No problem...it looks like these shots are from the raw film source (I took them quite a while ago). You guys probably don't need much more convincing, but some people over on the Funi forums do. Here is a set of screen shots I worked up showing the cropping affect. Most people are making the argument that you won't miss most of the action, which is true, but there are moments when the entire pictu...

I don't get it. There's two versions of this exact image running around now, and they both say that it's a true 16:9 image. Unfortunately, the one showing more image loss is the correct one. The earlier one didn't properly resize his image from his DVD rip. Oh. So it has to do with how it was lifte...

Posting this so you guys can compare. The original comparison wasn't corrected for an actual 4:3 display (it was native DVD resolution), so someone else on AnimeonDVD and FUNi's forums posted this: Here . That looks correct, and that's exactly what I'm afraid of too. I think some people are just na...

Wow. See, this is why I gave up on making AMVs for now. I have absolutely no idea what any of this crap means. I think I learned most of it from ripping DBZ DVDs for my own personal use. FUNI's DVDs have the oddest DVD structure I've seen across ANY DVDs out there. So, to do it properly, from start...

"progressive" DVD's are encoded on DVD as interlaced field pairs that can be reinterleaved by a progressive player to recreate the original progressive video) I'm not sure I follow the point you're trying to make (whether for, or against)... Either way... MPEG-2 video streams fully support progress...

All DVDs are interlaced encodings. It's progressive-scan players that allow you to upconvert them from 480i to 480p. No... some videos are progressive scans at 23.976 frames per seconds. Those DVDs have "pulldown" flags to tell the player when to repeat the frames to achieve interlaced output to wo...

...not a DVD interlaced encoding We better not be getting an interlaced encoding. It had better be progressive with pulldown flags! DVDs can do 480p. That said, the overlaid screenshot above is exactly what I worry about. Granted, that 'trailer' may have been created from DVDs already out there for...

The only logic I can come up with is they would have to use the 720 X 480 resolution. Then you would have to have a DVD player that can upscale that image to 1080p. That is including that you have a HDTV that supports 1080p. So I am very stummped how they can put 1080p episodes on a regular DVD(tha...

I am sure new gen DVD players support it but not all. I have heard of them using the WMV HD compression to get this to work with DVD-ROM. Actually, the new DVD players (HD-DVD and BluRay) support both new Video Codecs, H.264 and VC-1 (VC-1 is lead by Microsoft, and is basically already incorporated...

Re: 1989 for me

It was in the summer of 1988 and I was living in Okinawa, Japan with my dad at the time. I was 6 at the time, so I might be the oldest (24) on here. You're not the oldest then  . I got hooked into it when a buddy of mine had a Japanese exchange student live with him from Japan. I didn't see t...

I really, really hope this widescreen thing is only an option and that they also offer the 4:3 footage on the discs as well. C'mon FUNi, don't mess this thing up... For them to do this, they'd have to include 2 video streams, so we'd basically double that number of 900 minutes to 1800 minutes. Acro...

Widescreen is an issue, I'll admit. We can and will be worried about it until we hear more details. But I'd give more consideration to the apparent 5 disc arrangement. 39 episodes? That comes out to 8-8-8-8-7 one way or another . . . so should there be any concern with the new remastered quality be...

Funimation said they bought some new restoration equipment. So I'm assuming Toei wouldnt sell(or was to expensive) for Funimation. My biggest worry is Funi getting correct colors... not taking out scratches or removing that glue junk on the some frames. The UUEs have a very different color as oppos...

Okay I have done some investigation into this topic. I have contacted my inside source at Funimation. She tells me that the Vegeta Season 1 box set will be released on Febuary 6th 2007. It will include episodes 1-39, containing 6 DVD's, and an average of 6 episodes per disk The Ultimate Uncut Speci...

Even if it is true why do you think that means no Dragonbox footage? Maybe the Dragonbox footage takes up to much room so they had to cut down the episode number. Just saying, nothings fact yet. :? Because, to me, it would seem Funi would just push the current UUE into box sets rather than get the ...

This collection presents the action-packed chronicle of sibling rivalry in its entirety with episodes 1-18. I thought it would have 1-39. :? GAH! I missed reading that! What's the point of calling it a box set then? That's not even the entire set of "Vegeta Saga 1" if you count the Ultimate Uncut E...

Well I'm not oppsed to constructive criticism but when it's just like "your art is frickin stupid," then the line has been crossed, by a lot. There's nothing wrong with pointing out what someone could do better though since, if they are a serious artist, they really will want to improve themselves....
