Re: Could foreign dub casts be a thing of the past?
I said I believe they’re likely AI. (But in fairness, the Ryo one is significantly better than the other) But it’s still an assumption with no known information on where these audio files came from and who made them. They’re just random YouTube videos with no context. And as I’m sure you already kno...

Re: Could foreign dub casts be a thing of the past?
So where is the evidence that these two videos are even AI? I believe that they likely are but there's no proof given in either of those links. Also, who is the uploader? Do we know anything about them either?

Re: A very important 15-year anniversary just passed (and your opinion on it)
Right, but at the end of the day, placing their dub over the Japanese score was a minor band-aid. They polished a turd. And that's where we have to agree to disagree I guess because I think it was a major upgrade. Also, I was honestly satisfied with the redub of Season 1 and 2. I was also mostly sa...

But not when they started releasing the show with subtitles with translations done by a well known online fan? Sure! What they did there was definitely a cool move for the hardcore fans! As a Canadian, I can't speak much on that because the releases you're talking about were incredibly expensive ov...

A very important 15-year anniversary just passed (and your opinion on it)
Last week was the 15th anniversary of when Funimation released the first Orange Brick and hence, the first time Funimation finally released DBZ the way people had been fighting for (for the past 11 years at that point, 96-07) English dubbed Dragon Ball Z with the original background music left fully...

Re: Could a dub version of "Cha-La Head Cha-La" work?
Wasn't there a somewhat English version of it on the orange bricks? There was one in Philippines! It was a different version than usual but I really like listening to it. Two versions even! I like the first one the best (of course besides the original Japanese) 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_f...

No amount of strong VA work will make things like fake Namek, snake way filler, and Garlic Jr worth watching for me.

What if international versions of DBZ had gone the Kai route from the get go?
DBZ is loaded with filler as we all know but it was for an understandable reason. The anime couldn't go ahead of the manga so they needed to stall for time. We all have our varying opinions on the quality of the filler and it's all valid but we can't really argue the necessity of the filler in the f...

Re: Long Live Chris Ayres
Always found if disturbing that Ayres needed to resort to a GoFundMe fundraiser to help pay for his medical bills. Shameful that Funimation didn't do more to help. I don't care if his contract stated no health benefits, you're a multi-million dollar company and one of your VAs was literally dying. T...

Can someone post a link of the first time Lee showcased the voice? I wasn't aware of this.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" Dub Turns 10; Still Unreleased
I'm having a lot of trouble extracting it from the Facebook messenger chat as he sent it as a voice clip. If you're comfortable doing so, you can PM me your Facebook and I can send it to you there (you don't have to add me as a friend for me to send it) I'm hoping someone more tech savy than me can ...

Okay I'm going to try and get it up. For reference, it sounds like a cross between Mark Hamill's Joker and the Blue Water DBGT Frieza.

Something cool just happened!
So I just messaged Lee Tockar and asked if, since so much time has passed, if he could show me what his Frieza sounded like. He recorded a 10 second clip of him doing the voice and sent it to me. Very cool!
Is there a way I can post it here? He gave me the go ahead.

Re: DBZ music used in UK food advert
Kikuchi isn't given a songwriting credit on the track which is unusual. Normally, when a musician takes a sample and uses it in a very prominent manner, the original artist is credited.

Dub-fans, was there an adjustment period for you when Goku started to be portrayed correctly in DBS?
So as we all know by now, Goku was never portrayed correctly in the original Funimation version. They took a character that was very selfish and cared only about fighting, and turned him into an altruistic superhero that only wants to help people and do good for the world. There is a huge difference...

Re: Kirby Morrow, Third Canadian Voice of Goku, Passes Away
His voice change in Yashaime might have had nothing to do with his passing. He was pushing 50, his voice isn't going to sound the same as it did 10 years ago.Lance Freeman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 8:56 pm Oh jeez, I knew he sounded off during Yashahime, I didn't think it was that serious though.
