Re: Was Nicktoons the best fit for Kai to air in hindsight?

Yeah, but even with a so-called "uncut" DVD release, the companies will cut corners and redub as few lines as possible for the uncut release. Ultimately, a better dub is received if the anime stays off TV. Though, of course popularity is important too. I just wish it didn't hurt the overall product....

Re: Was Nicktoons the best fit for Kai to air in hindsight?

The dub would have probably been better if it stayed off TV, or was finished before being put on TV. In general, I prefer anime being straight to DVD, as even Adult Swim doesn't air it in a 100% uncut fashion. Could have been worse, I guess.

Re: Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu

I'm assuming Kai sales have went down after fans realized it wouldn't cover the entire DBZ story. But who knows.

Which is now going out of print. I'd hardly call that a proper release. Maybe proper quality, yes.

Re: Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu

They can't even give DBZ a proper release, so I'd be pretty nervous about them handling the editing too.

Re: Kai VS Manga

Kai could never replace the manga. If anything it simply replaced the original anime for fans who hate the filler and pacing, and it definitely replaced the original FUNi dub for fans of the english adaptation. This is exactly how I feel about it. That being said, I'm not much of a manga person. So...

Sabat & Cook answering to idea of USA exclusive Kai Buu saga

"I asked Sabat if they ever thought about finishing DBZ Kai on their own, without Japan's help. He & Justin Cook have talked about it! But unfortunately sales for Kai haven't been great. If anything, it's boosted sales of the orange brick box sets instead." (quote from Twitter) Wish Sabat's and Cook...

Ah, TV-only line, that explains it.

Re: "You are the man, Son!"

Believe it's episode 14. Right after Yajirobe jumps out, thinking Vegeta has been beaten by Goku's Kamehame-Ha. I haven't checked my Blu-rays since before the Nicktoons viewing, so I'm not sure if it's TV-exclusive line (no idea why it would be, though).

"You are the man, Son!"

I was watching Kai on Nicktoons the other day, and I never realized that Yajirobe uttered this line to Goku. Can't believe I didn't catch that before. I'm sure it was used as a sort of double entendre, being that "Son" can also be slang. But it still seems like a nod to Goku's family name, which is ...

I probably like the Buu arc more than the Artificial Human arc. It's consistent and doesn't have any ass-pulls as big as Dr. Gero.

Re: Do you really want a Buu Saga in Kai?

I wanted it for the chance of Fat Buu being recast, like Freeza was. But even if that didn't happen, rewatching it with a script closer to the original and better acting would make it worth it for me. SRB2Unleashed is making a custom Boo Kai arc, I'll check it out once Episode 99 is available but if...

Re: "Son Gokuu" in DBZ Kai

I do like the "I am the Super Saiyan! Son Goku!" line now since I know Schemmel is the reason it exists. When you realize he was able to get something like that into the dub, it's a fairly decent sign that they don't want to completely rape DBZ anymore. But, if you didn't know that, you'd just think...

Re: Dragon Ball Kai: The Unofficial Buu Saga (Ep 99 NEP Post

Well you know how the uncut version of the dub used both (the H-word) AND Satan (and Hercule-Satan at times) but at the time of editing the NEP I wasn't even considering the fact. Since this is a fan-arc, you could edit and make the characters only use Mr. Satan than the h-word name. It's not fully...

The Philippine version is really good. I'm surprised they never had Vic Mignogna or some other various singer from FUNi fandub the openings and endings for one of the various DVD re-releases.

If limited to FUNi actors: Goku: Todd Haberkorn Vegeta: Travis Willingham Gohan: Colleen Clinkenbeard Piccolo: Troy Baker Kuririn: Sonny Strait Freeza: Chris Ayres (Chris Sabat would probably do a good job here too, but why fix what ain't broke?) Cell: Dameon Clark Kaio-sama: Maybe Chris Sabat (sinc...
