Re: Dragon Ball films in high-definition
The movies were produced on 35mm film, not digitally. There is no "resolution" for film based materials. The film is scanned at a certain resolution when it's transferred to home video. When 35mm film is scanned digitally, it can theoretically have a resolution of up to 4K depending on the quality o...

Re: DBZ "Vengeance of the Demon King" Australian VHS
I have a feeling in my gut that is indeed an official release. The effort put into it is about the same amount Speedy put into their VCDs. Plus their name and address is on the box.

Re: Unofficial Video Release Screenshot Thread
That's the American Dragon Box, which actually uses a slightly different master print than the Japanese one, which in turn uses the original 16mm film masters. So that's really just the 2010 picture, not the 2003 one.

AAC audio is incompatible with DVD and Blu-ray. I wish these had been exported to AC3 at least.

Re: So I just bought the Blu-rays...
Does anyone know if they're going to release blu-ray version for GT? I have the blu-ray's for Kai and Z (FUNImination) The only reason they made Blu-ray's for Z is because they knew everyone would eat them up. In reality, the upscale process that they use is minuscule, and a Blu-ray release would b...

Re: So I just bought the Blu-rays...
Not everyone is going to be disappointed by macro blocking. I agree that it is undesirable, but someone else that is neither you nor me may not even care. And I'll argue that watching a macroblocked, original 4:3 aspect ratio picture is better than watching a grossly oversaturated, tiltscanned 16:9 ...

Re: So I just bought the Blu-rays...
The big benefit of the singles is being a somewhat cheaper solution to watching most of the series in Japanese with a 4:3 picture, especially coupled with the Level Sets. You'd only need the first two Dragon Box sets at that point, although that is a big "only" for those without the cash for them. S...

Re: CBR ranks the DBZ sagas
Ah yes, who can forget the 5 episode Raditz saga ? Seriously, why the fuck did they use those names (The names are from the Wiki, so yeah great start) ? I know everyone has different names for the arcs and I'd be stupid if I expected everyone else to use mine, but the so called "Babidi", "Trunks" a...

Re: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle Transfer Question
In the race between Kuririn and Goku at the begging of the film the two just float in the remastered disc because the running animation alternated between two frames. Unfortunately, it looks like the 1080p online version on Funimation's site is this "remastered" version. It looks so good and really...

Where are the remaining Speedy dub VCDs?
I've been on a manhunt recently for the infamous Speedy dub released on VCD. Here's a checklist of the movies I've found so far in my searches: [X] DB Movie 02 [√] DB Movie 03 [X] DB Movie 04 [√] DBZ Movie 01 [√] DBZ Movie 02 [√] DBZ Movie 03 [√] DBZ Movie 04 [√] DBZ Movie 05 [√] DBZ Movie 06 [√] DB...

There are translations out there of the NEPsTheGreatness25 wrote:It would be kind of cool if someone could translate the next episode previews from the Dragon Boxes. That would be pretty cool. Until then, there's just no way to get English subtitles of next episode previews.

I'm saying its probably lazy bootlegging. All of their covers feature mismatched screenshots to what's actually include on the VCDs. They probably don't know or dont care.

Re: anyone have tv recordings of the cell saga
So the thing about the Australian VHSes is that they are formatted like the Pioneer VHSes here in America. The format is as follows: Opening / Recap / Episode / Episode / Episode / Ending / Preview The Cell Games tapes DO have Kelly, but inconsistently at best. He's in the recap and preview of each ...

The Arrival VCD contains episodes 1 and 2 of the Saban/Ocean dub. The Legend of Shenron VCD contains Funimations first dubbing of DB Movie 1. Finally the Super Saiya People, Goku VCD contains the Speedy Dub (Filipino English dub) of DBZ Movie 4. Can somebody please explain what is in this and this ...

Re: Avaliable next episode previews
All of the NEP's are available for the Saban dub. Most of them are available on the Rock the Dragon collection, though the one for "Escape from Piccolo" can only be found on the corresponding R4 single (I imagine the R4 singles also have the Saban NEPs). They don't sync or correspond to the Japanes...

There are a few episodes like that and it would be pretty cool to have decent versions of those alternate mixes.
