Re: "Sparking! ZERO" Official Announcement & Pre-Release Discussion Thread
Goku from Saiyan saga is way way different than Goku from Frieza/Cell Saga, and waaay different than goku from buu saga or goku from super saga, I think this way is actually amazing to represent the growth of these main characters. Right, and you can just represent Goku's evolution by adapting the ...

Re: DBZ's TV Ratings reign is over.
I remember the 1996-1998 dub episodes was still airing on Toonami in the early 00s when I was first getting into DB. I thought as much. It struck me as bizarre when people were suddenly claiming it never aired again after 1999. Especially when there were promos that used clips from Seasons 1, 2 and...

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"
To be fair, the fact that Frieza is a genocidal maniac kind of overshadows the landshark thing. Him conquering planets is a big part of his character, but it largely happens off screen. We actually see him killing innocent people regularly, and taking pleasure out if it. We hope for his downfall pri...

Re: Dragon Ball and Centrism disguised as "A Desire for works to stop being political"
DB has always avoided getting political, and that's part of what makes it so timeless and accessible. It's good because it focuses on telling a good story period. Its never once come across as preachy. If it did it would no longer be DB. All the worth while messages come across organically through t...

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
I haven't played FighterZ in forever, but was thinking about getting the PS5/rollback upgrade until I looked into it online. From everything I've seen online the current gen versions of the game have been botched, with multiple glitches and the visuals being off. There's a rumour that Arc System Wor...

Re: Your watching experience on Toonami
DBZ on Cartoon Network UK actually predated the Toonami block by several months, so I had already been watching for some time before Toonami UK first became a thing. When the block did arrive in late 2000 DBZ was obviously the main show, with Batman of the Future (Beyond), Samurai Jack, Xmen Evoluti...

Re: DBZ's TV Ratings reign is over.
The Saban dub also apparently never aired again on Toonami in the US after the inhouse dub premiered in 1999 (other than one time in early 2006 ), which would make it even more of a special event and something that could be hyped up as " Out of the vault from another dimension ". Didn't k...

Re: DBZ's TV Ratings reign is over.
If Toonami wanted better than normal ratings for this day and age they should try run something rarer like the old 276 episode Dragon Ball Z dub, although I guess for the Saban dub especially that wouldn't be viable as they'd need uncut content. I honestly like this idea. Yes many fans aren't even ...

Re: Super Saiyan 3
I love SS3 and have never understood the hate for it. To me it represents the culmination of Goku's years of training and dedication. It wasn't achieved out of anger, or a potential unlock, but through sheer hard work. This makes it feel earned. Fans often call both SS3 and Fusion a "waste"...

Re: Most Difficult Fights?
I found Budokai 2 Kid Buu insanely hard as a kid, although I now find him easy as I can do cancel combos for much higher damage. As a kid I had to resort to constantly running away to get healed by Dende, and wearing him down slowly. I remember the Vegeta vs Kid Buu fight in BT1 being tough too, as ...

Re: How would you introduce Dragon Ball to Gen Alpha?
Part of me wants to say start with DB then go onto Z. But then I think of the pacing issues, and that the Pilaf era isn't necessarily the best representation of the larger series. Those episodes could easily put potential new fans off. I like them well enough, but the series didn't really get going ...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain
I completely disagree. I like that he has so many forms. It adds to the sense of dread, like when he's in his 2nd form and reveals he can transform twice more. It really hits home that there's nothing any of them can do, and that they've messed with the wrong guy this time. And all of his forms look...

Re: Underrated dubs?
I feel the Saban dub of Seasons 1-2 doesn't get enough love these days from the wider fanbase. It's probably more overlooked than underrated. Many newer fans have never seen it, and in some cases don't even know it exists. Obviously the fact that it hasn't had a re-release since 2013 doesn't help (a...

Re: Do you like fusions?
I've always liked them. Gotenks is a fun character with some cool techniques and funny moments. Vegito and Gogeta are both in the running for most badass character in the franchise. Vegito gives Buuhan what may be the most humiliating beatdown of the series, which felt so satisfying after watching B...

Re: Is a Budokai Reboot possible ?
Maybe, but I hope not. I'd rather have something new, or a sequel to FighterZ which in my opinion is a much better fighting game. I'm hoping for a FighterZ 2 aswell, but I'd be ecstatic if they announced a new Budokai game, and there's no reason we can't get both. If you don't want it fair enough, ...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France
If I didn't own the home releases I'd be all over this. Even if it's not free it's still pretty damn good for the amount of content you get. Paying a monthly fee for a few months while you binge 600+ episodes is a great deal. I'm a physical media guy who loves to collect the home releases, but many ...

I remember when GT first aired in the UK, they accidentally skipped the episode were Baby first goes to earth. They skipped to the next episode were he was fighting Goten and I was confused. I'm sure they went back and aired it the day after though. Come to think of it I think the same thing happene...

Re: Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball in Ireland, UK and France
Amazing news. This is long overdue, and will hopefully get more people back into the series. I'm sure the home releases will continue to do well, as many anime fans tend to be collectors. It would be great if we could get the OG DB movies on there too, as only the first is available in the UK/Ireland.

Re: Dragon Ball and the PAL audio pitch adjustment/correction
The PAL speedup thing is something I'd only briefly heard of back in the day, and it wasn't until more recently that I read up on it extensively and had my mind blown. I remember watching the Rocky movies on TV years ago before later getting the DVDs. The DVDs, while still sped up, were pitch correc...
