Re: Should fans write for official products ?

The reactions were mixed to negative from what I saw on 4ch and some of the blogs I read. The hardcore fans' reactions were pretty similar to here in the English speaking fanbase. They had same issues with the story and characters and by the time ToP happened, interest had dwindled a lot although pa...

Re: “There is nothing to learn from Dragon Ball,” says Akira Toriyama’s editor, Kazuhiko Torishima

This just sounds like an artist trying to dodge responsibility for their work. Granted Torishima isn't the artist, but he played a pivotal part in the creation of DB and even Toriyama has said things like this in the past which kind of sucks. No wonder you see so many fans use this exact same excuse...

Re: What are your other favorite non-Dragon Ball movies/shows

TV is really hard cause every season I have a new favorite lol. But, there are some specific ones that are super memorable. All of Ikuhara Kunihiko's work(Sailor Moon, Utena, Penguindrum, Yurikuma Arashi and the recent Sarazanmai) K-On Noein Hyouka Mononoke Kaiba Ojamajo Doremi The Idolmaster Casshe...

Re: How would you compare Dragon Ball’s revival to something like Star Wars?

Disney media frustratingly dominates the cultural conversation like nothing else so its hard for DB to compare which is pretty big by all metrics, but can't compete on that level cause sadly 'Merica and its media is still the centre of the world. Both do exploit nostalgia in the shallowest ways poss...

Which are those in production?
One Piece, Precure, Doremi movie and the 2 new projects announced today World Trigger and Dragon Quest. Kitaro is also ongoing so that's 6 for now, but we know it will be over very soon.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Yeah there is literally no way a DB TV series is happening unless Toei is planning to collapse to the ground. There's 5 projects in production currently. It is kind of like 2014 all over again. Still, interested to know what will replace Kitaro though.

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Bane isn’t a revolutionary. He’s an extension of the bad guys from Batman Begins. TDKR was written before Occupy Wall Street even happened. It wasn’t meant to be some statement on how capitalism is awesome and revolutionaries are evil. The movie wasn’t suggesting that poor people suck. Again, one o...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Does it? I think so. Shapiro and his goons are certainly one of those that I had in mind, but I have also seen enough people on Twitter champion these films and one look at their bio tells me everything that I want to know about their ideology. Facebook is even worse. Christopher Nolan is not a rig...

The Dark Knight Trilogy has quite a strong following among right wing folks and white supremacist groups and it makes complete sense why they love Batman :P

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

@Robo4900 I didn't interpret Scorsese or any of the other directors being critical of these movies from an artistic point of view(I mean Scorsese even called them well made), but the larger cultural point these movies have managed to make in the last decade and most importantly Disney's attempts to ...

Re: Most well developed characters in the franchise?

Mr.Satan. It is one of the reasons why the Majin Boo arc is my favorite in the whole series. It is remarkable how well done it is and I don't find that much in Dragon Ball. Boo being humanized by a selfish coward, but an ultimately good person at heart is just amazing. I'm a sucker for that kind of ...

Re: Rumor: Disney Developing New Live-Action Dragon Ball Movie With Asian Cast

Honestly while I don't believe this article, if it were true Disney is the studio I would trust to make a live action Dragon Ball movie work. They have a fantastic track record with Star Wars and the MCU. As long as they have the right directors, writers, actors, composer, etc and a good budget for...

Re: DragonBall should do more with politics

I mean the world already gives you some ideas. It is vague and should be more fleshed out, but like the people on the countryside are living with dinosaurs and dragons in the past isolated from cities which have advanced technology and what not. Blooma and her family are capitalist pigs. It is kind ...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?

I haven't seen Broli. I have not even finished watching Super since I put it on hold during the ToP cause of how painfully boring it was. I am not following the currently ongoing manga and haven't done so in a long time or watched Heroes or played any of the new games that have come out and honestly...

One of the greatest directors to ever live directed 4 Hamtaro movies, all of which owned in different ways. They are classic in the same way most of his other works are. Hamtaro is good in general anyways.

Re: Did Dragon Ball Get Lucky?-The Good Faith Version.

Unfortunately Toei still band around the stupid kids excuse which leads to stupid things like censoring BDs and the fact that saying the series is aimed at kids they can get away with lazy writing. I think Toei does the usual company shtick, y'know the whole "we want all our works to be consumed by...

Re: Did Dragon Ball Get Lucky?-The Good Faith Version.

A number of JP fans have said this about the TV anime and I think agree with the point which is one of the primary reasons to DB and many other shows of that time's success. The novelty factor was the excitement of watching it in real time and it was also the time before streaming age and prevalence...
