Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

How does one even go about concluding what an actor’s sexuality is, unless they explicitly say so?

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

I’m not talking about bigots. I’m talking about potential allies. When fighting for any cause, it’s important to avoid leaving a bad impression to the people who are undecided on the matter. Alienating people from any given cause is never a good idea. What's the compromise between people who think ...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

At this point, I think I feel comfortable in saying that people like Hank Azaria and Mike Henry shouldn’t have stepped down from their roles. Not only do I seriously doubt that many people still care about The Simpsons or Family Guy , but those guys had already been voicing their respective charact...

Re: Do you still enjoy non-canon Dragon Ball content?

There already is a multiverse in the Dragon Ball world, and it’s been established that there are only 12 universes total, none of which includes stuff like the old movies or DBGT.

Re: "Dragon Ball XENOVERSE 2" Official Discussion Thread

With the sheer abundance of DLC’s that this game received, I’m just left here wondering what they could possibly do for a third game at this point. I can’t imagine they’re going to put that much emphasis on improving the combat system.

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 7/6/20!)

Present Trunks seems to have pretty much lost all his attitude that he had as an 8 year old by Super. It’s weird because you’d think he would’ve gotten even more attitude once he became a tween/teen, but Super has just been painting him as this naive kid who wants to impress Mai.

Re: Do you still enjoy non-canon Dragon Ball content?

I also forgot to mention that as far as canon vs. non-canon goes, I actually kind of prefer the old Broly’s backstory over the canon one’s, although I am inclined to say that the new movie is a bit better overall. I agree with this, but did the original Broly need a remake ? Despite the new one bei...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

If Uub becomes a big character again, he needs to be recasted. This valley boy voice does not work with him. And it's totally insulting to have a caucasian person play him. Valley boy? Because of Funimation's extremely small talent pool during Z and GT, many of the characters are voiced by locals i...

Re: The hills we choose to die on and the fights we battle for when it comes to Dragon Ball

To me, Super is something that just sort of exists. The anime obviously suffered from a difficult production schedule, while the manga was clearly made primarily to promote the anime (at least early on), but neither version is terrible. Oh, except maybe for the movie adaptations. I couldn’t care les...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

For all this talk about representation, it does beg the question, should disabled characters be required to be played by people with those very disabilities? For example, Mike Henry stepped down as the voice of Cleveland from Family Guy , due to not being black, but no one ever seems to bring up tha...

Re: Minority representation for minority characters in Voice acting

I can’t imagine that there would’ve been very many trans actors in places like New York or Texas back in the late 90s/2000s. Maddie Blaustein seems to have been the exception, and as far as I know, she was mostly cast as male characters. Come to think of it, how common are trans anime characters any...

Re: Anyone else think BT2 had one of the worst story modes of any of these games?

It's the same issue that we see in plenty of other game series: the standards for Dragon Ball games set by Dragon Ball fans is not the same standard that video gamers use for video games in general. By those standards, virtually no Dragon Ball game has a good story mode, not even FighterZ. Sparking...

Re: Semi Perfect Cell is Underrated

Damien Clarke's SP Cell voice was dare I say - perfect. Do you mean that ironically? I certainly don’t have a problem with it, but I have seen some people who aren’t too crazy about it. Considering how goofy the design is and how petulant he is in this form, such a ridiculous voice is very fitting....

Re: Anyone else think BT2 had one of the worst story modes of any of these games?

Frankly, I always much preferred the story mode for BT3. BT3's story mode problem is that only two characters can be shown on screen at the same time. I don't know why they added such limitation, but it was awkward in fights like Goku & Piccolo vs Raditz for example. They constantly had to swap pos...

Re: Semi Perfect Cell is Underrated

Cell is easily at his least intimidating in that form, despite it being his second strongest. Not only is the design goofy, but he spends a good chunk of his time getting knocked around, which ultimately culminates in him becoming a bulbous balloon about to pop. I can see why someone like Akira Tori...
