If you remember the Ani-Mayhem card game, I have a DBZ edition card with a picture of Roshi holding a glass of beer, with the glass crossed out. The card's entitled "Frothy Mugs of Water." When you think about it, it's true TVY7 shows that have action in them are always largely edited or obviously t...

The blind dude was actually in the manga. All the aliens Son Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma encountered on the way to Namek are filler. Garlic Jr. and his henchmen have been mentioned. Er...if you count the movies, the new characters from the movies are filler...in a sense. There's also the cricket dude ...

Actually, there's three editions already out in English by Viz. First, there's the white covered one that costs $15, has the "The hit story behind Dragon Ball Z" thing, and is pretty much censored. Then there's the other white one, that says "13 and up," and is uncensored. And then finally there is ...

The Genki Dama is a huge ball made of ki gathered from a bunch of people, so Son Goku always asks for energy because Ki means life force, which is your bodies source of power. And energy means source of power, making Ki energy. Also, Genki could be translated as health (or something) and is used a l...

Except of course that he's not actually 14, he's 12, remember? he just can't count properly. Furthermore, while there may be a double standard in the animation, the manga clearly has no such problems. Check Dragonball, volume 9, page 60 (in the SJ version, can't say for others). Yeah. The apparent ...

I don't think he planned on ending the series with Son Goku dying fighting Freeza. I mean, he just died a year earlier, and it would be kinda strange if the main character of a series died in both major story arcs. Leaving it at "He refuses [or something like that]" would be more mysterious and cool...

(Heh, and nice avatar to go with your post) Yes, you're illustrating your point right now! I wouldn't use that image in a "Why I like Dragonball" presentation, you know? Can you imagine? I would. To Deus Ex Machina:  ...Yep. Seeing a chick strip is different than seeing a butt intende...

I always thought the dragons transcend into some pure form of power and get scattered along with the balls, or just go and chill in the ocean somewhere. Remember, Dragon Ball was supposed to end at the Freeza story arc, so Son Goku surviving the explosion of Namek but not wanting to return just give...

Well....eh... Power levels are wierd things. As you said, they were only a few from early Dragon Ball, a lot from the Saiyan story arc, and some in the Freeza story arc. When Trunks arrived supressing his ki, that was the last time anyone used the power level system thing. The best source would be t...

Whoah, this was the first topic I started. It's like this. People have something in them called energy (or ki). The more energy you have, the more you can do. Then people have something called power. Energy means "source of power," so basically the body uses up energy to build power (or chikara, if ...

Well, Trunks knew when Cell was gonna awaken, and knew he would go after the Time Machine. In the original timeline, Trunks had probably just finished the androids, and was gonna go back to tell everybody. But since Cell had interfered with the whole timeline mess, Trunks knew about Cell. So he was ...

Mmmm....well, when I read that, I too thought Viz screwed up. Then I checked my tankoubon and boom...I saw Vegeta refer to him as Goku there too. So its not really Viz's fault, they're just translating what Toriyama originally put there. It's probably because the people around him were saying stuff ...

Some questions
I don't know if these have been asked before, but I haven't seen any topics lately about these... 1. How come Son Goku's body was reunited with him in the afterlife after he died the first time. Isn't death when your soul leaves your body? Isn't reuniting your body with your soul being brought back ...

I would like it to end with the Freeza story arc. This would be nice because it's kinda like the son of a Saiyan killed by Freeza, going up against Freeza, then achieving the legendary Super Saiyan state and defeating Freeza. If it ended there, Son Goku would be the only one to achieve Super Saiyan ...

On the "Mystic Gohan" thing... I'm not really a great translator, but when I read tankoubon Vol. 41, during the part after Son Gohan's power up, I read something along the lines of the old Kaioushin saying Gohan just had to power up, like going Super Saiyan. Remember, after the power up, Gohan had t...
