Re: Rate the Tournament of Power Episodes, Part 2: Episodes 107-118

Always love reading everyone's thoughts on these things. Interesting to see that unlike part 1, opinions on the episodes this time around seem to be a lot closer-knit. This is likely due to the better quality overall from the string of episodes we got. I did notice a few things going through everyon...

Rate the Tournament of Power Episodes, Part 2: Episodes 107-118

With the latest episode marking the departure of two more universes, I feel this is a good point to introduce part 2 of my "rate the Tournament of Power" topics. This one will follow the same rules as before: talk about what you feel about the mentioned episodes, what you liked, what could be better...

Re: Is Ultra Instinct 50x Stronger Than SSJB?

Ultra Instinct is stronger than SSB. We don't know how much stronger and, quite frankly, I don't really want a concrete answer. Concrete numbers are one of the bigger sticking points with the show. While I like shows having a basic structure (such as transformation X makes character Y stronger), exa...

Re: If given the chance would Goku divorce Chi Chi?

That would require Goku actually knowing what "divorce" is.

Even then, no. Who else would be willing to put up with the monster that is Goku's stomach?

Re: Do anime-only adventures (scenes and arcs) help the show or hurt it?

I'd agree with others here in that it's sort of case-by-case. I rather enjoyed the Garlic Jr. arc, even if it was silly and rather nonsensical. On the other hand, I absolutely hated the fake Namek arc. Giving an overall answer is pretty difficult because different parts made the anime more enjoyable...

Re: Cell vs Buu: which arc was more seemless in shifting gears?

The answer, in my opinion, changes a bit depending on whether or not you're talking about the anime or the manga. In regards to the anime, I feel the Cell arc was a lot more natural in its progression. It felt like point A flowed into B, which went to C and so on. The change from 19 and 20, to 16, 1...

Re: Thoughts on Ribrianne?

Final thoughts on Ribrianne's character are that she's very polarizing. On the one hand, it's evident now that her sole role in the tournament was to be a recurring gag that brought a more comedic edge to the show. On the other hand, her pre-entrance foreshadowing made it seem as if she would play a...

Re: Goku's Stamina In Battle: A Deeper Look At Self Improvement

-snip- After reading your post, I sort of understand where you're coming from here, but I can't say I agree. Especially after this latest episode. What you described could theoretically rationalize why Goku was able to surpass his limits and tap into Ultra Instinct, but it doesn't really explain ho...

*DISCLAIMER: My speakers for my computer broke this weekend so I didn't have audio when watching this episode. As this is a subtitled show, I still got most of the necessary info, like animation and plot.* Things I Liked: -The character writing was fairly strong this episode. -Little throwbacks to K...

Hanging out with the in-laws this Thanksgiving weekend, so don't really have time for my usual in-depth post. Thought the episode was better than I expected it to be but nothing particularly amazing. Hope everyone else had a happy Thanksgiving!

Re: Super Episode 116 (19 November 2017)

Now that it's finally over, rate Goku vs Caulifla/Kale/Kefla Episodes 114 and 116 were good, but episodes 113 and 115 were very poor. Much of the reason just has to do with pacing/padding. There is WAY too much cutting to the sidelines for talking that is usually useless. There are certain comments...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread

Recent episode 117 spoilers pretty much tell me that 17 gonna's mop the floor with Rozie (or at least he should, given base Goku beat her and 17 casually knocked around SSJ Goku) and Ribrianne will likely (not guaranteed, though) knock out 18. Info on Vegeta feels too vague for me to form a proper o...

Re: People are always talking about the flaws of the ToP arc, so let's talk about its strengths

You're saying it like those are mutually exclusive concepts. Of course they don't have to be mutually exclusive. I was talking about this episode specifically. The whole Yurin scenario was nonsensical, but there was charm to it. Hence, bad writing but mindless fun. Tien still did nearly just as muc...

Re: People are always talking about the flaws of the ToP arc, so let's talk about its strengths

Yurin was a good blend of incompetence and threatening, kind of like Pilaf but more competent, making an entertaining mini-antagonist, and the reveal that her motivations were so childish was rather nice. Like I said, I can see it as mindless fun but not good writing. Zombie fighters was silly and ...

Re: People are always talking about the flaws of the ToP arc, so let's talk about its strengths

Yeah, except that episode. All the rest were ranged from decent to great. On a personal level, I also hate the space poacher episode, but otherwise agreed. Not really. I mean, I like Super a lot, but that's definitely one of its weaker episodes. It did a terrible job of building up Tien and Roshi w...

Re: Super Episode 115 (12 November 2017)

I dont understand why Yashima did the storyboard for episode 115, add also Kitano animation, did Toei forget how much of a failure episode 33 was when both men worked together that time? And yes Yashima should never storyboard ever again, its not his strength. The director was the same one from epi...
