On the subject of 'in jokes', while re-watching some episodes I noticed that Red and Black were making the Great Sayiaman movie. Not seeing the original DB until this year, I had never noticed that before.

In fairness, my main question was about Vegeta. I was just curious if there was a reason there were insider references despite being pretty sure there wasn't.

I believe on the Uncut Dub where Ghoan first goes to High School, he refers to Mr. Satan as "Hercule Satan" a few times. That's just dub canon though, and the idea of "Mr. Satan" just being a wrestling gimmick is an interesting question.
