Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

I would've preferred that FUNimation had completed all their previous releases like the UUEs and the Level Sets or had given the fans the opportunity to trade-in their incomplete releases for the complete releases at a set percent discount. It could've saved Fukunaga and his company a lot of PR poi...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

I sincerely doubt that Dragon Ball and all its various follow-ups will ever receive a proper release considering how polarized and subjective the fandom has become. I would even dare say they're as polarized as the Star Wars fandom meaning that nobody will ever come to a collective agreement regard...

Re: Funimation and swearing

Shit does mean excrement, so I don't know what the problem is there. the Japanese language really has no true curse words What exactly does that mean? It's certainly different, but the entire dub is practically night and day. It's not perfect and has weird holdovers, but it's definitely far better,...

Re: Funimation and swearing

The irony of how much FUNimation peppers their more modern dubs including DBZ Kai with butt loads of swearing during tense moments of action and such lies in that it's the complete opposite of the original version, mostly because of the simple fact that the Japanese language really has no true curse...

Re: Best VIZ release of the Manga?

That's easy, the Full Color mangas! But the problem is that Viz takes an eternity to release it so you might have to pick another edition. If you know Spanish, they've released all or almost all of the Full Color volumes. I do but I'd rather just have it in English for convenience. As it doesn't lo...

Re: Did FUNimation release digital booklets of the Dragon Box Z ones?

FUNi published digital versions of their season booklets from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT so I'm hoping they also did for Dragon Box Z. So, did they? I have them but haven't yet read any yet. I know for sure that they made the digital editions of the booklets for all of the season...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

I believe you can in fact change the settings on DVD compatible PC drives to where they are region free. Correct, although many operating systems, including MacOS, only let you change it a limited amount of time, like five. Yeah i knew of that, and if i were to eventually import those Australian DB...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

Uncut version of Saga of Goku was released, but only via Madman. And also re-released in UK by Manga UK. http://i.neoseeker.com/boxshots/TW92aWVzL0FuaW1l/dragon_ball_collection_01_the_saga_of_goku_frontcover_large_v1rUTVqoEvNrCJl.jpg It's easier to find this on Collection Part 1 (AU) or Season 1 (U...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

The Saga Sets are a bit of a drag but I got the Madman version which was the entire series in two boxes so couldn't complain about that, even moreso the price I bought it for. Manga UK's covers look way nicer than FUNimation or Madman's releases but not something I'd be willing to double dip 'cause...

Re: Best VIZ release of the Manga?

So, I've never actually collected the full manga series (mainly because I would just go to the library to get them temporarily whenever I felt like revisiting) I've kinda wanted to get a printed run for my own shelf, but I can't decide which. I tried looking at my options in the Kanzenshuu guides, ...

Re: DBZ is still DB

I'm still at a loss as to how you can earnestly believe Piccolo is wacky/campy/whatever term you used. I think it may be because he was originally sealed in a rice cooker and he had the Pilaf Gang with him at first. That's about it though Yes, while Piccolo Daimao may be a serious villain there are...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

I have pretty much most of those you named there, with the exception of the original DB as i have the Blue Bricks which aren't that bad. Mostly because they are the most convenient way to get the series as the Saga collections are harder to come by these days. So for me it's like this Dragon Ball= ...

Re: Is It Time For A Redub? Dragon Ball GT

It's not worth the investment. 1) They give all the opportunities in the world for fans to watch the Japanese, subtitled version (every release, Funimation Now, Hulu, etc.) In today's world, it's a lot more common to watch the subtitled version. 2) They wouldn't strike a TV deal, which would make t...

Re: Will DB/Z/GT Ever Get a Proper Release?

I'm assuming you mean like a perfect release with it being in HD, 4:3, Color corrected, grain intact, and "high quality" JP audio? If so, no. If it were by some prestigious company, it would possibly happen but TOEI? Pretty unlikely. I'd say we have it really good and the consumer just has to know ...

Re: What was point of getting rights for The Movies?

When I bought that, they both came bundles together in an outer cardboard box that held both cases. They were sold separately too? I believe when they first released the GT complete series set it had a book style setup on the inner case, only later on did they change it to a slipcase that holds bot...

Re: What was point of getting rights for The Movies?

Dragon Ball was never released in singles by Funimation. They are only sold in Volumes. Yes, the original two disc bilingual releases of DB were in "Saga" sets that are basically volumes, with the exception of the first arc due to FUNi not having the distribution rights back at the time. I personal...

I'm totally with you on this one. It's maddening how people feel and treat it like two different series when they really, really aren't. But I'm going to be lazy too and just copy and paste my thoughts from a Dragon Ball Dissection episode where I covered this topic: In my experience, I have heard ...

I've already got the English Daizenshuu 1, so I'm not sure if I'm also going to fork out for this for just a few more extra pictures, but it's nice to see more stuff like this being released in English. The rest of the Daizenshuu's, GT Perfect Files and the other data books (Forever, Landmark.etc) ...
