Re: My concept for a Dragon Ball action RPG [2027 Edition]

Let me create a specific scenario. I'll use my Xenoverse 2 character, Ral, who is a Saiyaness. In Saiyan Knights, I start with Ral a lower-class Saiyan. I could start with her as a child, young adult, or fully mature, so I go with her as a child. I could then choose to either start her on Planet New...

My concept for a Dragon Ball action RPG [2027 Edition]

During my incoherent rambling in the Xenoverse 3 ideas thread, I mentioned that I've been toying with some ideas for a "Perfect Dragon Ball game". In truth, I've been considering these ideas for 7 or 8 years now and I dubbed this concept "Saiyan Knights" long ago so that's what I'll be using just to...

Re: The Perfect Xenoverse 3/Feedback for Dimps & Bandai Namco

When it comes to the subject of characters and character customization, I'm of the opinion that they have to add, add, and add. Perhaps it's because I grew up with the Tenkaichi games and, thus, I'm spoiled by their large rosters. I have a literary mind and adore roleplaying, so I always prefer havi...

Re: The Perfect Xenoverse 3/Feedback for Dimps & Bandai Namco

Adding the ability to stack on more accessories is also a common wish I've seen. I always use Yajirobe's hair for my avatar because it's so suitably Saiyanesque whereas most of the hairstyles built into the game just seem too Human. But my biggest gripe is that I don't get a tail unless I wear Saiya...

Re: The Perfect Xenoverse 3/Feedback for Dimps & Bandai Namco

In terms of endgame content, I'd just adore DBZ games so much more if they had proper power scaling. Sure, in the main game, I want to be able to use Mr. Satan to karate chop Whis to death if I so choose, but I've also wanted another mode where the devs coded in some hardcore stats. As in, I shouldn...

Youtube... comments... Well there's where you went wrong. It's been over a decade since the meme started and it's never been wrong— YouTube comments are literally the cesspool of the internet. I could go onto a video of a recipe on how to make sugar cookies with <1,000 views and I guarantee I'll fi...

Re: I've been toying around with a story concept that takes up a lot from Dragon Ball

A few things going on recently: I want to give yabans an official binomial nomenclature. How does Saiyanthropus robustus sound? I've grown obsessed with watching videos of primates grooming. This is just making me want to double down on making yabans more primate-esque in behavior. Young Enekai is p...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

As for Ribrainne, many simply thinks she's an annoying, one-dimensional, pointless gag-character with a terrible design. That to me was one of the Major Problems with how the fan community reacted to Ribrianne a year ago and was one of the most disappointed aspects the fandom showed. It was just al...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

And it doesn't have to be this way. The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha is a great example of a new, fresh direction to take Dragon Ball— give other characters their own series! Turn Dragon Ball into the Japanese equivalent of the Marvel or DC extended universes! It's not like Superman's story...

Re: Funimation and swearing

I don't mind a little swearing, but I don't like how Funi seem to be throwing vulgarity into every sentence they can conceivably fit it into these days. Almost feels like some 12-year-old who's just learned what swear words are, and is just throwing them around. Though, Freeza's exclamations ...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

Agreed. Perhaps the biggest missed opportunity in GT (along with not bringing Uub along for the "Grand Tour"). I mean, they only had 64 episodes. I struggle to think of a place she could have transformed without it being totally superfluous to the plot. She was the deuteragonist of GT and got more ...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

if Gohan were just now introduced and did what Caulifla has done, I'd call him a cheap Gary Stu (and it'd actually fit since he's literally the son of the main character and a princess , whom even enemies respect, unlike Caulifla who is just an overpowered punk/outlaw). Wait, what? :wtf: It's been ...

Re: Which of FUNimation's Name Changes Bother You the Most?

Likewise, Tenshinhan's name comes from Tianjin Fan or Tianjin Rice, a dish that is supposedly made from rice from Tianjin, China (in actuality, it's a Japanese-original dish, similar to how fortune cookies aren't actually Chinese). Tenshinhan is the Japanese reading of the word, and Tien Chinfan wo...

Re: Does Dragon Ball have the largest, least toxic, fandom in existence of fictional franchises?

Caulifla and Kale were not at all helped by bullshitting their way to Super Saiyan so easily, and the S-cell stuff is also still a hard sell for many nerds who are still upset over Midichlorians. It's just natural that there was going to be a misogynist backlash to them getting Super Saiyan— you'd h...

Re: Which of FUNimation's Name Changes Bother You the Most?

I still use some dub names out of tradition, though I've altered my use of others (all of the "i" renames: Tenshinhan instead of Tien, Chaozu instead of Chiaotzu, Freeza instead of Frieza; Muten Roshi rather than Master Roshi; Kaio-sama over King Kai; Bra over Bulla; Shenlong over Shenron; Tullece ...

Re: Replacing 20X Kaioken With False Super Saiyan...

I've never heard anyone claim it's a 25x boost. Most fans I've seen claimed it was anywhere between a 40x to even 100x power boost. One reason being that Goku uses Kaioken x100 near the end of the movie, and since he seems to do more damage to Super Slug, the pseudo Super Saiyan form must not be qui...

Re: WIth Pokemon Live Action a thing, maybe a serious Live Action DB Series could work...

No. It won't work because most of it would be animated anyway so why bother. Also it would be silly. Not the good kind of silly. It would be the best kind of silly. Kung Fu Hustle was a good example of what a live-action Dragon Ball would look like, what with its cartooniness and wackiness mixed wi...

Re: WIth Pokemon Live Action a thing, maybe a serious Live Action DB Series could work...

Given how DBE was a critical and box office flop, I still doubt anyone in Hollywood would want to touch DB again anytime soon. Kunzait_83 inadvertently opened my eyes to something I hadn't previously considered— why does everyone automatically assume that "Live Action DB" = "Hollywood/Western creat...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball dub would have benefit from an English Recast?

Seriously, go to any of those comparison videos the comments are overwhelming in favor of the Z In-house Funi dub with maybe Kai in second. Entirely because of nostalgia. I can't think of a single case where any future dub wasn't superior to the early dubs, but I still see so many comments saying t...
