Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

I think you assume too much. Maybe they don't think it's a movie they could do and be profitable. Star Wars is making Billions, but sure, it's struggling, and Episode 9 is poised to make Disney over 1B. Not to sound dismissive, but that's just flat out incorrect. And it's not all the same people wo...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Ugh. As I recall saying in a similar thread, I do not trust anyone in current-day Hollywood to produce a decent Dragon Ball adaptation. I guarantee you it'll either be a director who barely cares about the material, or a "fan", more than likely someone who just watched the Z dub on Toonami and that...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

If Disney did a DB movie, even under a Fox banner, I would hope they remember it is a children's show. Why would they forget that? This is Disney we’re talking about. If there’s one studio in Hollywood that’s absolutely obsessed with maintaining their image as a family friendly company, it’s Disney...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

I don't want them to make a DB movie because Disney has a bad track record with their movies recently. Even the MCU movies are okay at best even for popcorn flick standers. Disney probably won’t make one anyway. They’re too preoccupied with Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, Pixar, and the live action rema...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Pixar movies all kind of just blend together at this point. Same goes for the films by Walt Disney Animation. Both of those studios have the same sort of style. I didn't mean Pixar themselves have to do it. Just that it could be sort of Pixar-styled. Something like what the game Overwatch does with...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

This is thoughtful and I very much agree with you, except for your critique of the tone. I had no issue with the tone. Over the broad strokes of the movie it was fine, I just meant certain scenes. The way things start off with a long gag with Hux, the bizarre and unintentionally-funny "flying space...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Personally, I think Disney could make a great Pixar-styled animated Dragon Ball movie (it would have to be based on classic Dragon Ball and not Z, or Super as I think that animation style wouldn't work too well for those series). I could see live-action working too, if done right, and if it's Disne...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

The fundamental problem in Hollywood, moreso in regards to blockbusters, is that its approach isn't long term oriented. They put films into production with a release date before they even have finished scripts. Theatrical release windows are shorter which doesn't allow for as much word of mouth for...

Re: Would Level Sets be more sucessfull if Funimation wait more?

I'd definitely say the Japanese version has been more widely accepted since Super. There's still a not insignificant number of fans who stick exclusively to the Funimation dub but I think now that they followed the Super sub while waiting a large number of those former dub elitists can at least app...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

it basically has the same ingredients as the original series. Same ingredients, but not put together by chef(s) as good as before. I does bug me that we can't leave stories alone and wonder if time couldn't be better spent by everyone, both fans and creators alike on something else. Instead of find...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

I agree. The ending of the TOP arc felt rushed as well. Maybe it was less bothersome there because it had been dragging on and there wasn't much of a story going on. The TOP arc ultimately got so long (and there was some rather questionable filler in between the Zamasu and TOP arc), it's sad they d...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

Plus, that means you don't suffer through the utterly abysmal ending. Though realistically, to properly judge the arc, you do need to take it as a whole. Skipping over the parts that make it shit means that you're not really watching the arc, it's almost like you're watching a fanedit. Which ties i...

Re: Would Level Sets be more sucessfull if Funimation wait more?

Okay, I’ve said this before, but I think you guys are severely overstating how much people still care about the FUNimation dub. From what I’ve seen, more and more people these days are actually fine with the Japanese version. Many people who previously had a preference for the dub have become accust...

Re: Would Level Sets be more sucessfull if Funimation wait more?

How well did the Blu-ray season sets do? Very well. Not Orange Brick levels(Still the best selling by far...still in stores over 10 years later), but the season Blu rays have been very successful for them. I see. In that case, the level sets probably would’ve done noticeably better if FUNimation ha...

Re: Why does the Garlic Jr. filler arc exist?

I think people get caught up way too much in the plot mechanics and "logic" rather than the characters and their arcs. Garlic Jr. is already vastly stronger than we first met him because he's closer to a planet. Piccolo is also way stronger after having fused with Nail. Having the Makyo Star make G...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

In fairness, Super's overall tone is quite laid-back; even at its darkest moments, there's a sense that things tend to work out. Super very much always heads to a reset state, and we all already know how the story ends, so... It's just not as much of a tense show, I think, is what wolflonnie's prob...

Re: PlayStation 5 and the future of DBZ games..

I don’t think they should even bother with a XV3. Where else is there to take that series? Anywhere. Or to somewhere that has not been actually covered (completely) yet. I wouldn't think it's a stretch to think someone at Dimps is part of that "Dragon Ball Room". So even if they somehow manages to ...
