Re: Factors that make UK Broadcasters pass on Dragon Ball Super.

Wow this is great news! :D I'd pretty much given up hope on a UK TV deal at this point. Now all we need is for them to air Kai TFC, which Kix never got around to airing. I just had a thought though. What if this is the reason the UK home release has been delayed, and we have to wait for the broadcas...

Re: Another Misconception Regarding Piccolo

This reminds me of the What-if scenario in Tenkaichi 2 where Piccolo goes ahead and kicks his ass, only to later realise who he is and be like "What have I done!". Go to to 2:13 in this video to check it out. https://youtu.be/Hz3lG2D6o2A I personally like to think that Piccolo would be stronger than...

Re: How many series exist for you?

I think you could make the argument that GT is also the same series as DB/Z. Although it had no Manga equivalent, it was produced immediately after Z ended with the largely same staff as the previous anime, and was part of the original 1986-1997 broadcast. From GT's page here on Kanzenshuu : "The m...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

I watched the gameplay footage and it's done nothing for me. Guess I just won't ever get into DB games ever again (last game I bought day one etc was Ultimate Blast that scarred me off DB games for life! Lol.) Why not give Fighterz a try? It's a great game. Xenoverse 1 and 2 are okay, if a bit hit ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Manga UK Home Release Thread

https://animeuknews.net/schedule/ Manga UK's schedule goes to the end of August and still no mention of Super Part 7 or One Piece for that matter. It's not looking very good at the moment I must say. This is their number 1 property at the moment and they've come to a stand still with it for no appar...

Re: Did the franchise ever POSITIVELY affect you?

I guess the theme of being the best you can that's in DB and anime in general helped me try to do the best I can in things such as School, work, etc. The theme of hard work = good results regardless of your background has also encouraged me to put more effort into things and to strive for better th...

Re: Did the franchise ever POSITIVELY affect you?

Yes because it's a very uplifting and inspiring series. From a young age it helped teach me the importance of courage in the face of adversity, the value of hard work and self discipline, and always served as escapism during tough times. Some will no doubt disagree with this point of view, but Goku ...

Re: Your ONE favorite character and your ONE favorite version of him/her

Time to know not only who is each member's favorite character, but also with what very specific appearance (costume/form) you prefer that favorite character! You truly have to choose only one character and one look, no "I like equally this one and this one"! Fan creations are off-limit, but everyth...

Re: Your ONE favorite character and your ONE favorite version of him/her

Super Saiyan Goku on Namek. He encompasses the look of a legendary warrior who has spent his life training. Super Saiyan never looked better on anyone than on Goku at that point. The hair was bigger than later on, as were the muscles. And his stare struck fear into the heart of Frieza. The blood and...

Re: Is Dragon Ball cynical at its core?

The author himself implies that is the case again and again, poison is a rather nefarious word that he likes to use. There are reasons to think that Toriyama wasn't just dissatisfied with Goku's potrayal, but entire anime adaptation and its tone, it's just that Goku is the central point, the questi...

Re: Long Battles

To me the Goku vs Frieza fight is great because of how brutal it is. You can see Goku exhausted at several points, he gets covered in cuts and blood, and his clothes get torn up a lot too. The fact that it goes on for so long makes all this seem even more brutal, as it's a test of both physical and ...

Re: Funimation buys MangaUK

This also means Manga UK are now owned by Sony right? Gotta say this came as a surprise. If nothing else, hopefully this will mean less of a gap between the US and UK releases. Perhaps the huge success of Manga UK's theatrical runs of the last 2 movies played a part in this. Manga UK are a small com...

Re: Is Dragon Ball cynical at its core?

I would say that the entire concept of Zen-Oh is pretty cynical. So, the Dragon Ball multiverse is run by a childish idiot who is more than willing to casually destroy entire universes for no real reason, and no one can do anything to stop him? I think you're looking too far into it. Zeno being all...

Re: Battle of Gods vs Super: Broly

I might be biased here because I got to see Broly on the bigscreen, and it's still new, but I do prefer it at least a bit. For me the stuff with Pilaf and co. brought BoG down slightly, as it inteferred with the main plot and felt out of place. I always liked them in DB and even GT, but they hurt th...

Re: Is Dragon Ball cynical at its core?

Honestly I think the cynicism is one of the key reasons why DB appeals to adults so much. I'd definitely say it's the opposite. It's an uplifting story which takes adults back to a simpler time, thus providing escapism from the more depressing side of life. People who think it's cynical are drastic...

Re: Differences in FUNimation's movie dub(s)

I'm not aware of every single change between the single releases and the double features, but one notable change in Cooler's Revenge involves how the music is mixed during Cooler and Goku's fight. On the single release, the music is shifted down and warped slightly when Cooler and Goku are fighting...

Re: HMV sale on Manga UK 's Movie Collection and Super Parts

The DBZ Movie Collection might refer to the DVD version, though, right? Shame HMV's online shop is gone. Last time I checked, the Super BDs were two for £25 there. It could be the DVD version for the Movie set too actually. I keep forgetting they released a DVD version of it. Both versions are £60 ...

HMV sale on Manga UK 's Movie Collection and Super Parts

https://twitter.com/MangaUK/status/1131977158551908352 £39:99 for the Blu-ray Movie Collection. Not bad at all. And £9:99 for the Super Parts, which I'm guessing are the DVD versions. I'm really glad HMV managed to avoid going bust, as they're the only UK high street store that sells most of Manga U...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Manga UK Home Release Thread

I appreciate when Manga UK admit to working on a future release. I hope they will be telling us that when we're waiting on the inevitable Super 2.0 and not make the same mistake they made with Kai: Final Chapters by telling everyone there was no plans, inevitably causing most of their customers to ...
