People seem to forget that Future Trunks sword was a reference to his old master Gohan.
Kid Gohan was given a sword by Piccolo to defend himself.

Honestly if Toriyama made his own rendition of SSJ4, maybe by mixing it with SSJG (so the red fur would finally make fucking sense) i would squeal like a fucking girl.
