How do you pronounce "wuxia"?

I think its pronounced Woo-Shia. But I'm probably wrong.
Nope you're indeed correct: it's pronounced Woo-Shyah. X's in Romanized Chinese words are usually pronounced roughly similarly to how English pronounces "Sh".

Re: Vic Mignogna

I should also add the important point that hardly anywhere near close to ALL or even MOST college campus activists in any way fit the description that "SJW" is meant to apply to. There are an absolutely VAST number of college campus activists, the sizable majority of them overall I would say, who ar...

Re: Vic Mignogna

While although I appreciate the effort applied to your post, all this term does is undermine left views. It has no business being used in any form and further usage and normalizing of the term strengthens the term to be used by the right and alt-right and make our pleas for social justice seem fool...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Side-bar thought: Is it hypocritical of us to condemn Vic whilst still liking a product that is known for its abject and often outright disgusting treatment of sexual harassment? I'd hardly say that Dragon Ball is in any way mainly or primarily known for its horrible treatment of sexual harassment....

Re: Vic Mignogna

If only fandoms had their own de-radicalization programs... Not a joke: that's probably not terribly far from something that might just actually/potentially need to come to fruition, to one extent or another, at some point down the road when all's said and done. The 2010s have seen geek culture get...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I mean, you are being a bit of an asshole about it, because I'm definitely aware of the "culture war" in the other aspects. After Charlottesville and especially Christchurch, it's naive to even think that memes are just memes and nobody could get hurt from it. In my mind, I was waiting to see when ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I've been lurking this thread like probably many others, and I wanted to say something honestly - the situation is actually kind of scaring me with how much people have been whipped into a frenzy. While I've seen some examples that some of the twitter trolls aren't even fans of Dragon Ball at all, ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

It would be helpful for people to actually just get to the core of the issue instead of creating all these side distractions. Here's the core of the issue itself then (for the umpteenth fucking time): 1) Vic has a long, long list of women accusing him of sexual misconduct. This list extends back to...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I think there's a big problem in terms of how we discuss these things due to the overwhelming general misunderstanding of labels. A LARGE chunk of that comes down to so many average people being not just policy-illiterate (since mainstream political news has largely been policy-averse since at leas...

Re: Vic Mignogna

There is a difference in principle. Among the actual Democrat-voting demographic and who they choose to support or what they choose to spin? That line is fuzzy. Whether it be a cataclysmic knee-jerking from Donald Trump being elected or the regrettably obvious bias in that some people are mad they ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Nobody likes the woman that won the popular vote? There's a big difference between genuinely liking someone and disliking someone slightly less than another disliked person. That difference meant EVERYTHING in terms of Clinton vs Trump: Clinton got the popular vote, but not in the key states where ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I'm just going to be honest. As long as "SJW" is allowed to be used freely here unironically then this place is not a place I can really feel comfortable with. I mean... I dunno what to tell you. There DOES in fact exist a subset of people in the political landscape who DO actual "boy who cried wol...

Re: Vic Mignogna

I think some people use the term "social justice warrior" (or "SJW") as a pejorative because it has, for many, come to mean, "somebody who is royally pissed off at the slightest thing that is politically incorrect and acts like they're incredibly emotionally invested in a cause that doesn't directl...

Great job! Kinda weird how Quitela and Gin have the same logo.
What about baseball logos?
Crap, I didn't even think of the baseball teams! Good call! Will try to include those as well in the next forthcoming iteration of this list.

Re: Vic Mignogna

The bubble is absolutely a big thing at the centre of a lot of all this. I grew up in a white middle class family myself where I was heavily sheltered and generally prevented from seeing the world as it really is. When I was very young, I saw the world as very black and white, right and wrong sort ...

Look out everyone, that Wuxia thread is goin' down! Edited down my above post. I'm still gonna make that thread at some point for sure, but I don't want to derail the topic here with me babbling on too much about my own stupid bullshit. This topic is and should be focused squarely on the issue of M...

Re: Vic Mignogna

Actually, I didn't even know that "uppity" had racist connotations to it!, even having graduated from a $36,845 per year university! After having taken "Cross Cultural Issues in Psychology", too  ! Well...it was a mostly white university, yeah. To be fair, though, the teacher teaching "Cross...

Re: Vic Mignogna

In fairness, I had no idea "uppity" was racist either. I guess I'll remember to not use that one. As someone with Autism, it's also possible (albeit slim) that he didn't even know it was racist terminology. I certainly didn't until you guys made it pretty clear they were. Its a beyond sad and pathe...
