama is being an absolute troll here. Everyone's wondering, "is this after Super, after Eoz, does it fit somewhere wi...

Re: Dragon Ball Recut [COMPLETE], Dragon Ball Kai Recut [COMPLETE]

That's incredible that that's there, I didn't know because I haven't seen DB Recut since V1. There are a few dub lines in recut that don't work with the context removed, one that's stuck in my mind all this time is when Roshi tells the story of Mutaito sealing away Piccolo and Oolong says "wher...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I very much enjoyed the first set of Buu Bits, I could totally see the scenes and characters playing out more or less that way. The way they discussed the Super Hero antics, Vegeta's motivation, the bit of seriousness and menace from Buu himself... Very well done.

Great Saiyaman the Movie would be brilliant. They could work magic with that and not necessarily commit to the whole thing.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I mean, Dragon Ball as written by Toriyama isn't perfect. In fact, far from it. Yeah, some of the things that feel most like "brand damage" to me, in terms of wanting to rewatch the series or introduce others to it, are Toriyama's work. The hentai-scenario sex gags in the early parts of t...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I actually think DBZA was fantastic for Dragon Ball and fed into its continued popularity quite a lot. Yeah, some people have bad opinions because they took it too seriously, but that's not damage. A lot of people came back into the franchise - or into it in the first place - because of TFS. DBZA de...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Kikuchi Restored [An Ultimate International Edition Project] [Open Source]

Right yeah exactly, I think it works for that reason. I understand that in the audio tracks of Kai, aspects of some sounds like echo and reverb are on the music tracks, and are lost when removing the score. Are you using a version that adds those back in as the base? I know people have done such wor...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Kikuchi Restored [An Ultimate International Edition Project] [Open Source]

A proper Kikuchi restore of Kai is something that's really needed, I wish you luck with this. If the cutting of the filler leads to tracks being much more repetitive than in Z in an unnatural way (eg they were more spaced out by filler and nobody would have originally placed them that close together...

Re: With DragonBall getting more and more global, it's time to include more lgbtqia+ characters

I think that if Tien showed up one day at a party or something with a boyfriend that'd be alright, but an entire episode or arc dedicated towards exploring Tien's sexuality wouldn't make sense in Dragon Ball. Tien: Hey guys, this is my husband, X. Goku: Wow Tien, so you're a wife now? Yamcha: *burs...

Damn, these were an amazing release that I was really looking forward to buying in its entirety. The size and quality of the pages makes the art look amazing. It's also the only release of the manga that my partner is actually able to read, due to the size.

Was Kaioshin's role as a creator a retcon?

In Dragon Ball I always got the impression that the Kaio and Kaioshin were something like overseers/rulers of the universe who sometimes step in as divine protectors in the right circumstance. Super seemed to reshape them as gods who create stars, planets and life, reflecting gods of destruction. Wa...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

At this point, I'm probably never going to buy a Dragon Ball home release again unless it's a 4:3, high quality HD release without colour issues. And honestly, that sounds like such a demanding nitpicky list of requirements but it should be the default. That is the basic starting point for a bog sta...

Re: Did Gowasu and Zamasu should replace Shin and Kibito in the Buu Arc?

I actually think Gowasu should have been the Kaioshin of Universe 6, with him and Zamasu present at the Tournament of Destroyers. Goku ticks Zamasu off early on before the tournament even starts by challenging him to a fight after he's introduced as a prodigy, then the mortals continue to shock him ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - Announcement & Discussion Thread

Given how Super got off to such a bad start, suffering poor reviews which marred its reputation for long afterwards, largely due to half a year of retreading old material, I'd very much like to avoid the same mistake being made again, especially since Broly had such spectacular animation that the se...
