Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I wonder if Peras was auditioned for Bulma. I don't remember those really late episodes being on TV much when I was watching(From what I understand, France Peras took over from episode 246/261), so I don't really remember how she sounded as Bulma. Coincidentally I uploaded a clip featuring her a wh...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

Chris Hackney won me over in episodes 22 & 23. Wow, that guy can scream. It's a fitting voice too, not as deep as Hebert's Gohan which in my opinion is a good thing. I was never really a fan of Kyle Hebert's version so I have no problem saying that I think this is an all-around better casting choice...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

While the Blue Water dub uses Bulla too (presumably to avoid using the name "Bra" as well), it handles it in a much better way. Instead of pronouncing it like Bull-ah, as in the Funi dub, they pronounce it as Beulah instead which is an actual feminine name. It doesn't come across nearly as awkward a...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Blue Water GT in particular had some bizarre lines like; -Goku saying "The earth... the place where I was born", during the battle with Baby before he goes Oozaru. After checking with the Japanese subtitles this appears to be the case in the original too. So if anything you should be blaming Toei f...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

Jaco's voice is serviceable but not quite as fitting as the Funimation one, in my opinion. Both are in line with the Japanese though. Piccolo called it the "Special Beam Cannon", even in this dub. I suppose it's to keep in line with the Funi dub airings in South East Asia. Gohan and Krillin sounded ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

For DB, I believe AB Groupe had Blue Water use translated French scripts to save money. The UK/Canadian dub of DB is a strange case indeed. For the later half of the series they do seem to be using a completely different script to Funi (probably the French version, which was far more accurate. Exam...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread

I've probably said this before, but: I'm gonna be that guy and say I like Lex Lang's Goku a heck of a lot better than Schemmel's. : x While I do think Lang could do a bit better with some of the yells, he seems to at least understand Goku's personality. I feel like Schemmel only just barely started...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Me neither. I don't see the Ocean dub actors as that much more cartoony than Funimation. Both have their fair share and cartoony is fine if its well executed and doesn't feel forced. Sometimes I wonder if the Funimation dub fans just have a problem with Canadian voice actors, with the exception of ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Maggie Blue O'Hara is a good Bulma, despite that valley girl tone that she had. I could understand that criticism for Tiffany Vollmer's Bulma, she put on a more exaggerated valley girl accent which occasionally made her sound like a bit of an airhead but as for Maggie Blue, that's just her natural ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

As a side-note, here's an observation I've recently made about what I've gathered about the online speculation about Ocean Kai -- most people seem to assume it was simply the last actor to play each role who was re-auditioned for Ocean Kai, but since they apparently got Saffron Henderson back as Go...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Has there been any new developments on the Ocean Kai front? Any responses from Lee Tockar or Brian Drummond? Any new tweets I've missed from people involved? I'm actually starting to wonder whether it's worth Tweeting Shulman to ask if all is going well in terms of Ocean Kai. Drummond and Tockar se...

What year(s) did Bridge Entertainment release the movie VHS/DVDs?

To my knowledge, the AB Groupe (Big Green) English dubs of the movies and specials received quite a few releases in the Netherlands but it seems that no one knows the exact year these were released onto the market. Even their IMDB page doesn't have the dates for these (Scroll down to 420, 433, 434, ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I get the feeling Dale's probably talking about the Westwood Z dub, not the Kai dub, given that Kirbopher did state that he had got information from Dale that he had heard rumors of Kai, but never recorded. It's possible, although the way Kirbopher worded it seemed a little vague as to whether he w...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

We've kind of speculated on the last page that IPP and Ocean are the same company. The phone numbers and addresses are almost identical. You're right that IPP seems to be their casting agency. I only mentioned them because they're the only Ocean affiliated company that has any sort of social media ...

Re: Sony To Acquire Majority Stake in Funimation

Looks like the dub of Dragonball may have some major changes. I wouldn't be surprised if they do a clean slate and fire all the dub voices again and bring in new in-house voices to replace them with. It'll be the same thing as when Saban/ocean lost the rights of the dub to Funimation back in 1999. ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

At this stage I feel even those with power over the actors have done what they could to punish them for their actions. We know from Geekdom101's interview that when Drummond spoke to the production coordinator recently her response was "I still can't say where that is going, I will let you know as ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

Would they though? I don't know why Ocean would feel the need to be silent about this. They'd be crazy to not want this dub to be released, they may not be the licence holder but for their name the more anime recorded in their studio the better. Since Kai is part of the Dragon Ball franchise it sho...

Re: Factors that make UK Broadcasters pass on Dragon Ball Super.

I wonder what the chances are that the Manga UK Double Features will have Big Green as an audio track...probably pretty low, but it would be awesome of that was possible... MangaUK are too lazy to acquire it. If they could get those they could have also gotten the Westwood TV dub, same company (AB ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

The fact that they haven't already reached out to Wow Unlimited Media as soon as news of the channel broke is kind of a worrying thing in itself. Surely people in the TV industry would be well aware of a new channel, seems like an obvious opportunity to try and sell programming. Hopefully they haven...
