Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Master Mutato being a minor character should not factor into it. If he is white skinned in the cartoon then he should be cast as a white skinned guy (I'm not sure if Mutato is supposed to be Asian or Caucasian) in the live action version. (It should not be a requirement but a heavy consideration) W...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I just lost all sympathy and I am starting to lose PATIENCE with the "THE FILLER DRAGS ON! LAMEZORX!!!!!!!!!" As soon as they say that, they've lost ANY CREDIBILITY with me. They never talk about how any of the SPECIFIC filler scenes kill the pacing, no, its just "LAME FILLER LAMEZOR...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z Anime both aged terribly, godawful pacing, bad non canon & "Anime canon" Filler sometimes embarrassing Animation & Art ....moments like Goku's SS3 transformation where he is screaming for 3-4 Minutes straight is why other shonen fans clown Dragon Ba...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"

Aesthetics are important. Broly has an amazing design. It's not his personality that made him a big deal. It's his look and that he's a wrecking machine. Designs matter a lot. Eye catching memorable designs are INCREDIBLY important, especially in animation. Boba Fett is a big deal almost entirely du...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

It's weird, even if Toriyama wasn't somewhat active in the past couple years, and if he became a hermit after DB ended, this moment would still be surreal. If DB was all he was responsible for, that would be a hell of a distinction. But after hearing of all the things he influenced directly or indir...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain

Fights in the later parts of Dragon Ball are flashy light shows where the winner is the one with the higher power level. I wouldn’t really call that “martial arts.” The fighting is too simplistic. There’s not really any sense that skill or strategy actually matter. This isn't true. Buu was stronger...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain

. For all the talk about how Dragon Ball is a martial arts series, there’s very little actual martial arts. I mean yeah except for literally the entire series. Fights in the later parts of Dragon Ball are flashy light shows where the winner is the one with the higher power level. I wouldn’t really ...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain

As for martial arts in DB, ki blasts and flight and things of that nature are martial arts. Sure, but as the series goes on, they start to feel less like martial arts and more like superpowers. I mean, even low level grunts in Freeza’s forces seem to at least be capable of flight, and Freeza himsel...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain

It’s somewhat debatable how skilled of a fighter Raditz actually is. He was completely helpless when Goku grabbed his tail, even though Goku himself overcame that weakness when he was a kid, and and Vegeta and Nappa didn’t have that weakness either. Let’s be honest though, when it comes to the latt...

Re: Freeza shouldn’t have been a transforming villain

I find the fight between the non-Goku characters and Freeza to be less him “playing with his food” and more just plain incompetence, particularly when he’s constantly getting blindsided and getting the shit beaten out of him until he decides it’s time to transform again, so he can comfortably domin...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball would have worked better if Goku died on Namek?

My preferred ending for Goku's arc is to become a martial arts master. He can't do that if he dies on Namek, because it's in the Cell and Boo arcs that we see him begin training others. So, I don't think Dragon Ball would have worked better if he died on Namek. This is why I think the 23rd Tenkaich...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball would have worked better if Goku died on Namek?

After Goku become crappy character past Freeza saga (in my opinion, he keeps making same mistakes and never learned from them) I wouldn't mind if he stayed death, same with Vegeta Why would he learn? It's not like he failed. And no, my answer will always be "no" whenever this question ari...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

I don't consider that a great post bc a decade long manga with no gaps is not the same as a new work project. It's one thing to be prepared, it's another to have it all planned out in a serialized narrative. There are always things that change on the fly, and you can't anticipate everything. Man pla...

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

I think your view of "nowhere" is so limiting. It is a show about fighting. Of course it's going to spend a lot of episodes on big fights. It's a fighting show. They are going to fight. All the plot in the show is ultimately subservient to the end where it's solved with a big fight. So ye...

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

In Kai, it's 12 episodes. Honestly, I didn't even completely read the first 5 arcs of the manga's Super (or 4, since Fukkatsu no F is something separate), so I considered filler what seemed like filler to me (Scenes with the Pilaf Gang, Goku saying he doesn't know what which is a kiss, etc), I know ...

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

"Let them. Make 7 episodes all about that. Please, let them go to Namek. At least SOMETHING will happen." YOu guys are exaggerating. Not only do I have a hard time believing you would want an idea that sounds this boring even on paper, you are exaggerating about how long the fights are. Y...

Re: Could this be the reason they don't continue DB Super series yet?

The Yu-gi-oh virtual world filler arc is one of the worst examples I can think of for 2000s shonen anime. Just stopping the main storyline dead to do a half years worth of an anime exclusive storyline before going back to the main story and pretending it never happened. (I think the English dub eve...
