Re: Ever taken a break from Dragon Ball?

I've taken a break by not posting on this forum, but now I'm back! Aside from watching the Dragon Boxes, My breaks with the series have been at about 2-3 month intervals. The video games I've lost complete interest in since the first Raging Blast and Attack of the Saiyans. I still semi-interested in...

Re: Who Hates Dragon Ball?

Part of the reason I like Dragon Ball more than the latter half (I refuse to use anime terminology because it's just a continuation and separating the two bring about mundane responses and arguments such as on this subject) is because of the overall story and sense of adventure before it became it a...

Re: Dragon Box 3 discussion

Got my Dragon Box on Wednesday. Noticed one of the slide covers was slightly dent on one side so the Goku image looks a little off. It's a minor thing, so no heavy damage. I watched everything up until Disc 14. I remembered one of the lines Freeza delivered after nearly being killed by the Genki Dam...

Re: Dragon Ball vs. Naruto?

I remember when a similar topic like this came up and I believe it was DesireCampbell that said One Piece is more similar to the first part of Dragon Ball and Naruto is more like the latter half. I tend to like Son Goku's adventures as a kid, so I opt more for One Piece. In the end, I love them all ...

Re: Taking a suspicious amount of time for Burst Limit 2, huh?

I'd love to see Dimps develop another Dragon Ball game. Just not necessarily a fighting game, but with the recent experience they've had with the Street Fighter games, it could be a good thing.

Re: Did Toriyama really supervise Dragon Ball Kai?

It's been proven that Toriyama has extensive involvement with the DBO project via character designs under the "Bird Studio" moniker. The developers at NTL went over story concepts (and even character licenses) with the approval of Shueisha and Toriyama himself. I don't see why it's being a...

Re: Which will you get Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 1 or Dragon Box 3?

Dragon Box 3. I don't have a Blu Ray player yet, so I'd rather wait to get the full HD experience with Kai. The Dragon Boxes take the utmost priority. I'll probably wait for the "complete season sets" and a cheaper price for Kai as someone mentioned.

Re: VIZ + FUNimation + Conference Call = "Exciting Things"

Ah, I remember this. They might be working together to release Ossu! Son Gokû and Friends Return , as Viz is owned by Shueisha. Bah, screw that. Give me One Piece: Strong World and Volume #0 combo pack! How about both. I'd like to see them try get the DB OVA released and some One Piece stuffage. Wi...

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion

It seems Carl and Thoren just sort of represent the average anime fanbase that has no knowledge of the shoddy and rocky DVD releases for DBZ or even the history of the fanbase. And even if they did, they'd probably go with the majority consensus. When I saw penguintruth's review on Dragon Box 1, I w...

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?

I guess that's where the line of opinion is drawn out. We do know for a fact that FUNimation has taken liberties with their dubs, thus hence it's called a "reversioning" and not an "adaptation". Whether or not they had to go that route for the show to become popular is definitely...

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?

I think the fact that FUNimation said those comments on the Season Set just reaffirmed my dislike for them with the Dragon Ball community as a whole. From a personal experience at NY Comic Con, when I went to the FUNimation panel, the panelist sort of had this persuading notion that the DBZ dub wasn...

Re: Dragon Ball Online OST

I love how the OST for this game sounds parts Dragon Quest and parts Zelda. I think the music fits well for a sense of adventure and awe-inspiring locales, as this game seems to have it. I don't particularly think it fits well for a Dragon Ball animated material, but within the realm of an MMO, it's...

Re: Dragon Ball Manga: Viz Standard VS Viz BIG?

I have all of the Viz Tankoubons with the "Black Cat" logo, so most of the stuff is uncensored prior the Cell arc material. I've had a hand with the Viz Bigs, and for what they're worth, it's a nice product. The quantity of the material it covers, the high quality prints, and the price you...

Did Toriyama really supervise Dragon Ball Kai?

After seeing the press release brought up this site, I have to wonder exactly how much supervision and creative control Toriyama had with Kai? Because everything before, has lead me to believe that Toriyama had nothing to do with project at all aside from having his name slapped on it after its init...

Re: Parts of Street Fighter inspired by Dragon Ball?

As Bussani pointed out, Fist of the North Star is also one of those titles that popularized the usage of ki and martial arts in manga predating Dragon Ball. That was a huge Jump title as well.

Looking at the video Heath mentioned in the podcast. Didn't know of its existence up until now. I'm kind of surprised of Psychic Lover's appearance who I mostly know through the Witchblade opening. It's pretty surreal.

Re: Wow, the Japanese soundtrack is horrible!

That's a pretty bold claim considering Kikuchi's got more under his belt than just Dragon Ball when it comes to animated products, but I don't personally know either person to make such claims (nor do I know what Falcouner is up to now). When it comes to Dragon Ball as a whole, I just prefer Kikuchi...

Re: DB or DBZ: Which is better?

My thoughts exactly. I love most of the pre-Z era stuff, but the Cell arc is my favorite. Freeza getting cut in half in an episode by some random stranger, the twist and turns in that arc, and most importantly, Gohan's character development. It's also when the series pretty much reached the height o...

Re: Wow, the Japanese soundtrack is horrible!

I think it's obvious that a newer generation of fans or fans that like the Falcouner score will like the Kai score more. It takes after Kikuchi's orchestral route without all the jazz and other instruments of that age period of anime (70s-80s). It's more modernized to say the least. But as penguintr...
