Re: Dragon Box Vs. Dragon Ball Z Level 1.1

I'm surprised the BD didn't at least use the old dub-only NEPs that were produced for Cartoon Network/Toonami, surely FUNi has those kicking around somewhere? splice in the original film footage, and boom, HD!! These BDs are evidentally a dub centric release anyway, I don't see why they wouldn't do ...

Re: The Dragon Boxes WILL be Limited. (ANNCast Segment)

I am not mad at anyone for supporting the orange bricks. The way I see it, Funimation would never have considered doing the Dragon Box release at all if the season sets weren't already selling high volume. That said, I stopped buying the orange bricks as soon as the Dragon Box was announced, and con...

I find this a little worrying. An MSRP drop *heavily* implies that units were not moving to Funimation's satisfaction. I'm hoping they still find these profitable at the lower price. I *really* want to see at least Dragon Ball released as it's Dragon Box version (I have too many gripes with the regu...

I honestly don't see any possible announcements, if any at all, for GT. The whole reason we even got the DBox for Z was because we had never had a steady, proper release for the series. The Z DBox was obviously intended to cater to the majority of us who BEGGED for a proper 4:3 release that wasn't ...

Finally got mine today. Despite the minor complaints (all of which have already been brought up at some point in this thread), this is probably the first FUNimation release that has been done "right" in recent memory. Funimation reversioning, degraded Japanese audio, changing of show logos...

Being in Canada sucks. My set shipped along with the original ones from Right Stuf, and yet Friday's coming to an end and I *still* haven't gotten it.

Surely next week... :x

-Funi version is bit brighter, but that means the colors look a bit washed out (see Goku's hair), they look richer in the JP version This is actually expected if comparing a Japanese DVD to an American one. NTSC-J has an approximately 10% brightness difference from NTSC (due to slight differences i...

Alright so now that we know that the Dragon Box will feature only two tracks, what are some of your thoughts on the visual quality? Having listened to a podcast, I got the impression that the Japanese Dragon Boxes were not packed completely, so FUNimation MIGHT be able to pull it off. Do you think ...

This makes plenty of sense. I expect to see the Dragon Box Movies set (with all 13 DBZ films) come out, and then after that, you'll probably see singles versions of the Dragon Box versions of the movies, at which point you'll get a superior copy, and that way everyone's a winner. 8)

The description on Amazon gives me real hope that these are the real deal.

I'm just the kind of R2 importing obsessive purist this release seems to be targetting.

Don't disappoint me Funimation.
