Re: Anyone interested in discussing the social issues of DB?
This is an issue I feel somewhat strongly about, so I'd like to state my thoughts. I can see why people are offended by General Blue, and especially Otokosuki, but I usually just write this off because it's comedy. I'll admit, I never saw either of them as especially problematic, but the fact is, it...

Re: Is Dragon Ball the Star Wars of anime?
These being two of my favorite franchises, I've made this comparison more than once. Typically asking myself the question "How the hell does a franchise this big get such half-assed re-releases?" (in reference to Funi's season sets and the SW special editions) But I think a positive comparison can b...

Re: What terms are used in the Funimation subs
My mistake. I knew it was Suno in the subtitles so I assumed he just made a typo.Ajay wrote:Literally within the first few minutes of episode 35, she is called "Suno" pronounced like "Sue-No".Footlong Shoe wrote:I think you mixed something up there...
It was Suno in the subtitles, and Sno (Snow?) in the dub.

Re: Like That the Tournaments Finished?
That's a fair point. It just seemed like such a waste. At least the most anticipated fight still happened, just not as expected.ABED wrote:I don't think he could've handled the tournament better, by that time, our heroes had so outgrown the tournament that it had no real value for them anymore.

Re: Like That the Tournaments Finished?
I never got more pissed off watching this series than during the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai. I was so excited to finally see another tournament after all this time, but just like that everyone leaves? I'm not saying the characters made the wrong choice, but I think Toriyama could've handled that better.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Considering MSRP was $60, $75 isn't that bad. I can't see myself spending $300 on one box, though. At that point I'll probably end up buying a full set and then selling whichever ones I already have.

The only other Dragon Box that I regularly see at $60 is Box 5. The others seem to go for $100 at the lowest.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
I just got my first Dragon Box!

It's not a huge deal compared to the other types of things in this thread, but I thought it was worth sharing. Too bad the others usually go for at least twice the price of this one.

Re: DB and DBZ: Parts vs Whole
I've always enjoyed the Dragon Ball portion of the story more than the Z portion. Don't get me wrong, I still love Dragon Ball Z, but insane fights and planet-destroying attacks aren't the reason I got into the franchise. I was exposed to the DB manga first by one of my friends, and I loved it for a...

Re: Refering to the Japanese version as a "dub"
When they do that, it's less marketable for sub fans buying their DVDs. I wouldn't want to watch it in Japanese if I'm not even watching the same animation.Puto wrote:They could do what KaiserNeko does with DBZ Abridged and just have the dub studio edit the lipflaps.

Re: Refering to the Japanese version as a "dub"
(And if you want to get REALLY pedantic, a lot of anime gets recorded before the visuals are finished being animated... Dragon Ball included.) To be fair, most animation in general is done that way. It's probably a lot more common in other countries, when they animate the mouths to actually look li...

You've convinced me. I'll buy this set.
If I like it as much as I think I will, I'll read the manga, as well.

Re: Post your Resurrection F Theatre Experience
I went to the Paragon Theater in Newport News, VA. The movie was cropped to Cinemascope aspect ratio (what I like to call wider-screen), which got on my nerves even though it only hurt a few scenes. The crowd was great, too. I noticed some scenes got some "undeserved" reactions, though. For example,...
