Toriyama WAS good but these days his art is also strange looking. In some ways I see him parallel Yamamuro in terms of his designs looking much poorer than older work.

Art Style comparison
Found an interesting picture regarding the various key faces seen for Goku. I think it is missing Maeda, Modern Toriyama, Toyotaro, and Nakatsuru but I digress. Plus it would have been nice to get the faces in all the same expression but it is close enough. If someone was willing to add the other ar...

Re: Very faithful Faulconer styled compositions and remakes
What's the audio equivalent of "on-model"? Because this is that. Thank you for bringing attention to this. I wonder if he's done any themes for Super? Hey I'm glad to share great work! And yeah I would say this is an example of "on-model" work for audio/music. I'm sure you can a...

Re: FUNi Kai dub with the Ocean Dub / Westwood Dub music?
Has anyone done it? It would be pretty awesome to have it so while it wouldn't be an actual Ocean Kai dub, we'd get to hear the Ocean music while watching Dragon Ball Kai in English. There have been talks about Ocean Kai dub to air in Canada but we've been waiting years and years, and I hope it eve...

Very faithful Faulconer styled compositions and remakes
Hello everyone! Just came across a channel that emulates the old Faulconer Production style to a point that it is hard to distinguish it from the originals. Here's a sample of his work: Raditz Theme(Original composition) Goku Healing Remake Vegeta vs Jeice Remake Kid Goku Theme (Original composition...

Honestly, if I were a voice actor, I'd probably stay in Los Angeles. As much as I like Vancouver VA's a great deal, they don't really get quality shows to work with. It's even worse with Toronto VA's. I'll keep this brief since I want to respect the wishes of the mods by keeping this thread focused...

the consolidation of these companies into a near monopoly is worrisome. Sometimes things are better left to the smaller guys.... bit off topic, but then again... not really.

Re: The "Makankōsappō"...How WOULD you localize that?
Demonic Beam Fire would be a sweet translation. I just put together suggestions here and what the original Ocean dub had for the attack name. Fire sounds really cool when shouted out, especially when Scott McNeil does it
To be fair, "Beam Cannon Fire" was a decent stand in.

Re: Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0
Oof... Yamamuro's latest work is truly awful. And yes objectively it is incorrect. The fusion dance one has shading all over the place that makes no sense: Goku's shading on his hair has light coming from underneath while Vegeta's lighting comes from above.... awful. He's got to be phoning it in by...

Re: Toei poll "Favorite Dragon Ball Movie of All Time"
I disagree with that list, quite a lot actually. So I guess the general fanbase is pretty much bust with anything without Vegeta eh? DBZ movies 1-3 are generally really great with cool locations and interesting villains. I think DBZ movie 1 is the spotlight for the pre-Vegeta films but also all film...

Re: Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0
Also MetalWario, I really like your positive POV on this. It's really sad to see a legend fall from grace. Maybe he will get inspired by his collegue(s). I agree. For all my complaints about modern Yamamuro, I did really like his aesthetic back when it was fresher in the late DBZ/GT stages of the s...

Re: The FULL version of the infamous DBZ French opening
The one for the original Dragon Ball fits pretty well since the tone of DB is much lighter. The Blue Water dub we got in Canada actually uses an English version of that too. The one for DBZ is awful though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVrVTinOsBw I don't understand the hate it gets in the comme...

Re: Nathan M. Johnson Unreleased Music
On his old website, he had some of his unreleased score up in great quality which you could download. Perhaps his site was archived? Not a fan of his music (sounded mostly like background noises to me) but I did try to find his old website. Nathan Johnson Dragon Ball Z Music Nathan Johnson DBZ Musi...

Re: Funimation and swearing
Just something I was thinking about. At least in the early days Funimation seemed to be pretty damn wussy about even the most mild of swears in their uncut products back in the day. It was mostly a bunch of darns and bite me and friggin. Then oddly enough you had Dende’s infamous “Don’t piss off th...

Re: Funimation and swearing
FUNimation seemed awfully wish washy about their use of swear words back in the day. They mostly steered clear of them in the early years of their in house dub, but their dub of movie 7 (which predates the Ultimate Uncut dub) had #13 saying things like “I’m here to kill your ass”. Even when the Ult...

The Retcon of Spirit and Time - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Cell Arc Part 10! Dragon Ball Dissection December has begun. Goku gets well, so he can immediately take himself out of the action, waiting his turn for a magical training room. In fact, it's so magical, it retroactively makes the beginning...

Re: Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0
I like Shintani's new poster well enough, but his style is a bit inconsistent to me. Sometimes it's a bit too soft and round, and other times like the design sheets it looks more angular and more appealing to me. https://i.imgur.com/xCG9G6I.jpg These eyes are actually more in line with Toriyama's s...
