Is an OVA even possible at this point? Hasn't Toriyama-san stated that he was going to do one more anime and than call it quits? Toriyama had little to do with the anime(other than designs), so his level of involment wouldn't make much of a difference, if that what you were thinking. Anyway, like t...

As for the "OVA".... what was the big deal anyway? It was just animated cutscenes for a video game that's it! I would say that the "big deal" is a desire to be as complete as possible. Granted, no one is saying it's a masterpiece or anything, but it might be nice to see it avali...

Forgive me if this makes me sound stupid, but what are the problems with Disney's TV-show DVDs? Nothing, Disney releases are generally of the highest quality. I think he's just saying that even the crappiest Disney shows get quality releases, while a piece of classic Japanese animation gets shit on...

Congratulations, FUNimation considers you a 9 year old :P -Corey FUNimation can think whatever the hell they want, I want episodes, so I'm gonna buy'em, I'm kinda sick of how people are STILL bitching about these DVD's. But still, don't you think it kinda sound like you don't care about quality? Ev...

Looks like it's the widescreen "remastered" bullshit with only the Spanish track and English subs. Apparently it's gotten released in Mexico this past month, as well. This just isn't looking good... I must thank Funimation once again for giving me a very good reason not to buy their produ...

As for your comments about being ripped off as DBZ fans, I think for many, many people its just a "we give up" thing. There was a time when many of us were quite ready to rip FUNimation a new one (myself included) but for many of us, its been over 10 years of being upset at north american...

But in all honesty, the show frames up nicely in widescreen. I wonder if all those that says this(not singling out 707 in particular) would also say the same thing about "widescreen movies frames up nicely in pan-and-scan". After all, it's the exact same arguement. (and didn't the whole p...

DBZ is a horrible anime, weak inconsistant animation, long pauses where nothing happens, not even animation. Tell me about it! I hate it when the animators get lazy and just put in random live-action sequences. Remeber the episode where Vegeta and Nappa first arrive on Earth? Pathetic... <snip imag...

It doesn't matter about the cropping, all they are doing is trying to make it look more modern and more appealing in widescreen, The series is 20+ years old, how can it "look more modern"? The only way that could happen would be to make a brand new series altogether. And really, the whole...

Am I satisfied? Eh, pretty much. The series been done and over with for a long time, and I been around fandoms long enough to mellow out on things. I've got no real hang up on how it ended. Though as pointed out, that revised manga ending is better than the original version. It gives more of a feeli...

In the end though, you cant blame 'em for being cheap fucks. Everyone will buy Dragonball Z. And the less money they spend, the more money it will make them. That "Everyone will buy Dragonball Z" anyway just makes the widescreen issue even worse. If we were talking about an obscure show t...

I had my share of thoughts on the issue. On one level, I do like seeing honorifics in translations, and in some contexts, it's important to leave them in(like if how a character is addressed is part of a scene or the story). On the other hand, it does get overdone sometime(like on fanfiction and mes...

I suppose it's the same reason why he never used the Kinto'un (typo?).

Eh? Goku used it in the early parts of Z, and once later on in the Freeza saga to go to Dr. Briefs house to pick up the spaceship. And later, Gohan used it to go to school.

Hah, anyway - you know, since my last post above, - I've been thinking about this. With all the evidence we've looked at and what they've told us - I am now beginning to wonder if what has happened here is that Funi actually just sort of "honestly" and legitimately made a mistake during t...

sorry I didnt mean to be a troll. I just think that they wouldnt put in widescreen just to make us mad, they are trying thier best to give us a quality product and for 50$ we should give them some slack. They aren't trying to "give" us anything(otherwise, why put a price point on it?). Sa...

I, personally will be cancelling my pre-order for this boxset unless this widescreen issue is resolved by the February release date. Anyone hoping to see this problem 'fixed' by February is hoping in vain. At this point, production of the discs are likely complete, or at least in mid-production. An...

I think I figured out the widescreen problem. Ok, so the Japanese raw footage has some more of the image then FUNimation showed. All FUNi has to do is put black lines over what they didnt show us before and poof, widescreen! It also shows more of the image this way on the right and lefts sides. So ...
