Re: Is original Dragon Ball really that unpopular?

I got into Dragonball because of that airing of the first story arc back around 1995 or so. What cursed it in the USA was the terrible time slot. It came on at 2pm and ran for part of a year in my area. I did not even know about it because schools did not let out until 3:15 back then. I was home sic...

Re: Could a Roshi movie/special work or be fresh?

I have given this some thought. I agree with the others that Roshi alone wouldn’t be enough to carry it. However, think about the most recent movie DBS: Brody. They started with a bunch of flashback scenes and showed how the past tied to the present. They could do something similar with a new movie ...

Re: Why do some have a dislike of the climax of the Zamasu/Black arc?

I did not enjoy the arc very much. The story had some neat ideas, but dropped the ball on the execution, in my opinion. I believe the manga presented the more concise and superior version of the arc in this case though. Aside from individual nit-picks about things that were worse in the animated ver...

Re: Is THIS a good reason to "skip" DB? (German, watching with partner, dub concerns)

My wife was curious about all this Dragonball stuff I had back when we were dating. She wanted to watch it, so we did. I told her it was at least a 25 episode commitment to give it a fair shake. The reason being because the first story arc, while it contains character introductions, and some key lon...

Re: Was Piccolo technically still the Guardian of the Earth, after he fused/reunited with Kami, but before Dende became

You can also look at it another way too. There were questions in the past why Goku was the one to choose Kami's successor. The answer is simple, it was his duty to do so. Way back at the end of the 23rd Budokai, Kami chose Goku as his successor. Goku flew off with Chi-chi to get married and blew off...

Re: What happened to the third Dragon Radar? And is there a fourth??

Ah, okay, that makes sense on the Cell Arc hunt, because Bulma had flown her air car up there to deliver the Saiyan Battle armor to everyone. Explains how the Radar from Freeza arc was used. So, the one Goku had might still be at his house then.

Re: What happened to the third Dragon Radar? And is there a fourth??

This is a very interesting topic, because it brings up a neat discussion that I had never really through of before. It has been a few years since I watched Dragonball last, but I always assumed the Radar Goku had was his and he still had it. Although, maybe he didn't leave it with Yajerobi, Korin or...

Re: Is base Goku always with Ōzaru power after UDivineWater?

Karin said that everyone else who had drank the water died from it. Yajerobi tried just a drop and it almost killed him. Goku writhed in agony and it very nearly killed him. What transpired, even though it wasn't known yet at that point in the story, is that Goku had a near death experience, and the...

Re: Nappa & Vegeta final attacks power boost?

I don't think it was ever stated that they couldn't increase their power, was it? Because I have long thought the same thing, that their ki attacks carried an extra punch that lined up with Goku. Even if Goku didn't have time to charge the Kamehameha, he'd already gotten mad and powered up to "...

Re: What happened to the New Planet Vegeta(GT)?

It is one of those things that just never gets explained. Next episode Trunks gets beat up by #17, and the next arc starts, with no mention of the new planet ever being brought up again for the rest of the series, if I recall correctly. I did re-watch GT a few years back before Super came along. The...

Re: How DBZ on Cartoon Network worked? Please help explain

I don't know if it pertains to the original questions directly, but I skimmed through the topic and figured I would share a few things I remember from when cartoon network very first started airing Dragonball Z. In 1999, I was a senior in high school, and had a job flipping burgers for a local fast ...

No chance of those Selectavision releases having english subs is there? I wouldn't think they would, but if they did, they might be worth a consideration if their quality turns out nice.

Re: Did Dragon Ball sleep on utilizing an angry Goku?

The Tambourine and Piccolo stuff was where he went off in a fit of rage, without preparing properly first. He learned his lesson, and any time after that, he rages momentarily, but realized that keeping his head meant a better chance at devising the winning strategy. There are times when he gets sup...

Hrmm, my top ten favorites huh? Okay, let's see here.. 1. DBZ Movie 1 The Dead Zone (Second Dragonball Movie I ever saw, and still my favorite as it carries over a lot of End of DB era stuff.) 2. DB Movie 2 Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle (First DB movie I saw, and I love it for being unique and...

I'm necroposting my own topic back from the grave. How is the release structure looking in your part of the world everyone? Has anyone had any of t...

Re: Best looking Dragon Ball movie: The Path to Power or Super Broly?

Is this just a direct comparison between these two films, or are any of them open to interpretation? Broly has some nice art direction going for it that I really liked in a lot of scenes, however, the last ten minutes of the film looked like they were trying to set a record for fastest animation in ...

I remember that game fondly, it had a rather steep learning curve, but was a very rewarding experience once you got a handle on what was going on. I spent many hours leveling up my guys and unlocking all of their attacks. The thing I remember most frustrating early on was learning to be lightning qu...

Re: (Dragon Box) Vegeta got stronger after reviving?

I gave this some thought, and I have a theory I'd like to share. The Zenkai boosts did indeed seem to fade from the scene once a saiyan reached the threshold of power for Super Saiyan to be a possibility. It may be possible that a new variant replaces it at such a point that we do see throughout the...

Re: If Saiyan tails were kept, would the narrative have been more cohesive?

Goku no longer had the tail weakness, he specifically trained it after his grandfather pointed it out to him at Baba's arena. When he and Krillin fought at the 22nd World Tournament, Krillin tried to grab Goku's tail, to no avail, as it was no longer his weak point. He'd spent three years training i...
