Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

Given how strong many of the members of Team Universe 7 are becoming, I'm beginning to see something of a pattern. It looks as though we have upper-tier fighters in terms of strength, at least at a baseline. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Buu, Piccolo, and 17 are all looking to be around the same strength lev...

Re: How strong is Base Goku?

At this point I'd say Goku in his base form is on the very high end of SSJ3 tier. Specifically Gotenks SS3  But seriously, I think placing him at Ultimate Gohan -> Base Vegito levels is the most accurate. That way, the stronger cast members can give him a good relatively even spar in more stra...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

Maybe Krillin's just been training his body without using his Ki. Also, Earth has some crazy contraptions. Whose to say that equipment isn't designed for upper tier martial artists like OUR SAVIOUR SATAN?!

HAIL SATAN! HAIL SATAN!

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

OR........ We try to make sense of it because we enjoy the show and it's better to try and make gold out of coal then it is to just admit it's just coal. This is why I made an Inconsistency Rationalization Thread in the In-Universe forum board in the first place, because people don't even wanna make...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

If Goku's base is Buuhann level than why did he have trouble with Krillin? Pretty sure thats a feat for krillin, not the other way around. So how did he reach Buuhan level? He didn't. He made smart use of distraction and predicted specific actions from Goku to throw him off-guard and attempt a ring...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

If Goku's base is Buuhann level than why did he have trouble with Krillin? Because Toei and Toriyama are trying to beat us over the head with the idea that skill and strategy are what will be the most important in a battle royal of eighty fighters on a single fighting stage of various power levels ...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

Goku using SSJ blue and suppressing it down to Kuririn’s levels is equivalent of using a superluminal spaceship to cover a distance of a mere 100 metres while supressing its speed down to bicycle speed levels! And that while even using a jet plane (SSJ) would be a complete overkill for the purpose ...

Re: Can Saiyans survive in space?

Short answer: no, not really. === Long Answer: Vegeta died in RoF because he couldn't survive in space, not the planet's explosion itself, and all instances of Saiyans supposedly surviving in space were either filler or explained to be thin atmosphere. === Yes, I don't like it either. If they could ...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

Not to mention Blue put strain on your body, Goku was in very bad form after tournament, why would he put himself in danger like that? Goku was in bad form because he used the SSBKKx10 not because he used Blue. Blue putting strain on your body is a manga thing only. That's right. They specifically ...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

I'm liking the powerscaling. Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan are looking to be high Buu-Saga levels of power in base form. Honestly, I just like the idea of a strong base and by extension Super Saiyan forms, and then god level. Keeps things simple whilst allowing our heroes to make significant gains. Intere...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

I'd say that the biggest factor in increasing the value of skill is the fact that IT'S A BATTLE ROYAL OF THE AGES HOLY SH*T I'M STILL SO EXCITED! It's gonna be absolutely bonkers, with 80 fighters on a single ring, all with varying abilities, skills, and power levels. The chaos can be taken advantag...

Re: The Inconsistency Rationalization Thread

Nice one.

I've heard about the confusion about Gohan at that point in the series around here when I was lurking as a pre-member individual.

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

You know, everything about the setup for the Universal Survival Arc screams of Toriyama and Toei doing their damnedest to subvert all prior expectations about what the franchise means as a shonen fighting series, basically taking all of the "powerscaling" stereotypes that permeated the fandom and sp...

Re: Official Unofficial "Dragon Ball Super" Power Level Discussion Thread

I'm just wondering where Piccolo's at. He's been training with Gohan for a few years at this point, managing to get the boy up to actually giving his dad a good spar as a Super Saiyan. Would Piccolo be equal to base Gohan, or has he surpassed him in base again? I ask because we see that Piccolo got ...

The Inconsistency Rationalization Thread

After going through other threads regarding this touchy subject, I had an idea. My approach to Dragon Ball nowadays when I see a possible inconsistency is to first look for any and all established precedence, creative intent, in-universe statements, contextual cues, etc. If I've exhausted all of tha...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

I guess when it really comes down to it, I hate unfounded hatred. Even if it's not unfounded, I just find the constant bemoaning and grievances to be tiresome, ESPECIALLY when such people jump down the throats of those who earnestly don't understand what the fuss is about. I try to respect the serie...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

I apologize for coming off as a "Care Bear", as I've heard the term coined before. Don't get me wrong, I realize there are issues and inconsistencies. I just get confused when it seems like people conflate them with a lack of quality and/or care. I absolutely DESPISE anything that seems like unfound...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

I guess what I'm trying to say is......... Why do people take these inconsistencies so badly? I genuinely can't understand how a person could react so negatively, especially since we often get contextual cues and character motives to give context to the supposed inconsistencies I hear people talking...

Re: Ever since Super's release, people are very quick to dismiss all criticisms about power level inconsistencies. Why?

I'm telling you guys with the way Super is heading now, by the end of this series we have Yamcha fighting on par with the Grand Priest! Mark my words. I'd be fine with it, because it'd be rife with comedic material. Just because I enjoyed how episode 84 handled the martial arts aspects doesn't mean...
