Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Well, what does Elec need that he doesn't already have? Elec's trade is selling planets...but would he want to just have every planet easy to steal?

Maybe he wants more planets to steal? Insuring ghat he will have work for years to come?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

To be fair, the flashback was told from Monaito's account, who was more concerned about telling Granolah about the Saiyan who saved him than his mother (due to the urgency of the situation). I don't think so. The emotions are Bardock's, Monaito is simply serving as a voice for this I'm the present....

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Well, clearly we got some hints at that here. It's a consistent characterization and actually interesting to see unfold. It's too bad how it centers women less as having their own stories and more as being tools for the development of men, though. I guess if Toriyama actually commits and gives Bard...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Broli film: "What if Bardock was becoming disillusioned with the Saiyan way just as the planet was destroyed?" Granola arc: "What was leading Bardock to become disillusioned with the Saiyan way?" Well, clearly we got some hints at that here. It's a consistent characterization and actually interestin...

Superman is coming out as bisexual and getting a boyfriend, Jay Nakamura! As something of a bisexual myself (and a fujoshi) I wanted to spread and celebrate this great news! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Fan fiction has a nice function but it's usually of low quality.
Goddamn, you're a pessimist.

Who cares? Everything has stuff that sucks! Focus on the good.

Re: Is anyone annoyed that the revival happened?

Heroes is good, actually. I think it adds an interesting avenue to see different types of scenarios portrayed through various types of media and I quite enjoy that. 'Fan fiction' is not the pejorative so many folks seem to think it is. Fan fiction is good, actually, and has a rich history in the qu...

I mean, I think it's interesting to read old threads to understand the mood of the time. It can also feel nostalgic to do so. Replying can revive said thread, too, without cluttering the forum with seventeen different threads about who one's favorite composer is while also providing a historical co...

Re: Necropost

I haven't been a member here long enough to have that reaction, but I'd imagine it's similar to the Facebook post "reminders" you get after a year or more. More often than not, I don't like seeing what I posted a year or more ago, as I like to think I've grown as a person and don't want a reminder....

Re: Necropost

Any time an old thread pops back up that I posted in it is the weirdest feeling for me. It's like "who is this chick?"

I personally don't think that it's that big of a deal but also, I can't remember far back, either. Why reply to someone that basically no longer exists?

There are many illustration jobs that have similar overworking problems. The "Crunch" work ethic is unethical.
Yeah, work culture is so toxic. Even people with fuck-you money fall into this pitfall because capitalism is always demanding more and that has bled into 99+% of our society.

Re: Looking back, most transformations in Z were just lazy ways to extend the fight

Yeah, the relentless schedule honestly is a very plausible reason for any lack of motivation or drop in creativity. With Cell and Boo, it was pretty clear Toriyama wasn't writing with the same creative fervor, and I'm a fan of those arcs. Hell, I'm to tired to write a book I have half-way outlined ...

Re: Looking back, most transformations in Z were just lazy ways to extend the fight

Anyone who has ever experienced being stuck in a job they hate and being unable to feel relaxed because of their job should, in fact, understand the pain of sleeping four hours a day for ten years while physically laboring 12-20 hours the rest of the day. The weekly scheduling has literally broken a...

Re: Looking back, most transformations in Z were just lazy ways to extend the fight

Far be it for me to defend a rich asshole but perhaps the weekly comic release format is inhumane and that inhumanity leads to a lack of creativity because its hard to be creative when you're not sleeping or living a life.

Re: Why does the OG Dragon Ball gets so little love from TOEI / BANDAI etc

DB can be rebooted and still contain its classical content, but ultimately it would be for a different audience aka an adult one so i don't think Toei would be happy investing in an anime reboot that would be R rated at minimum. If they did that they could only make such a thing for two different t...

Re: Why does the OG Dragon Ball gets so little love from TOEI / BANDAI etc

Capitalism, baby!

A profit-driven system turns everything into a competition to monetize properties. The less one can monetize a work the more useless it is!
