Re: Worst Dub Errors/Mistranslations

Oh, God... where to even begin... I suppose the biggest English Dub fuck ups I remember the most vividly are: - When Vegeta and Nappa destroy some buildings from crash landing on Earth, Vegeta says, "Too bad it's Sunday, those buildings would have been filled up tomorrow!" How Vegeta knew it was Sun...

Re: Which was your favorite training?

Goku and Krillin's tutelage under Roshi will always remain my favourite training arc. It hits all of the right notes of balancing the whimsical tone of story, while also taking the training itself seriously enough that it doesn't make all of the hard work and effort seem like a waste of time, AND i...

Re: Dragon Ball Super DVD and Blu-ray Sales

Part 9 sold 7,827 copies on DVD and 13,380 copies on Blu Ray in its first week on sale in America.

I also made some adjustments to previous figures as they've changed since I last posted here

Re: Where did the powercreep really start?

If I had to pinpoint it down to one moment it would the reveal of Freeza having a BP of 530,000. Such a stupid fucking thing to do from a narrative perspective, because it established right off the bat that main cast would need a HUGE power-up and/or transformation to have any chance of winning. And...

Re: Team Four Star's influence on Dragon Ball's revival

I like TFS as much as next guy, but... come the fuck on. They have had zero influence on Dragon Ball's revival. Dragon Ball was still getting yearly video games, home video re-releases and occasional reruns on TV, so even amongst the most niche part of the fandom, Dragon Ball always had a presence i...

At least we'll always have this Bojack joke:

Back when they announced Bojack, I was hoping It was going to have Bojack Horseman references in it.

Re: What are your other favorite non-Dragon Ball movies/shows

Man.. listing all of my favourite movies and TV shows would hard as hell to do, as there is a lot of shit I love. But... there are always a dozen or so shows and movies that are ALWAYS the first to spring to my mind when I think of what I consider my favourite shit to watch: Movies: The Shawshank Re...

Re: Z or Original Dragon Ball? Which do you prefer and why?

Put me in the camp that think the divide in the story of having Dragon Ball on side and Dragon Ball Z on another is not only stupid and pointless, but harmful to a potential assumptions what kind of narrative a person going into Dragon Ball blind may be expecting. Dragon Ball as a whole has its ups ...

Do we have the sales number for Dragon Ball Legends ? I wonder how much BN got money from it.
It was reported back in November last year that Dragon Ball Legends had generated at that point $301 million dollars.

Re: I've been thinking and honestly One Piece seems superior to Dragon Ball?

Comparing One Piece to Dragon Ball is like apples and oranges. The only real similarity between them is that they're stories aimed at young Japanese boys. But if we're looking in a more specific lens and are taking into consideration narrative aspects such as character development, pacing, central t...

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged

I'm glad TFS pulling are the plug on DBZA now rather than continuing to do something they've obviously felt quite burnt out on. Your product will ALWAYS suffer in quality the moment you're not having fun with it anymore. Because when you are having fun with your own creation, the more dedicated you ...

FighterZ Ultra Instinct is the best looking version of Ultra Instinct in any visual medium.

Re: Thoughts on a potential Netflix series.

If they get the right people involved, (i.e. people who know about Dragon Ball beyond a surface level and have an understanding of Wuxia in general) perhaps a Netflix series could work. But this begs an even bigger question... Why even fantasise about a live action adaption of manga that has always ...

Re: The Future of DBS

If Dragon Ball Super isn't willing to move forward (i.e. having a narrative take place beyond the 10 year blank period), I think it should end. You can only keep the cast suspended in the same period for some long before the banality of the narrative will become too noticeable to ignore.
